00:00 Well, I can talk not just for myself, for everybody in this last week. I live just a
00:12 few yards away. We are totally, totally shocked. The one shop you think is going to be there
00:21 since 1870, overnight it closed. People were looking out the windows in shock. We didn't
00:30 know. What's happening to town centres, it's not just Newark, it's everywhere. What's happening
00:38 to town centres these days? It's very, very sad. I just think it's very sad really because
00:43 it's been there such a long time and people did use it and to think Newark's just going
00:48 like that is very sad. A lot of people miss it because a lot of people used to use it.
00:54 That was the first butcher's in this town. So a lot of people are going to miss it and
00:59 things like that and find it very strange. I know it's terrible. I think we've only got
01:06 about two now, isn't it? We used to have about five or six I reckon. But everything's going
01:11 down, isn't it? Everything. The market's going slowly. Everything. We want something going
01:19 on, don't we? Something good. Well everything in the town is closing down, isn't it? It's
01:24 sad. It really is sad. The market's sad. Look at it on a Friday and a Saturday and Wednesday.
01:33 There's people that are just not coming into town, are they? They're not coming into town
01:37 for the butchers. And it's such a lovely, it's like being on holiday when you come into
01:41 the town and you see people all sat outside and it's so nice. And it's so sad that port
01:46 is closed down for all these years. Yes it is. Nobody knew, no warning, nothing. And
01:52 marks and spences. That was a big loss when it closed down. Yeah. It really was. Don't
01:58 they? Birkin's a lot gone. But you know for Newark because it is a gorgeous town and I
02:03 love being here. You know it's the way it is I'm afraid. Yeah. We come here a few times
02:11 every few weeks or so. We come to do a bit of shopping. Any business that's been here
02:15 for such a long time is part of the furniture and it's so sad because it's closing down.
02:21 You know. The butchers, things like butchers and bakers and things, they're very few and
02:25 far between. So it's really sad that it's going. Well Porters has been in Newark for
02:31 quite a number of years and it's a very shame that they can't keep it open again. Let's
02:37 hope somebody will keep it successful in the next generation of people that run Porters.
02:42 So they are looking for a buyer. So do come forward and keep our old shops open once again.
