00:00 Russell Brand is denying sexual assault allegations made against him.
00:04 In a video posted to his social media accounts, the Forgetting Sarah Marshall star said he
00:08 quote "absolutely refutes" the sexual assault claims and said his relationships have all
00:14 been consensual.
00:15 The video comes as a result of a joint investigation published by the Times of London, the Sunday
00:20 Times and Channel 4 Dispatches that reports multiple women have accused Brand of sexual
00:25 assaults including rape.
00:32 Brand went on to address the time frame of the allegations.
01:02 "These allegations pertain to the time when I was working in the mainstream, when I was
01:07 in the newspapers all the time, when I was in the movies, and as I've written about extensively
01:11 in my books, I was very, very promiscuous.
01:14 Now during that time of promiscuity, the relationships I had were absolutely always consensual.
01:19 I was always transparent about that then, almost too transparent, and I'm being transparent
01:24 about it now as well.
01:26 And to see that transparency metastasized into something criminal that I absolutely
01:31 deny makes me question, is there another agenda at play?"
01:36 The actor continued by speculating that the allegations are a quote "agenda to control
01:40 his voice".
01:41 "I don't mind them using my books and my stand up to talk about my promiscuous, consensual
01:45 conduct in the past.
01:47 What I seriously refute are these very, very serious criminal allegations.
01:53 Also it's worth mentioning that there are witnesses whose evidence directly contradicts
01:57 the narratives that these two mainstream media outlets are trying to construct, apparently
02:02 in what seems to me to be a coordinated attack.
02:06 Now I don't want to get into this any further because of the serious nature of the allegations,
02:11 but I feel like I'm being attacked and plainly they are working very closely together."
02:17 Channel 4, The Times and The Sunday Times aired a special on Saturday night titled "Russell
02:22 Brand in Plain Sight", which features women who allege that Brand has raped, sexually
02:26 assaulted or abused them, allegations he denies.
02:31 NBC News has not independently confirmed any of the allegations against Brand and an attorney
02:36 for the star declined to comment on the allegations when reached out by NBC News.
02:41 Thanks for watching!
