00:05 An army of tankers arrived in St Leonard's this morning as a water company shut down
00:09 its pumping station. Southern Water is holding a three-day shutdown of Kink Ports Pumping
00:15 Station in Bulverhithe from today until Friday. More than 50 tankers are based along St Leonard's
00:21 seafront and opposite the old bathing pool site. Specialist equipment has also been set
00:26 up and Bulverhithe car park has been closed throughout the duration of the shutdown. Southern
00:31 Water said the move is part of ongoing works to find a solution in order to stop the main
00:35 sewer in the area from bursting. A landscaper from Eastbourne said he ended up in hospital
00:41 as a result of health issues caused by black mould in his council house. Ryan Standen of
00:46 Westerham Road said he does not feel comfortable in his home and has to sleep in the living
00:50 room due to damp and mould. He believes the conditions in his home are responsible for
00:56 the illnesses which he had previously seen him hospitalised and more recently had to
01:00 call an ambulance due to difficulty in breathing. He said the issues have also had a massive
01:04 impact financially due to the amount of heating he needs to keep the house warm. The council
01:10 has now apologised and said works for the property have begun. Finally, a public inquiry
01:15 to determine the future of the green gap between Worthing and Farring has been delayed. Proposals
01:20 for a 475 home development at Chatsmore Farm were refused by Worthing Borough Council and
01:26 has even been the subject of a High Court battle. A new public inquiry on plans had
01:31 been scheduled for Tuesday February 6th as the developer continues to push to be allowed
01:35 to build on the land. The start of the Chatsmore Farm public inquiry has unfortunately had
01:40 to be delayed because the planning inspector involved is ill, a spokesperson for Worthing
01:44 Borough Council said. The first day of evidence was due to be on Tuesday at Worthing Town
01:49 Hall but that has been cancelled. Instead, the inquiry is now due to begin a week later.
01:54 This comes after protesters gathered at the land to form the word 'no' on Saturday.
