00:00 It's over two meters tall, five meters long and still has some of its teeth.
00:06 The near intact skeleton of this Camptosaurus, known as Barry, is set to go under the hammer
00:10 in Paris.
00:11 It's enthralled potential buyers and scientists, who have been particularly impressed by its
00:16 skull which is one of the most complete ever found.
00:19 "It's an extremely well-preserved specimen, which is quite rare.
00:25 Look at the skull for example, it's 90% complete and the rest of the dinosaur, it's 80% complete."
00:33 Barry's believed to have walked the earth at the end of the Jurassic period, roughly
00:37 150 million years ago.
00:40 It was discovered in the 1990s and restored by paleontologist Barry James, who the skeleton
00:45 was then named after.
00:47 It's rare that paleontologists find fossils as complete as Barry and even rarer that such
00:52 skeletons appear on the market.
00:55 Auctioneers say getting Barry ready for sale was a mammoth task.
00:59 "Fossils are found scattered about and you have to painstakingly restore them, scrupulously
01:05 restore the elements, mount them, give them shape and that's a long, tedious job that
01:10 requires a lot of energy and time."
01:14 The auction, which is expected to fetch up to 1.2 million euros, will take place in the
01:19 French capital in October.
