West Virginia came to Amon G. Carter Stadium and left with a stunning 24-21 victory over TCU. West Virginia was on a three-game winning streak when they came into town, and the energy definitely showed.
TCU started off the first half dominant on both sides of the ball. With the score going into halftime at 21-14, Halftime was exactly what the Mountaineers needed because once the whistle blew at the start of the third quarter, it was a completely different ball game.
West Virginia quarterback Garrett Greene played well, going 10 for 21 with 142 yards and two touchdowns. Although throwing the ball wasn’t where the Mountaineers found success, Time possession and running the ball are the name of the game for West Virginia.
Chandler Morris still had good numbers, going 23 for 41 with 298 yards and 2 touchdowns. The lack of offensive line gave him little to no time to go through his progressions, which led to many three-and-outs.
In the press conference after the game, head coach Sonny Dykes said that the 3rd quarter offense for TCU was the worst offense he has ever seen as a coach and that they are going to have to get better as a team moving forward.
Dykes said, “We have looked good at times in flashes, but we have not consistently been able to do anything.”
TCU looks to rebound next weekend when they travel to Jack Trice Stadium to take on Iowa State next Saturday at 7:00 p.m.

00:04 West Virginia down TCU 24 to 21 in their second Big 12 matchup of the season.
00:09 Now the main takeaway from today's game is the word consistency.
00:12 In the first half, TCU played great on both sides of the ball.
00:15 But going into the second half, everything fell apart for TCU.
00:18 Offensively, the lack of offensive line and
00:20 three missed field goals is what ultimately cost them the game.
00:23 Taylor Morris went 23 for 41 with 298 yards and two touchdowns.
00:29 I spoke to head coach Sonny Dykes after the game and
00:31 he told me, ultimately tonight was on the offense.
00:34 If the offense can play that bad in the second half but
00:36 still be in a three point game, then hats off to the defense.
00:39 Because that's really hard to do.
00:41 TCU looks to rebound next weekend when they travel to Iowa to take on
00:44 Iowa State at 7 PM.
