00:00 John, the Lions are not getting to the opposing quarterback often enough and
00:03 and reared his ugly head, especially in week two against Gino Smith and
00:06 the Seahawks. What do you make of that being a woe for the Lions thus far this
00:10 season? Yeah, Vito, real interesting, real unfortunate for the Detroit Lions
00:16 when you look at the fact that now they're dealing with an injury to James
00:19 Houston, who, you know, suffered a fractured ankle. Now it's gonna miss
00:23 potentially 6 to 8 weeks. Now you've taken away a surefire pass rusher and
00:29 you look at the Detroit Lions through a couple games. They don't have nearly
00:34 enough sacks in regards to getting home on Patrick Mahomes and Gino Smith. Now
00:39 it is much more difficult with these mobile elusive quarterbacks. But you
00:43 realize that this defensive line is full of talent, young talent and
00:48 players that are expected to perform at a high level, like an Ali McNeil, like
00:52 a John Kaminsky, Aiden Hutchinson and Charles Harris. So you look at it,
00:56 Vito, if the pressure is not going to consistently be there, then these
01:00 quarterbacks are going to pick you apart, which was able to take place with
01:04 Gino Smith, who really had a solid game and was a contributing factor in the
01:08 Seahawks offense, scoring a plethora of points and, you know, having the
01:12 opportunity in overtime to march down the field. If the Detroit Lions defense
01:17 led by Aaron Glenn is going to have a pass rush scheme that is not effective,
01:23 then it's going to be a very uphill climb in this early part of the season.
01:26 When you got some decent opponents the next two weeks, Vito, you're facing the
01:30 Atlanta Falcons and then a short turnaround. You're facing the Green Bay
01:34 Packers. So the schedule, you know, however you want to look at it doesn't
01:38 ease up. And on defense, the marriage between the pass rush and coverage has
01:44 to be in sync. And so far, the defensive line hasn't lived up at all to their
01:48 end of the bargain. You need a lot more from your playmakers and now having a
01:52 key injury to James Houston is going to be a significant problem. Yeah, the
01:56 pass rush no doubt needs to be picked up. John, thanks for all the time.
