00:00 Good morning, I'm Sam Morton and here is your Daily Sussex News Bulletin on Monday,
00:04 October 2nd.
00:05 Some really sad news to start off with as a man has died and a woman is fighting for
00:09 her life in hospital after a serious collision in Horsham.
00:12 Police are now appealing for witnesses to the fatal collision on Saturday night which
00:16 left a third woman in a serious condition and two teenagers with minor injuries.
00:20 The collision, which involved two cars, happened on the A264 Rusper Road roundabout at about
00:25 7.20pm on Saturday.
00:28 This said, investigating officers are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision
00:31 or saw the two vehicles, a white BMW X5 and a black BMW 1 Series, being driven in the
00:37 area beforehand.
00:38 Meanwhile, the latest round of train strikes is set to continue in Sussex this week.
00:43 Govia Thameslink Railway, which operates Southern, Gatwick Express, Thameslink and Great Northern,
00:48 is warning customers that there will be no trains on the vast majority of its network
00:51 on Wednesday, owing to national industrial action by the Aslef Union.
00:56 Trains also did not operate on Saturday after Friday saw an amended timetable with fewer
01:00 trains due to an overtime ban.
01:02 This amended timetable will also affect passengers on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
01:08 On Thursday, first services will start later than normal.
01:10 Jenny Saunders, GTR's customer service director, said "We know how difficult this ongoing
01:14 national industrial action is for our customers and we're really sorry for the continued
01:18 inconvenience it's causing."
01:19 Finally, a Grade 2 listed property with a restaurant and bar is for sale on the Village
01:25 Green of Alfriston.
01:26 The East Sussex Village was recently named the best in Britain by Daily Telegraph senior
01:31 travel writer Greg Dickinson, who set his starting criteria for finding the best UK
01:35 village, whether it must have historic pubs, a great place to stay and eat, a national
01:39 park on its doorstep and the coast nearby.
01:42 This historic two bedroom property sits opposite a beautiful old Sussex church.
01:46 It is on the market with Roland Goring Estate agents freehold with an asking price of £700,000.
01:52 As well as a separate bar and restaurant area, it has three reception rooms and two double
01:56 bedrooms as well as a private living room and attractive cottage garden.
