00:06 A woman suffered a serious injury after being involved in a collision with a police car
00:10 during a pursuit of a vehicle in East Sussex on Sunday.
00:13 Sussex Police said the incident began when a driver of the vehicle failed to stop for
00:16 police in St James Street, Brighton shortly after midnight.
00:20 During the incident there was a collision involving a police vehicle and a passenger
00:23 who had exited the suspect vehicle at the junction of Sutton Avenue and Arundel Road
00:27 West in Peacehaven.
00:29 A woman was taken to hospital for treatment for a serious injury but has since been discharged.
00:34 Sussex Police is reviewing the incident and as it involved police contact resulting in
00:38 an injury it has been referred to the Independent Office of Police Conduct as per standard procedure.
00:43 Police said the suspect vehicle was eventually stopped by police on the A27 near the Beddingham
00:47 roundabout at about half past midnight.
00:50 Nathan Blackham, a builder of Braddingclothes Eastbourne, has been charged with dangerous
00:54 driving following the pursuit.
00:56 Police said Blackham was charged with dangerous driving, failing to stop when directed by
00:59 a police officer and driving while over the prescribed limit for alcohol.
01:03 He has been bailed to appear before Brighton Magistrates Court on December 7th.
01:07 Meanwhile a gardens centre in West Sussex which suddenly closed down last month is set
01:11 to reopen under new ownership.
01:13 Findon Gardens Centre ceased trading on Friday September 15th.
01:17 The business revealed its closure in a sign left outside the premises.
01:20 One month on it has been officially announced that the gardens centre will be serving customers
01:24 once again in the near future and will now be known as the Findon Vale Gardens Centre.
01:29 The local garden centre group are excited to announce the acquisition of Findon Gardens
01:32 Centre read a Facebook post by the new owners.
01:35 The family owned business operates three other centres including a new flagship store at
01:39 Alva Valley in Gosport and Stansted Park.
01:42 The centre will partially reopen with a coffee shop in November, the new owners revealed.
01:46 They added the priority on recruitment will be to previous employees, improvements to
01:50 the centre will be significant and subject to planning, take over a year to complete
01:54 and guarantee high quality employment and a wonderful facility for the community.
01:59 Finally work has started on a major development comprising of 151 new homes and an Audi supermarket
02:05 at the former Ashdown House site in St Leonards.
02:08 Workmen have arrived at the site in Harrow Lane following the recent completion of demolition
02:12 works on the building, which was formerly used by the Department of Work and Pensions
02:16 and other businesses.
02:17 Teams first arrived at the disused building late last year to strip it out before the
02:21 main demolition work, which commenced in January this year.
02:25 Plans for the mixed use development scheme on land between Settlescombe Road North and
02:29 Harrow Lane were given the go ahead by Hastings Borough Council in January last year.
02:33 The site is to be redeveloped to include 151 new homes, a community centre and a new Audi
02:38 supermarket building.
02:39 Plans for the new store were announced in September 2021 as part of the redevelopment
02:44 with up to 50 jobs expected to be created as a result.
02:47 Construction of the houses is expected to be completed by the end of 2024.
