00:00 another real disappointing afternoon. A 2-1 loss to Luton Town, a fourth successive loss of Goodson
00:09 Park, really disappointing. This place is supposed to be a fortress for Everton, the crowds were up
00:15 for it and Everton yet again didn't deliver. They had enough chances, they started the game really
00:20 well. Started on the front foot after a way win to Brenford and Aston Villa respectively in the
00:25 Premier League and the Carabao Cup and some had hoped that things were turning for the better
00:31 for Everton, getting bodies back now from injury. As I say, they started well,
00:36 Dwight McNeil in the third minute put a volley just wise, Everton created chances, James Garner
00:41 put one just wise, Amadou Ognane had one, couldn't direct on target, same with Justin Garnier again
00:47 and then Everton were punished from two set pieces, Luton scored two goals from the seven-minute period
00:53 and they didn't heed the warning because Tom Lochia just put a header over the bar and
00:58 it was him in the 24th minute who opened the scoring. Carlton Morris won the header from a
01:05 corner, Callan's against the bar and Astor Young can't clear properly, get it down properly,
01:12 clears and Lochia just charges it down and the ball ricochets into the back of the net, 1-0 and
01:17 then seven minutes later Amadou Ognane gives away a free kick, Everton don't organise themselves
01:22 properly, Vitaly Mikhalenko's got two men at the back posts, he leaves Morris free and first time
01:27 volley puts it past Jovan Pickford, Everton responded, James Garner heads it against the bar
01:32 and then in the 45th minute they reduced the arrears, Everton threw Dominic Calvert-Lewin a
01:38 fair goal and in as many matches it was Garner who put the ball in and Amadou Ognane got something on
01:44 it, the Luton keeper made a save, Abdoulaye Dekori gets a follow-up and Calvert-Lewin bulls home and
01:50 going into half time, what can Everton do in the second half now because if they come out the way
01:54 they did in the first half they'll have a chance of not only equalising but winning this game but
01:58 in truth the game just petered out in the end, can't really remember a guilt-edged opportunity
02:04 for Everton in the second half, Beto come on as a sub and heads it on over the bar, Dominic
02:08 Calvert-Lewin volleys past the post, that was probably more desperation where he went for the
02:14 volley all sort of over his head with his left foot when there weren't a lot of options around him,
02:19 yes I say towards the end it was just aimless balls going forwards that were meat and drink
02:24 for the Luton rear guards who picked up their first win since being promoted to the Premier
02:30 League for the first time in the club's history, this should be three points all day for Everton
02:36 these sort of games and it's for that reason that Everton are going to be as things stand in another
02:41 relegation battle if you're not beating teams like Luton, Fulham on the open day, Wolves,
02:46 three favourable games, Arsenal maybe don't expect anything that from the other games,
02:51 they should have nine points on the board adding Sheffield United away where they should really
02:55 be winning as well, Sheffield United knew the promoters, it's looking like it's going to be
02:59 another dogfight for Everton this season definitely and Sean Dighty said it was a chance for Everton
03:03 to change the story as well but now Sean Dighty's got to start winning at home here because he's
03:08 had 13 games at Goodson Park and I think he's won four of them, drawn one and lost seven and
03:17 never scored more than once at home under Dice so I mean that's fine for Everton to do the right
03:26 things in the first half but when the game starts petering out he needs to come up with solutions
03:31 to make sure Everton are still creating chances and that's the biggest challenge for Dice now
03:35 because no Everton fans have been with them but four successive losses at home it's not great
03:43 reading for Everton, they play Bournemouth again in a week's time, if Everton don't get anything
03:49 from that game then they're going into the international break in a real malaise, apart
03:54 from that another talking point was the prospect of new owners, 777 Partners were here at Goodson
04:02 Park, Dice has already spoken to them, he says after the game he's already spoken about what's
04:06 going on at Everton just being not quite there, players just not quite stepping up and Everton
04:13 needs a leaser now, they're looking for leasers, there weren't too many on that pitch today,
04:17 there weren't too many who could come off and say 'I had a decent game there', it's going to be a
04:22 long week for Everton until the next game, plenty to work on and the training ground at Finch Farm
04:28 finish the 11-1, looting 2.
