00:00 Hi, my name's Ben Rose. Welcome to Llangrannog.
00:02 We're here delivering the Hub Officer training and education days
00:06 as part of our strategy to engage as many young children
00:11 into rugby through the WIU Hub programme.
00:14 We've had some fantastic conversations.
00:21 We've talked about how we can keep our game safer,
00:24 how we can work with the schools, particularly
00:28 because I think the Hub Officers are in an incredibly unique position
00:33 that they are in schools, but they're also in the clubs
00:35 and they're also part of our main WIU programme as well.
00:38 So they can share really vital information
00:41 like concussion injuries, head injuries,
00:44 but also, you know, the wider safeguarding message as well.
00:47 So they're a real valuable tool for us
00:50 and obviously we want to support them with as much CPD as we possibly can.
00:55 So I've had a great couple of days chatting to them, skilling them
00:59 and we'll be visiting them throughout the year as well.
01:02 We're very fortunate in the Welsh Rugby Union to have, you know,
01:04 100 Hub Officers who've been here in Llangrannog over the last two days.
01:09 I think from our perspective, you know, the Hub Officers are key
01:12 in terms of the future of the Welsh game,
01:15 in terms of their delivery, their offerings that they provide
01:18 to our young people out there,
01:21 whether that's in an educational establishment at a high school,
01:24 a comprehensive school or a primary school as well
01:27 and also into the community as well.
01:29 They provide offerings in terms of playing, playing the game itself,
01:33 also supporting coaches, referees out there,
01:37 making sure that we grow the game from a women's and girls' and a boys' perspective,
01:41 but also making sure that there's opportunities for youngsters to play the game,
01:45 but not just about on the field,
01:47 but I think also off the field as well in terms of, you know,
01:50 we provide offerings now for eSports, Club of the Future,
01:53 Minecraft, Microsoft activities as well,
01:56 and also making sure that we're fully inclusive and diverse as well
01:59 to make sure that anybody or any child out there
02:02 who wants to participate in the game
02:04 or have an involvement within the game of rugby
02:07 or just have an input into the game of rugby
02:10 has that through our Hub Officers.
02:12 And that is important and I think that hopefully safeguards
02:15 our game for the future and makes everybody sustainable
02:18 and grows the game in what has been a fantastic opportunity for all of us.
