00:00 Hugh Jackman and his wife, Deborah Lee Furness, are amicably ending their marriage after 27
00:05 years together.
00:07 The pair shared the shocking news with People magazine on Friday, saying in a statement,
00:11 "We have been blessed to share almost three decades together as husband and wife in a
00:14 wonderful loving marriage.
00:16 Our journey now is shifting and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth."
00:22 The pair got married in 1996 and share two kids together, 23-year-old Oscar and 18-year-old
00:27 Ava.
00:29 The duo did not tell the publication if they have plans to officially file for a divorce.
00:33 Access Hollywood has reached out for comment.
00:37 Following news of their split, Access is taking a look back at their decades-long relationship,
00:41 from Hugh's sweet tributes to Deborah, to some iconic interviews we have of the pair.
00:47 27 years strong, Hugh Jackman and wife Deborah Lee Furness are marking a special milestone.
00:54 The Oscar nominee honored his longtime love for their wedding anniversary on April 11
00:59 with a romantic Instagram tribute.
01:01 Hugh posted a loved-up photo of the pair posing against the New York City skyline and devoted
01:06 his caption to listing what he cherishes most about Deb, writing, "I love you, Deb.
01:12 Today is our 27th wedding anniversary.
01:14 27 years.
01:15 I love you so much.
01:17 Together we have created a beautiful family and life.
01:20 Your laughter, your spirit, generosity, humor, cheekiness, courage and loyalty is an incredible
01:26 gift to me.
01:27 I love you with all my heart."
01:34 Hugh Jackman and Deborah Lee Furness are quote "dancing into the holidays."
01:38 The 54-year-old X-Men star and his wife shared a fun and festive video on his Instagram on
01:43 Thursday, dancing to Bruno Mars' "Finesse."
01:46 And the couple definitely have the moves.
01:49 Posting the post, writing in part, "Deb and I are dancing into the holidays.
01:53 Thank you to Michelle and Pedro for the steps and patience."
01:56 The pair busted a move in front of their beautifully decorated Christmas tree, and it was almost
02:01 a scene set for a movie.
02:02 But hidden in the corner of the video was also a cardboard cutout of Hugh's BFF and
02:07 Deadpool 3 co-star Ryan Reynolds in his anti-hero costume.
02:12 The Free Guy actor recently spoke highly about his talented friend in an interview on Sirius
02:16 XM's "The Jess Cagle Show" and shared how much Hugh just helped him with his holiday
02:21 film "Spirited."
02:22 "Did even just doing the movie 'Spirited' with the singing, the dancing, these new aspects
02:27 that we've seen now in your career, like did it blossom a new chapter in your friendship
02:31 with Hugh?
02:32 Just being like, 'Look, I've also done that now.
02:34 We're on the same page now, Hugh.'
02:37 Take that.
02:38 Yeah.
02:39 No.
02:40 No.
02:41 Find a tap dancing.
02:42 How about you?"
02:43 "I think Hugh is incredibly gifted at more things than I would ever hope to be, as it
02:50 relates to the entertainment industry.
02:52 He can sing and dance as well as he can slice up a room with fictional claws.
02:59 So he's really, it's in Hugh's bones.
03:03 And he helped me a lot.
03:04 I asked him a lot of questions for him, and one of the things that really helped me the
03:08 most was the simplest piece of advice, which was just like, 'If you enjoy it, they'll enjoy
03:11 it.
03:12 Just let yourself have fun.
03:14 And don't worry so much about being perfect every step of the way.'
03:17 And I was like, 'No problem, because there's not going to be a step where I'm perfect.'
03:21 And that made it all so much better.
03:23 And then I also had Will and Octavia, all three of us together.
03:26 We were sort of in this boat where we just, none of us were professed to even be competent
03:32 at this job.
03:33 So we kind of had this camaraderie together where we got to kind of go into the depths
03:38 of hell and the Empyrean heights of each moment together.
03:42 Hugh and Debra Lee's dancing might be impressive, but the couple are even more impressed by
03:47 tennis star Serena Williams.
03:49 Access Hollywood spoke with the pair at the USTA Foundation Opening Night Gala back in
03:53 August and spoke highly about the athlete and why they think she's such an inspiration.
03:59 How excited are you?
04:00 Hello, you both look beautiful tonight.
04:02 How excited are you both to see Serena play?
04:04 Incredible.
04:05 This is a historic moment.
04:06 Yeah, we're super, super excited.
04:07 And then to see Nick after, they're curious, and Coco Mongeau.
04:11 You Aussies.
04:12 It's a good Aussie night as well.
04:13 So it's a really great night for us.
04:15 And big tennis fans, Serena, obviously woman of the night.
04:19 Why is she such an inspiration to people everywhere?
04:21 Her courage, her talent, her ability and her determination, to name a few adjectives.
04:29 She's a trailblazer.
04:30 You know, she's changed the game forever.
04:33 And I think she's an extraordinary talent and so inspirational.
04:38 And we're so happy to celebrate her here tonight.
04:41 Thank you so much.
04:42 And Hugh, are we going to be seeing you on screen again?
04:43 We love seeing you in the music, man.
04:46 Thank you.
04:47 I hope you'll see me on screen again.
04:48 I will.
04:49 Actually, I've got a film coming out called The Sun.
04:50 Oh, very good.
04:51 So, but hopefully, yes, there'll be more movies.
04:53 Access also caught up with Hugh and Debra at the 2018 Golden Globes, where they talked
04:58 about their long-lasting marriage.
05:00 Is there anything you can't do?
05:01 I'm doing my own therapy.
05:02 I go deep, I go dark, and I finish with a smile.
05:05 I joke that maybe Mandela could be next, right?
05:07 I mean, this is where you can really play a little bit of everything.
05:10 You do a little bit of everything.
05:12 I do love to do a little bit of everything.
05:13 So this has been, for me, the perfect year.
05:16 Logan is obviously close to my heart, and we spent seven years trying to get Showman
05:19 made.
05:20 So it's been, it's actually been, I should retire.
05:22 This is it.
05:23 No way.
05:24 No way.
05:25 No.
05:26 Like Jordan, yeah, yeah, I'm out.
05:27 I'm done.
05:28 I'm done.
05:29 Let me play baseball.
05:30 Zach Efron, had you worked with him before?
05:31 I've worked with him because you two were magical.
05:32 It's been seven years getting this going, and four years doing workshops, and he was
05:37 there from the beginning.
05:38 So he was the first person after me to say, "Yes, I love this, and I love this music."
05:42 So we kind of got to know each other through workshops.
05:44 You know, rehearsals.
05:45 Who has the better lines, though?
05:48 Zach would give me actual advice.
05:49 He goes, "Why don't you do that with your hands on my thanks button?"
05:52 What do you mean?
05:54 He's the real deal dancer.
05:57 You know our number where we're sliding shot glasses?
06:00 He's like Olympic level.
06:01 I don't know.
06:02 Maybe it's a mis-spent youth, but that guy can slide a shot glass and put it on a five-cent
06:06 piece.
06:07 It's incredible.
06:08 Now I have a question.
06:09 When he came up, when this idea was first getting floated around, and he shared with
06:12 you The Greatest Showman, were you like, "Okay, babe, babe, but uh..."
06:15 Or were you automatically in?
06:17 It's fun.
06:18 I love it when he gets excited about something.
06:21 He loves to sing and dance, and there's not many movies out there you can do that in.
06:25 And they worked on it.
06:26 They developed it.
06:27 I mean, this film, no one knows this.
06:28 Usually you get a two-week rehearsal period.
06:30 They had three months to work on those dance numbers, which is why they look so amazing.
06:34 And then you do the live commercial.
06:36 Oh, that killed it!
06:37 Come on!
06:38 I was freaking out.
06:39 I tell you, my heart was beating fast on that one.
06:42 Yeah.
06:43 That was exciting.
06:44 Someone told me how much was spent on the live commercial, about 20 seconds before we
06:48 went on air.
06:49 I was like, "I wish I hadn't have told her that."
06:50 I wish I had.
06:51 Maybe after.
06:52 I didn't need to know that.
06:53 Maybe after.
06:54 I've always loved you, but the article I read when you were gushing about your wife, how
06:56 many years have y'all been married?
06:57 Twenty-one.
06:58 Twenty-two.
06:59 Twenty-two.
07:00 Twenty-two.
07:01 I'm not good with numbers.
07:02 It's been a while.
07:03 She's the wild one.
07:04 Twenty-two in April.
07:05 She's the wild one.
07:06 She's the wild one.
07:07 Oh, yeah.
07:08 I'll be the one tonight on the fourth party.
07:09 I'll be like, "Babe, I think we should go."
07:10 She'll be like, "Oh, you, Mr. Goody-goody."
07:11 You watch.
07:12 She is the wild one.
07:13 She's like, "I'm not denying it.
07:14 I'm not denying it."
07:15 What's the key for you?
07:16 Key for what?
07:17 Marriage.
07:18 Staying married and happy.
07:19 Just keep talking.
07:20 It's literally authenticity and openness, transparency.
07:21 And marriage really is standing buck naked in front of you.
07:22 Warts and all and going, "This is it.
07:23 This is me."
07:24 Which is the song in the film, "This is Me."
07:25 This is me.
07:26 Oh, I love that one.
07:27 Now, what's the key to lasting through tonight?
07:28 Because the parties are crazy.
07:29 I know you're going to get down.
07:30 Water.
07:31 Water early.
07:32 See, this is my first Globes.
07:33 I didn't know.
07:34 It's all about timing.
07:35 When to start the champagne.
07:36 One drink, one water.
07:37 Everyone makes the mistake of having it in the hotel room before they go in.
07:38 They're all excited about it.
07:39 They're like, "Oh, I'm going to get down."
07:40 I'm like, "Oh, I'm going to get down."
07:41 I'm like, "Oh, I'm going to get down."
07:42 I'm like, "Oh, I'm going to get down."
08:03 I'm like, "Oh, I'm going to get down."
08:30 I'm like, "Oh, I'm going to get down."
08:42 (upbeat music)
