00:00 John, can you believe it? Dan Campbell was elated with Jameson Williams season debut in week five against the Carolina Panthers.
00:06 Didn't do a ton really offensively, but set a nice block, did a little bit of good stuff.
00:10 Campbell was excited once again. John, what do you make of JMO's debut?
00:15 Yeah, similar to other players that are returning, Dan Campbell really didn't have
00:18 extremely high expectations in terms of productivity. All they wanted for Jameson Williams was to go out
00:24 and execute some routes, have some plays go his way, and to really showcase what he can do blocking.
00:30 So in the end, the unfortunate situation for Jameson is that his first opportunity to catch
00:36 the football could have been a big gain, but unfortunately dropped the football. And there
00:40 was an oncoming linebacker that maybe could have delivered a big hit. So it led many people to
00:45 wonder in regards to his motivation to catch that football. But overall, just a couple of receptions
00:51 for two yards and a screenplay that he had didn't do too much. And overall, ending his day
00:58 really performing well, blocking, showing some effort, and unfortunately though, didn't light up
01:02 the stat sheet. But for Dan Campbell early on, that is why he set the expectations low. This is a
01:08 rookie player that has only played a handful of games and a player that has not a lot of
01:14 experience. Now in his second year, really in the essence, Vito, he is like a rookie in the fact that
01:20 he's played less than 10 games in his overall career. But I do think people are starting to
01:26 kind of get concerned about the drops. But for right now, Dan Campbell and the coaching staff
01:31 is really focusing in on fundamentals, making sure that he's responsible blocking, and make sure that
01:38 the rapport with Jared Goff steadily develops. While many of us will clamor for more,
01:42 for his first appearance where he earned a little bit over 25 snaps, I think it went okay. Could
01:50 he do a lot more? Yes. Should the expectations be higher? I believe so. But now there's an
01:56 opportunity over the next couple weeks to see the steady growth of a first round pick. And if you
02:02 don't see that, then there's going to be increasing discussion regarding Jamison's role. Because
02:07 the more targets you give him, the less targets you give really productive players like Sam Leporta,
02:12 Josh Reynolds, and Kully Freeman. So it'll be interesting to watch as Jamison Williams progresses.
02:18 It's an okay start, but I think that he can do a lot more to help this offense. And John, we need
02:23 to see more out of JMO moving forward too. And I think we will as the season does progress. John,
02:28 thanks for all the time.
