00:02 - Hi, I'm Melissa Priddle, Detroit editor for Motor Trend
00:23 and I am here with Tim Herrick,
00:25 who is vice president,
00:27 - Global product.
00:28 - Global product program.
00:29 - Yes, you got it.
00:30 - So we're gonna start at launch with two engines.
00:33 We're gonna have, tell us about the gas engine first,
00:36 a 6.2 liter.
00:36 - We have a 6.2 liter, 420 horsepower.
00:40 It's a V8.
00:41 It has dynamic fuel management.
00:43 That's kind of come along in the architecture
00:45 where you can virtually turn on and off different cylinders,
00:49 depending upon what the customer wants
00:51 for great fuel economy.
00:53 We've coupled that with a 10 speed transmission.
00:55 The 10 speed is a standard across the architecture
00:58 for us in the Escalade.
01:00 Then we have a second engine.
01:02 We have a diesel.
01:03 - Which you've not had before in an Escalade.
01:05 - Yeah, no, I've never had a diesel in an Escalade.
01:08 - So it's not gonna be the volume engine,
01:10 but it's gonna offer something a little different
01:12 for the customer that maybe the competition doesn't.
01:15 - Yeah, it offers great towing.
01:16 It offers great fuel economy.
01:19 This brand has a global reach.
01:21 There's parts of the regions that it will go to
01:23 where diesels are required.
01:25 Now with that, with the drive,
01:27 you know it's not just about how it handles
01:29 and how the steering feels in your hand.
01:30 It's also about how quiet it is.
01:32 There are some acoustic treatments that we put on
01:35 to the Escalade that talk to that customer,
01:38 quiet it down and things like that.
01:40 So we thought of everything.
01:41 It's just natural for our technology leader in Escalade
01:45 to come out and launch with Super Cruise.
01:47 And then one of the features that we added
01:49 was lane change on demand.
01:52 You hit the blinker, it looks for an opening,
01:55 it puts you in the opening and changes the lane for you.
01:57 - And three different suspension choices?
02:00 - There's the base suspension.
02:03 You can put on to that a MR suspension.
02:06 This is the fourth generation.
02:08 Magnet Ride suspension.
02:09 At 60 miles an hour, every inch of the road,
02:11 it is measuring and adapting that suspension to the road.
02:16 And especially kind of where you and I drive.
02:18 - Michigan potholes.
02:19 - Well, you know, it does great.
02:21 Then you can layer on top of that, the air suspension.
02:24 And that's something that we haven't had either.
02:27 It lowers as you're driving three quarters of an inch
02:30 for safety, 'cause the lower CG.
02:34 And also aero for better fuel economy and efficiency.
02:38 And then I guess the last part of that being
02:40 the entry egress for the vehicle.
02:43 We can drop it two inches and you can program that,
02:47 that when you get in and out of it, it's two inches lower.
02:49 There's always more to come.
02:50 You know, the sun never sets on Cadillac
02:53 and especially for the Escalade.
02:55 So, you know, we may be talking again.
02:57 - Perfect.
02:58 Well, Tim, thank you very, very much.
