The TCU Horned Frogs and the Iowa State Cyclones went head-to-head at Schollmaier Arena, and the Horned Frogs fell short by one point with a final score of 73-72. The team was led by Trevian Tennyson with 19 points, three rebounds, and three assists.

The Horned frogs started the game out weak with eight turnovers and only four points to show just within the first five minutes of the game and had a total of 18 turnovers in the 1st half.

Iowa State managed to get 29 points from TCU’s turnovers, more points than TCU was able to get on the board within the 1st half.

Iowa State guard Curtis Jones said ball pressure is something they emphasized throughout practice leading up to facing TCU.

“We preach ball pressure, and we consistently work on it in practice, and I think it got to them.”

The Horned Frogs ended the 1st half down by 18 points, 44-26.

TCU had a 7-0 start to the second half, but Cyclones quickly came back and dominated, forcing turnovers and gaining a 20-point lead. `

The Frogs managed to make their way back on the board at 2:19, making it a six-point game and cut down their turnovers to nine in the 2nd half.

Head coach Jamie Dixon said the team put up a fight in the second half but ultimately it was not enough.

“We fought back, and we were getting better in the 2nd half but there were still times of over penetration, we simplified our plays a bit, and were able to get some shots up,” said Dixon.” We responded, and we got better, and we just need to have better decision making.”

Iowa State scored 36 points off TCU’s 27 turnovers, while the Cyclones had a 13 total turnovers that TCU scored 13 points off of.

The Frogs now 13-5 will prepare to hit the road again to face Oklahoma State on Tuesday at 8 p.m. Tip-off is at Gallagher -Iba Arena and can be streamed on ESPN+.
