Transcript
00:00 This is the 2017 Ford GT. Built from the ground up to go fast.
00:10 This tub is made of carbon fiber. Its front and rear structural braces are aluminum.
00:15 There's even a built-in steel roll cage in the car. The 3.5 liter twin turbo
00:21 EcoBoost V6 makes over 600 horsepower and feels every bit of it. The Ford GT has
00:26 five drive modes. Normal, Wet, Sport which sharpens up throttle response, Track which
00:32 drops the car two inches and raises the rear spoiler, and V-Max mode which takes
00:36 the track mode, drops the spoiler, and makes the car capable of hitting its 200 plus mile per hour top speed.
00:41 The GT may go on sale the end of the month, but Ford is still not talking
00:45 horsepower numbers, still not talking torque figures, not telling us the top
00:49 speed, they won't even let us show you certain parts of the car. But we're lucky
00:53 enough to get an opportunity to go for a ride in the GT.
00:57 Every beautiful line on the Ford GT has its purpose. The flying buttresses hide
01:06 the piping for the turbochargers and intercoolers. The air vents behind the
01:10 front wheels channel air out of the Formula One style keel. With a multi-matic
01:15 DSSV shocks which have an incredible ability to bounce off curbing without
01:19 upsetting the car, keeping it planted on the ground. For maximum downforce, the active rear wing
01:25 includes a built-in gurney flap that changes shape as you drive. Ford is going
01:29 to have this GT EPA certified. They're going to tweak the instrument cluster
01:33 software and revised transmission tuning. The starting price is at least $450,000.
01:39 Ford plans on building 250 per year through 2020, with the very first car
01:43 going to Bill Ford by December 31st.
