00:00 It's Christmas morning for commuters in the middle of the high speed of the jeepney. The free ride program is about to return. If ever, you will know it on the story of Bernadette Reyes.
00:12 Now that the additional pesos of the provisional fare has been fulfilled in the jeepney, Lesh Magat's expenses are getting heavier as he commutes everyday.
00:23 You can't afford your salary because you have a baby, you have a child, and you're still commuting.
00:31 The good news is that the government's free ride program will return starting November.
00:37 Tshofilo Gwadis III announced this a few hours before his suspension as chairman of LTFRB.
00:44 The 1.3 billion PUD and the joint memorandum circular will be reduced. We've been pursuing this since November and December. It's like the early Christmas of LTFRB.
00:59 According to LTFRB, aside from the buses, there will also be free rides for the jeepneys here in Metro Manila.
01:07 The agencies are working with the Department of Transportation to add funds so that there will be free rides in the provinces.
01:16 Number one, of course, our buses in the carousel. Number two, those who organized as a cooperative, they have a priority here. Those who organized themselves as a cooperative, they have a priority here.
01:41 The free rides will last until December. It can be extended until the first week of January if the DOTR can provide additional funds.
01:48 Drivers are just asking for a guarantee of the government's payment for their services.
01:54 After one month, sometimes it's not necessary to give because they say there's no payment. It's a bit difficult.
02:04 What do you want?
02:07 We want a weekly payment so that we can live a normal life. So that the family won't have a hard time studying.
02:17 According to LTFRB, there were some that were not paid immediately because of the difference in the list of operators compared to the ones that were submitted to LTFRB. But the list is being cleaned up now.
02:29 Before the pandemic, there were some that were not paid yet. We are slowly cleaning up the list.
02:40 Because at first, the operator's list was different. The ones submitted to LTFRB were different. In my time, we will release something this week. Of the 48 million, at least, initially, we will release 2.3 million for those who provided free rides during the pandemic.
