Golden Bears have a bye this coming week, then play USC and Oregon
Transcript
00:00 Cal has a bye this coming weekend and then plays USC and Oregon in consecutive weeks,
00:07 which will be a significant challenge to say the least.
00:10 The USC game on the 28th is at home at Berkeley and then the Oregon game is on the road.
00:20 And both those games presumably will be the last time Cal will play either of those schools
00:24 for quite a while, maybe forever.
00:27 You would think they'd arrange to play a non-conference game against those schools at some point.
00:32 But USC and Oregon of course will be in the Big Ten and Cal will be in the ACC.
00:39 Two weeks from now will be the last time Cal will get to face Caleb Williams, the reigning
00:45 Heisman Trophy winner and a strong contender this year as well.
00:51 Hard to say whether he will come out and enter the NFL draft this coming spring.
00:57 It seems likely he would be the number one pick, at least at this point it looks like
01:01 he would be the number one pick.
01:03 But he makes so much money in the NIL at USC, there's no reason for him to immediately leave.
01:10 He has the legitimate choice of staying in college if he wants to.
01:15 And if the number one pick goes to a team that he doesn't feel comfortable with, he
01:19 can just stay at USC and make presumably seven figures.
01:24 You see him in advertisements all the time, TV advertisements all the time now.
01:29 So it's different now in terms of an ability of a college player to stay in school if he
01:35 wants to.
01:37 So anyway, Cal plays USC in two weeks.
01:41 USC played Notre Dame in South Bend today, Saturday, and then has two weeks before it
01:50 prepares to play Cal on the 28th.
