Shadow Paymaster General, Jonathan Ashworth has called the government’s plans on HS2 a “complete shambles” as criticism grows over the possible scrapping of the high-speed rail link between Birmingham and Manchester.

00:17 That's good for passengers.

00:19 And that's important for connectivity across the north.
00:23 But with all these questions now about the financing
00:25 of the project, I think we really need the government
00:28 to clarify what is happening.
00:30 It's not good enough to have all these briefings
00:32 and counter briefings in the newspapers.
00:34 It's undermining business confidence,
00:36 and it's undermining communities across the Midlands
