The Special Court of Assizes in Brussels has sentenced eight suspects in the 2016 terror attacks on the Belgian capital that left 32 people dead.

00:10 Belgian capital eight years ago, in what was the country's biggest ever trial.
00:14 They were convicted in July on a range of charges including murder, attempted murder
00:18 and terrorism.
00:19 On Friday, six defendants received terms of 20 years to life, including Salah Abdeslam,
00:25 who is serving a life sentence in France for his role in the 2015 Paris attacks that killed
00:30 130 people.
00:32 Abdeslam had fled the French capital and was captured in Belgium four days after the Brussels
00:37 bombings.
00:38 He was returned to Belgium from France last summer to be tried.
00:42 Another defendant, Mohamed Abrini, had admitted his role in the attacks, confessing to preparing
00:47 the explosives for the bombings.
00:48 The court in July also ruled that another three people who died in the years following
00:52 the bombings should also have been considered victims of the attacks, bringing the death
00:56 toll to 35.
