00:00 George Breece reporting for Liverpool World outside of Finch Farm after
00:03 Sean Dyches just addressed the media ahead of his side's game against Bournemouth
00:06 this weekend. In terms of team news it's been all positive for Dyches this week as
00:09 there are only three long-term absentees to consider in terms of Seamus Coleman,
00:13 Andrea Gomez and Dele Alli while the rest of the squad remains unchanged for
00:17 the game this weekend. In terms of the injured trio, Coleman and Gomez are
00:20 slowly building up their match fitness and are close to returning to a matchday
00:23 squad soon but Dele Alli is seen as a longer-term absentee. One of the main
00:27 talking points from the press conference was the fact that Jarrett Brantway is
00:30 nearing agreeing a new contract with the club. Dyches said that things are close
00:34 and progressing well and it seems like the 21-year-old is going to be rewarded
00:38 for his strong form at the start of the season with a new deal. He reports this week
00:42 that Brantway have been monitored by the likes of Manchester United and
00:45 Manchester City ahead of the January window and the summer window next year.
00:49 It seems his strong form is starting to catch the eye of other teams and Dyches was
00:52 quick to reiterate that he is a fine young player who is progressing really
00:55 well at the club so far. He also responded to claims Everton need to be
00:58 more attacking following their 2-1 loss at home to Luton last week. Dyches was
01:02 quick to mention expected goals and Everton sit 10th in the Premier League
01:05 table with 12.6 for their expected goals statistic. They've only scored six goals
01:11 so far this season including just one at Goodison Park and they've massively
01:14 underperformed so far in terms of that statistic and he remains positive with
01:18 his attacking options despite their shortcomings in front of goal so far this
01:21 season. But he also claimed that it's hard for Dominic Cavallone and Beto to play in
01:25 the same lineup after being asked about the potential of a strike partnership.
01:28 As he says both of them have been used to playing on their own across their
01:30 careers so far so it's unlikely that we'll see that tactic used unless it was
01:34 a very desperate situation but it's certainly not out of the question for
01:37 the future. I was also lucky enough to ask Dyches a question today about James
01:40 Garner and his recent form and the fanfare about his recent positioning out
01:44 wide rather than being in central midfield. He performed really strongly
01:47 against Aston Villa and Brentford whilst performing out wide against Brentford. He
01:50 was brilliant in a central role against Aston Villa and Dyches responded to the
01:54 question by saying...
01:55 Hi Sean, just a few people were asking about James Garner playing out wide when he played so well...
02:00 Which people? Which few? Which few people? Oh, okay.
02:03 A lot of people were very impressed with him against Villa and wanted to see more in the central areas. With Jack Harrison back is that more likely to happen now?
02:10 I think it gives us more options for Jimmy. I think he's applied himself to anything we've asked of him which is terrific for him as still a young player in the centre of the Premier League.
02:19 Playing wide, playing wing-back and certainly in one of our main hours of need at the end of the last season doing a very good job. I thought he played very well down at Brentford in a wider position.
02:28 I think he can perform from there because of his delivery and the power he's got and the workload he does and I thought Villa is very good as well.
02:36 I like the fact he's adaptable. I do see him longer term as being a central midfield player and I think he sees himself as being that but I think he's flexible and adaptable.
02:45 I think that is a very good thing and a very good open-minded thing to have as a young player. Thanks.
02:50 It's likely that Garner will keep his position in the team having been one of the starting performers so far this season.
02:55 Despite the fact that Jack Harrison is now fit and integrated into the squad and he's ready to start on that right wing if needed.
03:01 But Garner can definitely shift inside to central midfield or can continue out wide but it's a guarantee that he will start this weekend.
03:06 In terms of the game this weekend, Bournemouth have been struggling overall and they're just coming off a 4-0 home loss to Arsenal at the weekend.
03:13 Everton of course survived on the final day of last season by earning a 1-0 win over the Cherries at Goodison Park which confirmed their Premier League status thanks to a goal from Abdoulaye Dekhoore.
03:22 Everton will know that they will need another result like that in what has become a must-win game after last week's loss against Luton.
