00:00 And get ready to witness a musical within a musical! A Silver Lining hits the stage this
00:05 October and this piece will take you through a story of rediscovery in two timelines and of
00:11 course this is all to get you excited about the music and the whole Silver Lining experience of
00:18 it all. We do have its executive producer Jack Teotico and its cast members Ricky Davao and
00:24 Albert Sigos. Good morning to you gentlemen! I mean incredible times. Jack let me start with you,
00:31 the story of the Silver Lining. How did this all come about? You were telling me a little bit about
00:37 it before we went on cam and a little bit about your story. Yeah actually we started, we formed a
00:44 band about four years before our homecoming. We were gonna have our golden anniversary homecoming.
00:51 We formed a band and we tried to rehearse and then we pitched the idea to the school of alumni
01:00 and authorities and we said hey why don't we change the format because most of the most of
01:05 the homecoming would be just you know shows and people dancing on stage. So I said let's have a
01:10 woodstock kind of homecoming and then they approved it. So we were rehearsing for like three or four
01:15 years and then when we went back. Three or four years really? After that Christine when we went
01:23 back to them and we said okay hey we're ready we're ready to perform and we've got three sets
01:28 how many songs are you gonna give us and they said oh you know all the other sponsoring batches
01:33 they also have bands so we're gonna give you four songs. I said what? For three years? So that is
01:42 where you know you got the inspiration and the concept. Yeah and then so we decided let's just
01:47 you know continue performing and you know we formed a band called Rock It Well and we've been
01:52 performing ever since and then that was when the music started coming out you know. I started
01:57 remembering all the things in high school and in university. Things like when we were in high school
02:04 there was this thing called bakuran. Okay. You know when all the guys would be on one side of the stage
02:09 I mean of the room and all the girls on the other side and slowly they would move closer and closer
02:15 to may I have this dance and so we composed a song about that. Nice I'm sure you know that so well
02:20 Ricky I mean you were in that time. Yeah that was my time. But how did you get to be a part of this?
02:26 They offered. They went to you? They sought you out? Yeah. I was surprised because I'm not really a
02:35 professional singer. Yes. But I do musicals. I'm an actor who loves to sing. Yes. That's it.
02:42 I'm a bit of a late bloomer in music but I love performing and I love singing so
02:49 I'm here. Yes and theater. Theater you've been doing theater for such a long time. I do theater yeah.
02:55 From Larawan and way back to Duen you know. Is it something that you enjoy doing now?
03:02 Well I've been very busy with TV work is so hectic. Plus directing. Film and directing yeah.
03:09 But doing theater is like you know like a car that has a tune-up or food for the soul you know.
03:17 The immediate response of the audience and the discipline is different. Yeah. So. It's live you
03:26 know. It's really different. Live entertainment. Being able to perform. And of course Albert here you are not new to theater
03:33 having done it like what five years old or four or five singing on stage. I started doing professional
03:40 theater when I was seven. Wow. That's a long time and now you play the younger version of Sir Ricky
03:47 here. How does it feel? Tell me about your role. It's honestly such an honor to play Sir Ricky.
03:55 The younger Sir Ricky. It's so I just want to say it's so it's been so fun working with him.
04:00 And I we always have conversations about the differences in our generation and his. And it's
04:07 always been such an insightful conversation both for myself and for my character. What are the differences?
04:15 A lot. A lot. But we also realized that there are a lot of differences but a lot of things
04:26 have stayed the same. And as for my character preparing for younger Leo is so much more
04:34 different than the other roles that I've done because he's in the 70s and that honestly wasn't
04:43 an era I was very familiar with before Silver before Silver Lining. So I had to research a lot
04:50 of slangs that were in at that time and things that are not yet in at that time. And Leo is just
04:58 so fun to play. He's this very eager character, this very eager person. And I think it's going to be so
05:10 exciting seeing him on stage and performing. I saw bits and clips of it and you performing.
05:18 I mean it must have been fun you know to get up there and just you know get your guitar going.
05:23 Thank you Sigi. For you Jack, I mean you since you started this all what is the one thing that
05:31 you would like us audience when we come out and watch Silver Linings to take home?
05:35 Well actually... Aside from the wonderful music and the performance? Thank you, thank you. Well you know the two
05:41 things. I sort of wanted to bring people back to that exciting time of the 70s and what we went
05:47 through. And then also to give a message that you know we all pass through trials you know and
05:54 tribulations but we should never lose hope right? And we should always think that
05:59 there is a Silver Lining in everything. So Ricky is this something that you want to continue doing
06:05 more of? Oh yes. Theater talaga? Theater yes. Iba yung feeling. It's when you're
06:14 you know when you're rehearsing like I'm working with this guy. I've done so much but
06:20 you know working with the young actors. Grabe yung energy na nakukuha ko sa kanila and ah pwede pala yun.
06:27 Ay! You know. Learning experience then. Parang wow pwede palang ganon. I didn't know that.
06:35 Watching them and like with Albert here we're doing some songs together and I'm learning so much
06:41 na sometimes at this stage in my career I feel my... pwede pa ba ako with them?
06:49 Pero syempre naman iba yung theater and a musical. Yes. Diba? Yes, yes, yes.
06:56 Yeah like here this is my first. I've done a few musicals. Yes. We sang through etc.
07:02 but this one kasi contemporary and very new ang music sa akin so medyo there was a time I'm
07:10 tamad na to learn. I love to sing no so when you ask me to sing I'll sing 30 songs but all
07:15 standards. Yes. But this time new songs and beautifully written songs na ang
07:22 bilis kong ma-memorize kasi nakaka-LSS. No really. Ato garoon yung tama so well it's exciting for me.
07:32 So you talk a lot about the music. What are the songs that you enjoy most here in Silver
07:39 Lining, Albert? Sir Jack mentioned this a while ago. One of my favorite songs in this musical is
07:45 Bakuran. Okay. There's a song about that and it's just this really really fun song about you know
07:52 Leo and the other characters just finding a girl trying to find a girl to you know dance with for
08:04 the night and it it's a really fun it's a really fun song to perform. It's a production number.
08:12 We're all dancing. I heard you guys are dancing as well. Okay so definitely it's going to be a wonderful
08:18 time. We definitely have to make all the effort to come out and watch you do invite
08:22 our friends and viewers to come out. Two weekends lang to. Yeah two weekends. It's going to be such a short run.
08:28 Guys please watch Silver Lining. Please support us. It's a new play. Bago po ang music dito.
08:40 I promise magugustuhanin nyo ang music dito. Our story is something different. Well different
08:48 not really unique but different and marami ho kayo makukuha dito. You know sometimes
08:54 sa storya rin which I'm encountering in my in my family life. Yung differences between boomers
09:02 and my kids, mga millennials. May mga natatakel na mga ganyan dito. It's very interesting.
09:09 So guys please we're showing on October 20, 21, 22 that weekend and then 27, 28 and 29 at the
09:19 RCBC Theater, Yuchenco building in Makati. Tickets are available through tickettome.net.
