On this episode of Roadkill powered by Dodge
Transcript
00:00 This time on Roadkill, we had no plan whatsoever.
00:03 That turned into a clapped out Datsun mini truck,
00:05 an epic road trip, a massive purchase,
00:08 and a lot of tire smoke.
00:10 Ready?
00:10 (engine revving)
00:13 - Yeah!
00:15 (engine revving)
00:18 (tires screeching)
00:23 (rock music)
00:28 (rock music)
00:30 (engine revving)
00:40 (rock music)
00:46 - The Maserati did not get the mini truck
00:47 out of your system?
00:48 - No, nothing ever will.
00:49 - Really?
00:51 - Once mini trucks get under your skin,
00:53 they don't get out.
00:54 - They sort of fester?
00:55 - It's like scabies.
00:56 (laughing)
00:58 - We're up near Pismo Beach, California.
01:00 Not exactly sure where, sort of off in the boondocks.
01:03 And we're buying our car for this episode,
01:05 which is a mini truck.
01:06 Now Finnegan has like a mini truck kink.
01:09 He used to be the editor of Mini Truck Magazine,
01:11 and every time he brings it up,
01:12 I'm sort of sketched out by it,
01:13 because all I think of is crazy '80s graphics
01:15 and too big of wheels and all sorts of things.
01:17 But then there's this, the 1968 Datsun, which I dig.
01:22 Not because it's well executed,
01:24 but because it is stanced just the right way.
01:26 This thing is chopped, the A-pillars are laid back,
01:29 they've sectioned the bed down
01:30 so that the wheels are really low, it's on air.
01:33 I think it's really cool.
01:34 I just don't know if this thing's gonna make it
01:35 on the freeway.
01:36 How's it going?
01:37 - Good.
01:38 - You're a mini trucker.
01:40 - So are you, huh?
01:41 - That's what he says.
01:42 - I still claim it, I just wasn't sure if you would.
01:44 How you doing?
01:45 - John.
01:46 - Mike. - David Preiberger.
01:47 How are you? - Nice to meet you guys.
01:47 - You too.
01:48 Did you build this or buy it?
01:49 - Bought it.
01:50 - Yeah?
01:51 This is so cool.
01:52 This is built by a mini trucker,
01:53 you can tell by the welds.
01:55 This is better than the Jeep run.
01:58 - You think?
01:59 Like better engineered or better sketchy?
02:01 - No, no, this is better engineered.
02:04 - Have you ever driven it?
02:05 - Yeah.
02:06 - Yeah? - Drove it yesterday.
02:06 - Really? - Yeah.
02:07 - Cool.
02:08 So we're gonna survive?
02:09 - We'll see.
02:12 (laughing)
02:13 I got it in fourth gear, so.
02:14 - Yeah?
02:15 Oh, it's a stick?
02:16 - The compressor.
02:19 - Yeah, what kind of travels in the airbags?
02:21 - They go up big.
02:22 - Yeah?
02:23 - Yeah, it gets,
02:24 it gets really up here. - Oh, no way.
02:25 So you can actually steer it?
02:27 - You can steer it, yeah.
02:28 Front goes up pretty high.
02:29 - Oh, wow.
02:31 I'm falling in love.
02:32 So two things landed us here.
02:34 Number one, I love old Datsuns.
02:36 And number two, my car cutting up career
02:39 started with mini trucks.
02:41 I've owned, I think, four of them.
02:43 And almost all of them were chopped up,
02:46 airbagged, body dropped.
02:48 You never get 'em out of your system
02:49 once you drag something down the highway
02:51 and throw sparks and stop traffic.
02:53 That never leaves you, so.
02:55 When I spotted this on Craigslist,
02:57 I knew we had to come here.
02:59 - Feels like I'm 20 again.
03:00 - Ooh, good.
03:02 Now it's a little bit of a tail dragger.
03:04 Looks cool.
03:05 There you go.
03:07 - Oh, yeah.
03:08 Oh, this thing's comfy.
03:10 - Yeah, you look good in there.
03:10 - Yeah, there's really no problem with this at all.
03:13 - Definitely mini truck around.
03:14 Polished the valve cover.
03:16 - Yep.
03:17 - But didn't clean the motor at all.
03:17 - This is pretty standard mini truck.
03:19 - Well, we need to test drive it before we buy it.
03:21 - We do?
03:22 - Yeah.
03:22 - Oh, where's your sense of adventure?
03:24 - You're right, let's just buy it.
03:26 (laughing)
03:28 - This is roadkill, dude.
03:29 Man, this thing is cool.
03:30 It's only about this much better than our flat rod Jeep,
03:34 but it's got a way more wicked look to it.
03:36 I dig it.
03:37 You know, a lot of time,
03:38 Finnegan and I will get a new car for roadkill
03:40 and we'll sit around going,
03:41 "Man, is it a keeper?
03:42 "What should we do?"
03:43 I think this one's gonna be a keeper.
03:44 We can make this really good.
03:46 This thing is probably gonna kill me.
03:48 I mean, we're gonna die.
03:50 There's no doubt about it.
03:51 My back is gonzo.
03:53 - Let's go mini trucking.
03:54 - Okay.
03:55 - Pay the man.
03:56 (upbeat music)
03:59 And we're mini trucking, not the floor.
04:05 - Oh, nice.
04:06 (upbeat music)
04:08 - Chick's are digging us already, though.
04:14 - It's 180 miles to LA.
04:16 We can do this.
04:17 (upbeat music)
04:21 I just wait for the first time.
04:22 I grind the frame on the ground and kill my teeth.
04:27 - Are you ready?
04:27 - No, don't do it.
04:28 - I think that'll happen.
04:29 I think that'll happen.
04:31 (upbeat music)
04:33 - I can hear the driveline vibration already.
04:39 - Nope, parts are falling off already.
04:43 - Oh, you didn't need that.
04:46 - Does it smell hot to you?
04:48 - Nah.
04:49 - Did you check any fluids?
04:51 - Nah.
04:52 - We didn't even test drive it.
04:54 (laughing)
04:57 - I feel like we're too high.
05:00 (engine revving)
05:04 (laughing)
05:06 (upbeat music)
05:13 (engine revving)
05:16 - Wait a minute, I need to set the e-brake.
05:31 (engine crashing)
05:33 Here's the thing.
05:35 This is like Finnegan's teenage dream vehicle
05:38 and I have my teenage dream vehicle,
05:40 significantly more expensive than this one.
05:42 Yeah, there's a 71 Roadrunner up in Pioneer, California
05:45 that I really want and I actually got permission
05:48 from my wife, even though it's a lot of money
05:50 and I'm non-committal, but we're sort of headed
05:54 that direction, so I might pick that thing up.
05:57 Right when we got off the freeway here,
05:58 I'm deaf, I'm wind blind and all of a sudden
06:03 the dash lights up with red and yellow.
06:05 So I'm like, that's it, we're going to jail.
06:07 We're getting pulled over.
06:08 Thank God it was an ambulance or something.
06:10 We're just floating down the highway
06:11 and it's the mini truck.
06:13 How can you not smile while driving one of those
06:16 and getting bugs in your teeth?
06:17 (engine revving)
06:21 This morning we're in Paso Robles, California
06:25 and Fred Williams from Dirt Every Day lives here,
06:27 like over there somewhere.
06:28 So we're going to go visit him and find out
06:30 if we can park this underneath one of his trucks.
06:33 And I want to force him to drive this around the block
06:35 'cause he's used to stuff that sits up here
06:37 and sits down here.
06:39 (man whooping)
06:42 - Think you can get the hood under there?
06:44 - I can get the bed of the truck under there.
06:45 I don't know if we can get the...
06:47 The cab's not going under that,
06:49 but the bed is going under that.
06:52 - Think so?
06:53 - Oh yeah.
06:54 - Fred baby, we're going to park under your truck.
06:57 Look at this cute little thing.
06:59 - Want a bit?
07:01 - Yeah, back it up.
07:02 There you go.
07:05 (engine revving)
07:08 - Just don't hit that drive shaft.
07:10 - You got it.
07:11 You got about two inches on that drive shaft.
07:13 - Yeah, you can go two or three inches.
07:15 - Go, go, go.
07:16 (engine revving)
07:19 - There we go.
07:21 - This thing's awesome.
07:22 We're going to force Fred to drive this turd
07:24 and we're going to drive that.
07:26 - Oh, geez.
07:28 - It's awful, isn't it?
07:30 - Yeah.
07:31 - I'm just going to use that as a step.
07:33 - Does this have seatbelts?
07:34 Look at that, we have seatbelts.
07:36 (upbeat music)
07:38 Oh, I can actually see the link bar mount
07:47 moving on the chassis.
07:49 Part of me is enjoying this.
07:50 The other part of me is like,
07:51 oh boy, if he drags a hole in the gas tank,
07:53 we're going to have to fix that.
07:54 We'll just take this all the way to wherever we're going.
07:57 (upbeat music)
07:59 Is that you shaking us left to right?
08:04 No.
08:05 It's doing it.
08:08 What a pile.
08:09 The flat spots in the tires will work their way out
08:12 once the tires get a little warm from rolling.
08:15 Pull up just so I can't see him,
08:17 which is right there.
08:19 How's your rear view look?
08:24 - Oh, it looks awesome.
08:25 All I see is front differential Dana 60.
08:28 - Here we go.
08:29 Have fun, Fred.
08:31 (upbeat music)
08:34 Don't run into it.
09:01 (laughing)
09:03 I swear I thought he was going to run over a little deep.
09:08 So Fred went back to his land of four wheelering
09:11 or whatever he does.
09:12 And we were going to keep on going north
09:14 until we realized there was dirt all over the hood
09:16 of this thing blowing straight in our eyes.
09:18 And we had to do something about it.
09:20 No lumber racks, no ladder racks, no dual links.
09:23 We're good.
09:23 - Oh yeah.
09:24 We've had worse ideas than this one.
09:26 You can't drive around in a dirty truck, man.
09:29 It just doesn't work.
09:30 Make sure you get the rainbow polish.
09:34 Not responsible for mirrors.
09:36 Don't have those.
09:37 Rear windshield, don't have that.
09:38 Wipers, don't have that.
09:40 Antennas, bug shield, sun visor, prior damage.
09:44 (coughing)
09:45 Oh my God.
09:46 What's in that soap?
09:48 See, now that feels good.
09:49 The next step.
09:54 Oh, I forgot about the jet dryer.
09:55 No stopping now.
09:58 (engine roaring)
10:01 All right, we're good.
10:02 - Oh, here it comes.
10:02 - Oh, here it comes already.
10:04 - He's flinging GoPro cameras at our face.
10:06 - That's what I said.
10:07 - Oh, hell no.
10:11 - Oh, this is going to be hard to--
10:12 - Oh boy.
10:13 (laughing)
10:15 - Why are we doing this?
10:18 Just think, this is the driest part of the program.
10:21 (laughing)
10:25 (engine roaring)
10:28 - Wow.
10:28 - All right, we're clear.
10:30 (laughing)
10:33 - Thank you for not getting the spotless rinse
10:36 and the spray wax.
10:37 - No!
10:40 - Oh, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.
10:41 I don't want that.
10:42 (screaming)
10:43 (laughing)
10:46 - That was the worst.
10:47 - That's very waxy.
10:48 - Here comes the blow job.
10:51 - I want you to linger here.
10:53 - Oh, that's cold.
10:55 - It's freezing.
10:56 - It's very cold.
10:57 - It's freezing.
10:59 - Very cold.
11:00 Okay, I think you can drive now.
11:03 (screaming)
11:08 - Oh my, that's so cold.
11:10 - Truck's clean.
11:17 - I feel better now.
11:18 - I actually feel pretty good.
11:19 - Yeah.
11:21 - If you're wondering.
11:23 - No, it ain't worth it.
11:25 Don't do this.
11:26 - Yeah, don't do it.
11:26 - If you're thinking about this.
11:28 - Just pull the plug.
11:30 - Yeah.
11:30 - Not worth it.
11:31 - Not good.
11:32 (upbeat music)
11:35 - We've been driving and suffering
11:45 on our way out of Paso Robles up north.
11:47 And so we've taken protective measures.
11:51 (engine roaring)
11:53 - Oh, dude.
11:54 You see that guy?
11:59 - No.
12:00 - There's a good passing those cars coming right at us.
12:05 Wow.
12:08 We're like halfway to Fresno now
12:18 and just driving this thing is a fully immersive experience
12:23 with no windshield.
12:24 It's like riding a motorcycle.
12:26 You get every bug on your glasses.
12:28 You got wind in your face.
12:30 You smell every cow that you drive past,
12:33 every slaughterhouse, every diesel truck.
12:36 It's kind of a disaster.
12:37 And the other thing is you drive this thing wide open
12:40 all the time and it goes 55 miles an hour
12:43 and that's all you get.
12:44 So this is gonna turn into a long night.
12:47 It is seven o'clock right now.
12:50 We got about another two and a half hours to go.
12:52 (upbeat music)
12:55 - I'm having a wagon flashback.
13:08 - Me too.
13:09 - To Wichita.
13:10 - At least we're not sharing this time.
13:11 Although I'm equally homeless.
13:13 - This is about that cold.
13:14 You do look homeless.
13:16 - Dude, so it's only like, I don't know,
13:18 55 out or something.
13:20 But when you're going 55, 60 miles an hour,
13:23 the wind chill is really bad.
13:26 And I had a bug hit my lens that like,
13:29 it left its liver on me.
13:31 It was that big.
13:33 It was so bad.
13:34 You always want to travel the 99 through California
13:39 when you're trying to avoid bugs
13:40 'cause you have no windshield.
13:42 Not.
13:44 (wind chimes)
13:46 - I think it's colder today than it was yesterday.
13:49 - Because you're about to drop 11 grand on a car
13:51 that you may or may not actually like in person,
13:54 but will be forced to spend the money because,
13:56 well, that's what this whole episode is about.
13:58 - It's what it became.
14:00 Tell you what, I will drive from here to there
14:02 so that you, when you take the bullet later.
14:04 - Oh no, no, no, I'm a man.
14:06 I got this.
14:06 - When did that start?
14:07 - As soon as I realized the sun's on that side
14:09 of the truck this morning.
14:11 And my people don't do well with sunshine.
14:13 - I'm thinking that's north.
14:15 - Right, there's the sun.
14:17 Your side of the truck.
14:18 - Has the sun.
14:19 - Yeah.
14:20 - Warm.
14:21 - Oh yeah.
14:23 (laughing)
14:24 But sunburning.
14:25 You'll be on fire by the time we get to the next exit.
14:27 - I'm plenty good with that.
14:28 - That's what I'm telling myself.
14:30 - This, by the way, was the best $2.50 I've ever spent.
14:34 (upbeat music)
14:37 (engine revving)
14:39 - This road looks like the end of Dirty, Merry, Crazy Larry.
14:55 - Yeah, it's almost exactly on the way.
14:57 We should check it out.
14:59 - That's not morbid at all.
15:00 - Yep, right here.
15:01 - This does look familiar.
15:04 - Yeah, I think they were coming this way maybe.
15:06 - There's the tracks.
15:07 Which are no longer in use.
15:11 This is kind of a geeky thing,
15:14 but one of my favorite car chase movies
15:17 is Dirty, Merry, Crazy Larry.
15:19 I think 1974, Peter Fonda, Susan George,
15:23 even Roddy McDowell's in it.
15:24 But at the very, very end of the movie.
15:27 - Well, don't give away the ending.
15:28 - But the scene looked a lot like our career.
15:31 And it happens right there at the railroad tracks.
15:35 This is the very, very end of that movie.
15:37 - You drive better than Fonda.
15:41 (upbeat music)
15:47 the map. (laughing)
15:52 (upbeat music)
15:54 (laughing)
16:12 - It's your car.
16:20 - We brought all the death with us.
16:23 - How are you guys doing?
16:24 - How's it going?
16:24 - Pretty good.
16:25 - I'm David.
16:26 - Brian.
16:27 - How you doing?
16:28 I'm Mike.
16:29 - Hi.
16:29 - Nice to meet you.
16:30 - David.
16:31 - Hi.
16:32 - Here's Henry.
16:33 - Hey Henry.
16:34 - Henry's gonna be shy,
16:34 but they watch you guys all the time.
16:35 - Oh cool, thanks guys.
16:36 - Cool.
16:37 - Yeah.
16:38 - So how long have you had the Roadrunner for?
16:39 - We've had that for just about a year.
16:40 - And when you got it, it had been sitting a long time?
16:42 - Sitting a long time, yeah.
16:44 - He has the air grabber too.
16:45 - This is a big car.
16:50 - Yeah, B bodies are not small.
16:52 Well, we're here acquiring my '71 Roadrunner.
16:55 This story all starts right here.
16:58 See this scar all the way up and down my arm?
17:00 Got a metal plate in there
17:01 and a bunch of drywall screws holding me together.
17:03 I got hit by a car walking home from high school
17:06 when I was 17.
17:07 And there was no suing anybody back then,
17:09 but the insurance company went,
17:10 "Here, have $11,000."
17:11 And in 1986, that's like a really big deal.
17:14 And as soon as I turned 19,
17:15 that money was burning a hole in my pocket
17:17 and I bought a '71 440 six-pack,
17:20 four-speed, triple black Roadrunner with an air grabber.
17:24 And my father hated it.
17:26 I ended up selling it.
17:27 I've always wanted another one.
17:29 I bought a '72, but that wasn't good enough for me.
17:31 I had to have just the right car.
17:33 And finally, Brian here emailed me
17:36 because he saw my Facebook pleas
17:38 asking for anybody who had a '71 Roadrunner out there.
17:41 And he emailed the Roadkill email address
17:43 and sent me a bunch of pictures.
17:44 And here we are.
17:46 We're gonna drive it home.
17:47 The inside is just like the Roadrunner
17:49 that I had when I was 19.
17:51 Wanna see in the trunk here?
17:52 Sounds like a low car, doesn't it?
17:55 - Yeah, it does.
17:56 That sounds exactly like every one I've ever had.
17:57 - This thing has an interesting combination
17:59 of options in that I've never seen a car
18:04 actually optioned with a tough wheel before.
18:06 - Yeah, that was kinda neat.
18:07 And it's on the original window sticker.
18:09 - Right, I know, I read the window sticker.
18:10 - Yeah, which is kinda cool.
18:12 - This is a nice car.
18:14 - Yeah, I really like it because it's--
18:16 - Meet me before it works.
18:17 Henry, you wanna show 'em?
18:18 - Yeah, go meet me.
18:20 Did you know they have this?
18:21 (car horn honking)
18:23 It's like Roadrunner.
18:24 - And he might have hit a coyote with this.
18:26 - I know, I saw that.
18:27 - Yeah, it's either a dog or a coyote.
18:29 - This is awesome.
18:30 - Yeah, it all worked out.
18:31 But here.
18:33 - Pay the man, let's go do donuts.
18:34 - Let's go do donuts?
18:36 - Yeah.
18:37 - Oh, it has that same 700 pound door I remember.
18:39 - Yes.
18:40 - Okay, what's the starting trick?
18:42 - Little bit of gas.
18:43 (engine revving)
18:45 - Oh, nice.
18:45 - Yeah.
18:46 This is a great car, Fryburger.
18:49 - Now I'm excited.
18:50 I was stressed out before, now I'm happy.
18:53 This is good.
18:53 - This is one of those rare moments in life
18:55 where I'm genuinely happy to see Fryburger
18:57 smiling about a car.
18:59 I think he just bought his high school dream car.
19:02 You would think the Super V is his dream car,
19:03 but really that's just the car he's had
19:06 ever since he was 16.
19:07 I don't think he truly loves it.
19:08 This car, I think he's in love with.
19:12 And he's gonna buy it and drive it all the way back to LA
19:14 from this mountain.
19:15 And that's a pretty epic road trip right there.
19:18 This is really good too.
19:20 This makes me super excited
19:21 'cause my old one had an air grabber.
19:23 Okay, I'm thinking crosswise like this.
19:27 - Okay.
19:28 - You wanna just go up and over?
19:29 - Sure.
19:30 - Well, I'm ready to drive nine hours home.
19:35 I know Fryburger is.
19:38 I believe we're done here.
19:40 So now I guess we head for home
19:42 and hope this thing actually makes it.
19:44 He's only driven it about an hour at a time, he said,
19:47 and just locally.
19:48 So this could be a bit of a mystery.
19:51 (upbeat music)
20:07 Okay, I'm having a problem and I can't tell
20:09 if it's the engine surging
20:13 or if it's the transmission slipping.
20:17 Very strange.
20:18 Oh, it's engine for sure.
20:21 So this is brilliant.
20:22 Finnegan took off.
20:24 He was like running way ahead of me with the dots
20:26 and this thing is surging really badly.
20:29 At first I thought the transmission was slipping,
20:32 but then I realized that the engine is bucking.
20:36 See, it runs fine at idle and it runs fine in neutral,
20:39 but cruising down the highway,
20:40 it's just like constant hesitation.
20:42 Oh, this is sweet.
20:44 Check out the float.
20:45 Oh, see?
20:46 There you go.
20:47 That's what it did.
20:48 I'm gonna call fuel filter somewhere or lack of one.
20:54 That is probably it.
20:56 The filter is pretty dirty.
20:58 So I guess I'm gonna cruise till I hit another parts store
21:00 and buy a screwdriver and a filter and keep cruising.
21:06 (engine rumbling)
21:08 How come the Datsun's more reliable than my Roadrunner?
21:11 That's annoying.
21:14 (upbeat music)
21:18 Hey.
21:27 - Hey.
21:28 - You make a 20 mile round trip to visit me?
21:30 - No, no, 30.
21:31 - 30?
21:32 - Which means to just get back to where I was
21:35 is 60 miles.
21:37 - Right.
21:38 - I'm glad we got some miles under our belt
21:39 before it got cold out tonight.
21:41 - How come the Datsun's reliable
21:42 and this thing's already breaking down?
21:43 - What happened?
21:45 - It surges real bad and it starts when it's warm.
21:49 The fuel filter looks really clogged,
21:51 but the fuel line is also like run right
21:55 between the water pump and the block.
21:57 So I'm gonna run the fuel line cool
22:00 and put a new filter in it.
22:02 (engine rumbling)
22:05 Found your problem.
22:07 - Or it could be that.
22:10 - Yeah.
22:10 (laughing)
22:12 That's exactly what was wrong with the ramp truck.
22:14 Remember when it surged? - That's incredible.
22:17 - Look, diagnosed just like that.
22:18 I didn't have to come back 30 miles.
22:20 - No, it's a good thing you did.
22:21 I wouldn't have figured that out.
22:23 With the points ignition, that's a real thing.
22:26 - With any ignition, that's a real thing.
22:28 So we're staying here tonight, right?
22:32 We're drinking?
22:33 - Well, the fuel filter is still really clogged.
22:36 - Might as well work.
22:39 (laughing)
22:41 (upbeat music)
22:44 - The battery repair, while critical, was not the fix.
23:00 I got out there on the highway and this thing is still
23:02 just like bucking and surging
23:03 and it actually started backfiring.
23:06 - Mini truck's starting to look pretty good
23:07 right about now.
23:08 - Pretty sure the fuel filter is clogged,
23:12 so I'm changing it, but I'm also rerouting the fuel line
23:16 because this problem seems to get worse
23:18 as the car gets hotter.
23:19 - It's a nice night to change a filter
23:23 and have that not fix the problem.
23:24 - I need to arrange something to tie this down
23:28 so that it doesn't get in either the fan
23:31 or the damper or the belt.
23:33 Okay, what's gonna happen now is yesterday,
23:36 I bought this beanie and I cut this end open
23:39 so that I could wear it over my head
23:41 to protect my face in the Datsun.
23:44 And now, all of this is gonna become
23:47 life-saving zip tie replacement.
23:50 So I'll be using this to tie my new fuel hose
23:54 down to the K-member so that it does not interfere
23:57 with the fan.
23:58 Okay, well, the string off the hat was good.
24:01 I have to admit, I did pack shoes on this trip,
24:03 but clearly don't need them,
24:04 and so I went and got the shoestring off my sneaker,
24:07 which I am now going to use as a zip tie.
24:10 All right, I say let's try it.
24:12 I hope this junk is fixed.
24:19 - It's gotta be fixed.
24:20 We don't have any more tools to fix other things
24:22 that might be broke.
24:23 - Well, the test drive lasted about one block,
24:27 and then it died again.
24:28 So we got out and just started wiggling every wire
24:31 that we could, and it turns out that I saw a little spark
24:34 coming from the positive side of the coil,
24:36 and that was it.
24:36 So we found it was loose.
24:38 That'll fix it, right?
24:40 - Yes.
24:43 - Confidence level high.
24:44 Of course, it was also on the completely clogged filter,
24:48 and it was also on the completely loose battery cable.
24:52 You know, these things all needed to be repaired.
24:54 I always say you never really get your old car sorted out
24:56 until you take a road trip, so we are.
24:58 Okay, let's go.
25:01 (upbeat rock music)
25:05 So that's the story of Finnegan's sort of dream Datsun
25:22 and my complete dream '71 Roadrunner.
25:27 There's really a debate at this point
25:28 whether we're keeping the Datsun around or not.
25:30 It is just so cool.
25:31 It has just the right look, but is it good enough
25:35 that we actually wanna fix it?
25:36 I know we wanna bolt some titanium blocks to the thing
25:39 and throw some sparks, but the '71 Roadrunner,
25:43 that one's a keeper, and you will see that
25:45 on future episodes of "Roadkill Garage,"
25:47 where we're gonna tune this thing up big time.
25:50 But meanwhile, it's tire smoke and throwing sparks
25:53 until next time on "Roadkill."
25:56 You can find all the parts from these builds
25:58 by visiting jegs.com/roadkill.
26:01 (laughing)
26:04 I should've closed my mouth.
26:17 - That was horrible.
26:18 - Are we done?
26:23 - I don't know, I hope so.
26:25 (laughing)
