00:00 Gentlemen, we're scheduled to box eight rounds.
00:01 I've gone over the rules in the dressing room.
00:03 I expect you to obey my commands at all times.
00:05 Most of all, protect yourself at all times.
00:07 Touch gloves, good luck.
00:08 - In the absence during this camp
00:13 of Ryan "Bo Mac" McIntyre,
00:15 as he was detained in Great Britain,
00:17 Kelvin Davis, well he had Isau Diegas,
00:20 Rez Spikes working with him in camp,
00:24 and Rendell Johnson, his assistant coach
00:27 who started muffin boxing back in Norfolk, Virginia.
00:30 So all hands on deck for B&B boxing.
00:34 But now Bo Mac is here.
00:36 He's ringside to be here with Kelvin Davis
00:39 as he takes on Narciso Carmona,
00:40 who told me, "Look, I started boxing
00:42 "when I was about, what'd he say, 19 years old?"
00:47 'Cause he was getting into trouble
00:49 on the mean streets of Seville, Spain.
00:51 So he said, "Boxing really saved my life."
00:55 - Yeah, it's a really great way
00:56 to put your energy, all that energy he has,
01:00 into something positive,
01:01 and still with someone violent.
01:03 (laughs)
01:05 You know, Carmona is coming off a loss.
01:10 And he doesn't wanna afford another loss tonight.
01:13 I mean, he's matched up again against Davis.
01:17 But I'll just tell you this, look at the backhand,
01:19 just look for the backhand to land for Davis
01:22 over the top of that jab.
01:23 - Carmona was telling me,
01:26 you know, "I'm used to being the bigger guy
01:27 "at 150 pounds at six feet.
01:29 "This is the first time that I fight a bigger guy
01:32 "at six foot one in Kelvin Davis,
01:34 "so it's gonna be an adjustment."
01:36 And it's the Battle of Southpaw,
01:37 so it's like looking in the mirror.
01:39 - Yes, and this is called an open stance battle.
01:43 And what that mean is,
01:44 is that the jab hand has a free lane to travel.
01:48 See, splitting the guard,
01:49 and the backhand has to come around that jab.
01:52 That's why they call it the cross.
01:53 Comes over the top of that jab.
01:55 Like it did there, but landed on the glove
01:57 of Narciso Carmona.
01:59 Short right hook there from Davis.
02:01 It was lightning quick.
02:02 - See, Davis already is asserting himself,
02:07 but he's being patient.
02:08 That's the one thing you get about the D3 brothers.
02:10 They get patient in the ring.
02:12 Very technical, take their time, pick their shots.
02:18 And when they do decide to land, it's deadly.
02:23 - And what Kelvin did tell us,
02:25 was the fact that he watched the videos
02:27 of his last few fights,
02:28 and he says, "I gotta work on being more consistent.
02:30 "I can't just throw a combination,
02:32 "and then just let there be lulls in the action."
02:35 This is obviously the first round.
02:37 You wanna feel out your opponent a little bit,
02:38 but I think he's gonna start picking it up
02:40 in the second round,
02:41 and be more consistent with his punches.
02:43 - Yeah, it's all about layering your attack.
02:46 You learn that as you go.
02:47 You know, every time you throw a punch in there,
02:50 you feel exposed.
02:53 You know, once you start learning
02:54 how to shorten up your shots,
02:55 and throw the punches from the right range,
02:56 to where you're not in harm's way,
02:58 then you can start layering your attacks.
03:00 See, he lands a left hand right there,
03:02 but there was no follow-up afterwards.
03:03 There was no jab.
03:04 You gotta learn how to follow up your attack.
03:09 See, when you flick the jab out,
03:17 like Davis is doing,
03:19 you wanna see the response,
03:21 and see what your opponent is doing,
03:23 and how he's reacting.
03:24 Now, depending on what he's doing,
03:26 that's what you do next.
03:27 You set it up next time.
03:29 - The calls from the boxing world to free Bomac
03:38 were answered, and here is Brian "Bomac" McIntyre
03:42 yelling instructions to Kelvin Davis,
03:45 but he's also letting his other coaches,
03:47 Brett Spikes and Isau Diegas, take the lead.
03:50 They put in the work during this camp,
03:52 and Tim, it's teamwork over there.
03:54 - Yes, it is teamwork over there.
03:55 I mean, you know, Bomac was gone.
03:58 Everybody think it's all Bomac, but it's not.
04:00 It's a team effort.
04:01 It's three full coaches over there,
04:03 that are coaching all of these champions,
04:05 all of these fighters, getting them ready for their fights.
04:07 So, you know, it doesn't matter.
04:09 It's great to see that if one is gone,
04:13 you still got somebody else that you can depend on.
04:15 - Absolutely.
04:16 Terrence Cropper believes in his team,
04:18 and so does Kelvin Davis.
04:20 This is Duke Reagan, the silver medalist
04:22 at the 2020 Olympic Games with Kay Karoma,
04:25 hitting the pads because he will be next.
04:28 It's been a year since we last saw
04:31 this young man in the ring.
04:32 He's got a new fire, a renewed energy,
04:35 and more important than anything,
04:37 he feels 100% healthy with that left elbow,
04:40 allowing him to throw his punches,
04:42 and we'll get to see Duke Reagan
04:44 return on top-ranked boxing on ESPN+.
04:48 For now, it's Kelvin Davis
04:49 wearing the pink trunks, trimmed in white,
04:52 in honor of his grandmother,
04:54 who passed away from breast cancer,
04:58 and he's taking on Narciso Carmona
05:01 in the blank trunks with white and red trim.
05:04 - See, Carmona, every time he dips,
05:09 every time he dips, he comes up, he shoots his jab.
05:13 The left hand is there.
05:15 It's there for Davis.
05:17 He doesn't see it yet, but it's there for him.
05:19 And Carmona's doing the right thing,
05:30 although he's fighting a taller opponent,
05:33 he's doing the right thing and trying to get inside,
05:34 although he is tall himself.
05:36 You know, as you said early on,
05:37 that you're not used to fighting taller opponents,
05:40 so you're not used to punching up.
05:42 You're used to punching down at most of your opponents.
05:46 So, minor adjustment by both men,
05:48 and I understand they probably had some sparring partners
05:50 inside the gym that were a lot taller than them.
05:52 At least you would think that they would get one
05:55 to be able to make those type of adjustments,
05:56 but still, a little bit is odd.
06:00 It doesn't feel correct, punching up.
06:02 - Yeah, long left there from Narciso Carmona
06:06 and referee David Fields
06:07 is having trouble making them engage.
06:09 They're trying to figure out how to get inside
06:15 because the length is bothering each other.
06:18 Carmona tried to snipe with a right uppercut,
06:20 but Davis was able to land a left prior to that.
06:23 - Man, you know, every time I see these fighters
06:28 looking up at the Megatron,
06:29 I don't understand if they just like seeing themselves
06:31 or are they looking at the time?
06:34 I mean, jeez.
06:36 Every clinch you see Carmona looking up at the screen.
06:40 Like, "Mama, I'm on TV."
06:43 - Like Jumbotron.
06:45 - Jumbotron, Megatron, Jumbotron.
06:48 - Megatron is from Transformers.
06:49 - Yeah, you're right.
06:50 You know what I mean.
06:53 You get it.
06:54 Wait till you see this left hand.
07:01 I'm telling you, I'm just, I see it.
07:03 The left hand's gonna come over the top.
07:06 Nice attempt right there from Carmona,
07:09 looking for the left hand,
07:09 but it is suit Carmona a lot better
07:13 if he's a shortness shots on the inside
07:15 and go down to the body of Davis.
07:17 Did you see he has the upper body moves.
07:25 Davis is pretty stiff up top.
07:28 The upper body movement is coming from Carmona.
07:31 - That's right.
07:32 - But he's not attacking the body.
07:34 - Carmona complaining about Davis coming in with the head,
07:39 leading with the head.
07:48 (upbeat music)
07:50 - Hey, there's Guido Vianello.
08:11 He will be following Duke Reagan right here
08:14 in top rank boxing on ESPN.
08:18 As we lead up to our main card
08:20 on ESPN World Championship fights.
08:23 But Guido Vianello last time out was in control.
08:26 Had the fight won on the cards ahead,
08:29 but in the seventh round, like Johnny Rice,
08:32 a man who we had handled all, not only all fight,
08:35 but also in sparring, it was caused by a punch,
08:39 lost by technical knockout.
08:40 And he said, look, I learned that I cannot just assume
08:44 that things are under control because this is boxing
08:47 and things can change in an instant.
08:49 (laughing)
08:52 - Just learning that?
08:53 (laughing)
08:56 Come on, man.
08:57 You never gonna relax inside that ring.
08:59 Only time you can relax is either when you exit in the ring
09:02 or you're sitting on the stool.
09:04 The only time you relax.
09:05 - Nice body work from Carmona here in round three.
09:15 (thudding)
09:18 - That's good touching right there.
09:19 That's great timing.
09:20 And how he's doing that.
09:23 And he's not looking at his feet.
09:24 Every time Carmona steps forward,
09:26 he's heavy on his front foot.
09:28 Boom, a jab comes.
09:29 From Davis.
09:31 Every time he plants his left foot
09:33 or his right foot, I should say.
09:35 - There you go.
09:36 The counters are coming in.
09:37 - Exactly.
09:38 - Now we see the pressure from Davis.
09:43 - Back up, back up.
09:45 - And it was all about just changing the cadence
09:46 and getting a little bit more.
09:49 Look at that.
09:49 Just touching him, touching him, touching him.
09:52 Just consistent with his work.
09:53 - Keyshawn Davis, the undefeated Olympic silver medalist
10:01 who's also 9-0 with six knockouts,
10:05 just like his older brother Kelvin, who's in the ring.
10:08 He approves of what he's seeing so far.
10:13 - He says, "This is like a pregame for me.
10:15 "I enjoyed watching my brother."
10:16 And you can see the reaction from Keyshawn Davis
10:19 on the shot that was landed by his older brother, Kelvin.
10:22 - And I like the physicality inside of Davis.
10:28 Although he is the taller opponent,
10:30 he's still just trying to throw small little short shots
10:34 to the body of Carmona.
10:37 And what he's doing is he's walking him back too.
10:40 So he's forcing him to use his legs.
10:42 (crowd murmuring)
10:45 - Nice defense from Davis.
10:49 - See, Carmona's having a hard time
10:50 even getting in the inside.
10:52 He has the shorter arms.
10:54 Usually he's the taller fighter.
10:55 - What a nice stick from Kelvin.
10:58 - Usually he's the taller fighter.
10:59 He's fighting hard to get in the inside.
11:01 So he's having to stay outside or mid-range.
11:05 And every time he steps mid-range,
11:07 that's where Kelvin sticks him with something.
11:10 Either a jab or straight left hand.
11:12 - Now you can walk him down.
11:13 - Carmona was stopped in the sixth round
11:15 in the last time out in Atlanta against Kurt Scobie.
11:19 It was August 18th.
11:20 There'll be a little gun shot here against Kelvin Davis.
11:25 - There's some blood right there coming down.
11:27 Doesn't look like it's impeding the vision of Carmona.
11:32 - Ooh, that right hook is impeding his balance here
11:35 as round three is coming to a close.
11:37 (laughing)
11:40 He cocked it.
11:42 He got a little bit beside himself right there.
11:45 He cocked himself like,
11:47 "Ooh, I wanna get you one more time.
11:49 "Come here."
11:50 Oh my goodness.
11:53 - Take a look at that shot that Kelvin Davis
12:02 landed on Carmona, sending him reeling back.
12:04 See the blood first.
12:05 - On the outside.
12:07 Nice uppercut right underneath the jab.
12:10 That's beautiful work.
12:11 See, he was already on his front foot right there.
12:13 He extended, used it as a range finder,
12:16 knew the jab was gonna come
12:17 and then came right underneath with that uppercut.
12:21 - Keyshawn and Steven Nelson,
12:23 - That was sweet. - They both liked it.
12:25 - No, that was sweet.
12:25 That was sweet right there. - They approved this message.
12:27 - No, you don't see that often.
12:29 You don't see the uppercut underneath the jab often.
12:30 I remember Linares used to do that excellent
12:33 against his opponents.
12:34 Come underneath their jab with uppercuts like that.
12:37 - A cut right between the eyes, it would seem,
12:40 on the face of Narciso Carmona.
12:43 There's never a good place for a cut,
12:45 but there's better places for a cut to be in.
12:48 This is not a bad place.
12:49 - No, not at all.
12:50 Again, it's not impeding his vision.
12:53 It's not getting in his eye.
12:54 Doesn't look like it's bothering him at all.
12:56 And it looks like the corner, the cut man,
12:57 did a good job in stopping the bleeding.
12:59 - He's got Brianna Tellez working corners for him.
13:03 (crowd chattering)
13:06 - It's good to see how Davis has been building
13:13 on what he's doing round after round.
13:15 - Yes, it is.
13:17 It's good to see.
13:18 And you see him gaining more and more confidence
13:20 as the rounds go on.
13:22 And he's trying to get a little bit more creative
13:24 with his offense also.
13:25 - Now we have Wanda Davis sitting there
13:29 with her son, Kijan, watching.
13:32 Her oldest, or eldest, Kelvin Davis do his thing.
13:35 And I saw her perform the fight
13:36 as we now see a double uppercut from Kelvin Davis.
13:39 And she says, "I don't get nervous
13:41 because I know what my sons are capable of in the ring."
13:44 And that's what we're seeing from Kelvin here.
13:46 - Just want you to watch the distance
13:49 at which Davis shoots his punches from.
13:53 He's not smothering his work.
13:54 He's not getting too close and allowing
13:56 Carmona to hold him.
14:00 - And he let him tie him up right there.
14:02 But for the most part, he had his hand,
14:04 his man going backwards.
14:05 He followed him back, but he kept his distance.
14:09 That's strong maturity right there.
14:10 - Kijan is all smiles, but mom manager Wanda
14:18 is all business when it comes to her son.
14:21 There's a left to the back of the neck
14:25 from Narciso Carmona.
14:29 - In a place where the referee couldn't see it.
14:31 And again, he does it.
14:32 - See that move right there where you dip under
14:35 and you bring your shoulder in, that's called the bump in.
14:37 You come in, you dip your shoulder,
14:39 and you want to tie up.
14:40 You come, you lean to one side, to the outside shoulder,
14:44 and you come in and pull your shoulder up
14:45 and you give him a little bump on the way in.
14:48 - Nice uppercut from Narciso Carmona.
14:57 - Well, he didn't shoulder up right there.
14:59 You know, when you get in the inside,
15:00 a safe position is on the shoulder, off to the shoulder.
15:04 You can line up, you lead shoulder,
15:06 or lead shoulder, and you're in a safe position.
15:08 But if you keep your head in the middle,
15:10 you're setting yourself up to be hit with shots like that,
15:14 those short uppercuts that Carmona
15:15 was able to land on the inside.
15:17 - Ooh, both exchanged short shots on the inside.
15:20 - Ooh, that's a nasty body shot right there
15:22 on the inside by Carmona.
15:24 It's a short sneaking shot.
15:28 This is where Carmona wants to fight,
15:30 because he was having trouble getting inside of Davis,
15:33 but right now Kelvin Davis is allowing him
15:35 to get on the inside and tie up.
15:37 - Great analysis, you're right.
15:38 This is exactly where he needs to work,
15:40 right here in those short shots.
15:42 Him having the shorter arms is starting to work,
15:44 and he's starting to put together
15:46 some combinations on Davis.
15:57 - So Kelvin Davis, 74-inch reach,
16:00 and he's using that to his advantage behind a jab, too.
16:04 - Yeah, the jab's gonna set up your offense,
16:07 as I always tell you folks at home.
16:08 But beautiful, but when you do the jab
16:10 and you throw the jab at the right range, it's sweet.
16:14 You know, 'cause you don't see any firepower
16:16 coming back from Carmona, and that's what you wanna do.
16:19 You wanna be able to show you throw your jab out at range,
16:21 and we know that he's tall.
16:23 It's one thing to be tall and also know
16:25 how to use your range.
16:26 Although you're tall, it doesn't mean
16:28 that you know how to use your range.
16:29 Right there, that's what you saw.
16:31 Good range control by Davis to be able to set up
16:33 that beautiful uppercut from that jab.
16:35 - All right, use that half step back.
16:41 When you see him coming in, you know,
16:43 use that half step back.
16:45 - See, sometimes you wonder why a shorter man
16:47 can now jab a bigger or taller fighter.
16:51 It's because his feet are better.
16:53 He has better feet.
16:54 He gets in position a lot quicker
16:56 than the taller guy or the taller man.
16:58 He has distance control.
16:59 He understands where he can step in and get his jab off,
17:02 and he can get out of range after.
17:04 See the little post right there.
17:12 When you see the hand sticking out right there from Davis,
17:14 he's trying to post and trying to frame those body shots.
17:17 - That was posting with the right,
17:20 and then stabbing the body with the left.
17:23 Now he goes overhead with the left.
17:25 And there's Carmona looking at himself on the big screen.
17:28 - He likes to look at him.
17:29 You know, I'm not gonna lie.
17:30 Fighters, we like to look at ourselves.
17:31 I'm not gonna lie to you.
17:32 Still today, if there's a mirror around, I'm looking in it.
17:36 I'm serious, man.
17:37 You go into a boxing gym, if there's mirrors around,
17:40 fighters are always in the mirror looking at themselves.
17:43 - Hey, did you buy one of those that makes you look thinner?
17:45 [laughing]
17:46 - Tell me the truth.
17:48 - No.
17:48 - Come on now.
17:49 - No, absolutely not.
17:50 - No.
17:51 - Makes your head look smaller?
17:52 - No.
17:53 - No.
17:53 [laughing]
17:54 - Come on, man.
17:55 - I look short, and I'm not gonna lie.
17:57 And in my mirrors, I'm like,
17:58 damn, am I really that short?
17:59 - We are, Tim.
18:00 - Ah.
18:01 - Carmona doing a better job of closing the gap
18:10 and not allowing Davis to be on the end of,
18:13 keeping him on the edge of those punches.
18:15 - Well, Davis right now is not--
18:16 - There it is, finally.
18:17 - Is not keeping his distance outside
18:19 by using his jab or range.
18:20 Gotta be able to keep your distance
18:23 if you wanna fight on the outside.
18:25 You just take a half a step back.
18:26 But Davis seems like he wants to rumble.
18:28 That's what he wants.
18:29 He's looking to catch him.
18:30 So he's staying close enough
18:32 to be able to make Carmona pay for a counter.
18:35 - Let him go, let him go, let him go.
18:39 - Good, see that small little body shot on the inside
18:43 with the left hand from Davis.
18:44 I mean, excuse me, from Carmona.
18:46 It's a sneaky punch.
18:47 - Let him go, let him go, come on, let him go.
18:50 - See if he does it again.
18:51 See, he pulled that arm out,
18:52 then he did it again,
18:53 and then you see right there that Davis was aware of it.
18:56 He slid out the back door.
18:58 Beautiful uppercut.
18:59 - Come on, step, let him go, let him go, let him go.
19:02 (crowd chattering)
19:05 Come on, man.
19:13 Come on, let him go, let him go.
19:18 - Davis right now giving up his height,
19:20 willing, wanting to fight the inside.
19:23 - Come on, you're holding, you're holding, let him go.
19:24 - He's leaning forward instead of dropping his level.
19:26 He's just pulling his butt back a bit.
19:29 You drop your butt,
19:30 you don't necessarily have to use your legs.
19:32 Just stick your butt out,
19:34 you'll be able to change levels and dig down to the body.
19:37 - Carmona looking to keep setting up those shots,
19:46 and Davis allowing him to plow inside here
19:51 in the last couple of rounds.
19:53 - Good defense from Kelvin Davis, stab, jab.
19:57 (bell rings)
20:01 Duke Reagan will be up next.
20:05 He went back to his uncle, Tim Singleton.
20:09 Too still is what they call him,
20:11 his father's best friend before he passed away,
20:15 and an inspiration for him in this camp.
20:18 And he said, "This has given me that hunger
20:21 to get back in the ring,
20:22 and the fact that I'm gonna be 100%,
20:24 I know I'm gonna be better than I was last time out,"
20:27 which was against Luis Debron in October of 2022.
20:31 That was October 29th,
20:33 so we're talking about almost exactly a year.
20:36 And Tim, he won the unanimous decision,
20:39 but you weren't impressed with what you saw
20:41 from Duke at that time.
20:43 - No, it's just the defensive responsibility.
20:47 You know, I think he's a phenomenal fighter.
20:49 He has a ton of skills.
20:50 He showed a ton of heart in his fight.
20:53 He was able to bounce back when things got rough,
20:55 and he was able to close the show.
20:57 I can't wait to see him.
20:59 I actually missed him.
21:00 And the reason why he was in the fighter meetings,
21:02 believe it or not, is because I asked for him.
21:05 I wanted to see what he was doing.
21:07 - Came at you a little bit.
21:10 - Yeah, that is what it is.
21:13 Some fighters, a lot of fighters,
21:15 I'm just gonna say all fighters are sensitive.
21:17 And the reason why they're sensitive is because
21:20 of how hard we work.
21:21 You know, the dedication that it takes to be a fighter,
21:24 the risk that we take in the ring.
21:25 So it's really hard to take criticism from anybody,
21:28 especially someone that has actually did it.
21:31 - Even if it's constructive.
21:32 - Yeah, even if it's constructive, so.
21:35 - We'll get a chance to see Duke Reagan at 100%.
21:38 It's been a year, but he said,
21:40 "I spent that year in therapy.
21:41 "It's made me hungry.
21:42 "I got to camp and I was on weight, ready to go."
21:46 So we'll see the new and improved Duke Reagan up next
21:51 after Kelvin Davis and Narciso Claremona
21:54 complete their eight rounds in the ring.
21:57 - Well, the mindset right now,
22:01 I'm not sure if the corner is saying to Davis
22:06 to be in the pocket and work.
22:10 He was having more success.
22:13 - Do that again, it's gonna cost you a point, you hear me?
22:16 - All right, he's gone.
22:16 - You understand?
22:17 I got you, let me do it.
22:19 Let's go, man.
22:20 - He was having more success
22:21 controlling the fight on the outside.
22:23 And you see right now, you have Claremona
22:25 that's kind of getting or trying to attempt
22:28 to get Davis out of his plan.
22:31 - Get out of there, work your way.
22:34 - Ooh, that was a nice left hook there.
22:36 And now Kelvin Davis comes back with a left hook.
22:39 - Walk him up, walk him up.
22:40 - Let's go.
22:44 - Stop, stop, stop, come on, watch your arm.
22:46 - They woke him up.
22:48 - How many times did it wake him up, Tim?
22:52 - God, just once so far.
22:54 Just once.
22:57 Good left hand over the top by Claremona.
23:02 See, and the reason why Claremona's landing those shots
23:09 is that Davis is standing, he's standing his ground,
23:12 or at least he's attempting to.
23:14 - Right.
23:14 - He's not using his legs,
23:15 he's not using lateral movement,
23:17 not using his angles, using his skills.
23:18 And now he's starting to attempt to,
23:20 and he's making things easy for himself.
23:22 So, you know, tactically,
23:24 Davis got to get a little bit sharper.
23:26 You know, he's going to go back to the drawing board
23:27 with his team.
23:28 You know, he got to know when to use certain things.
23:31 - I mean, but he's back on the jab.
23:33 That's been the biggest difference here
23:34 in round number six.
23:35 - That was an adjustment that he saw.
23:38 But he could have been doing this from the start.
23:40 - Well, he did.
23:41 And then he got away from it when he led.
23:43 But the thing is, it's not getting away from him.
23:46 And he said he's been trying to work on his consistency.
23:48 And so if he works on his consistency, or has been,
23:51 he should be better, a little bit better.
23:53 - I want to see myself on that big screen,
23:58 see how I look.
23:59 (claps)
24:00 My big double chin.
24:01 - You do got a double chin, I'm not gonna lie.
24:05 - Ooh, nice uppercut from Kelvin.
24:07 - That uppercut's nasty.
24:08 Just crazy, Charlo.
24:11 (clapping)
24:13 - Good work, baby.
24:22 Good work.
24:23 - One round of this, we got two more rounds.
24:31 Stay sharp, stay strong, stay focused.
24:34 Finish this shit strong.
24:35 All right?
24:37 (upbeat music)
24:40 (whistle blows)
25:03 - Look at Bo.
25:06 - He's got the cornrows in his head.
25:09 Got the nappy top on, I see him.
25:12 - In the ring it was Kishan Diegas,
25:17 with the instructions, as well as Rendell Johnson,
25:20 who was Kelvin and Kishan's childhood coach
25:24 back in Norfolk, Virginia, who also worked for them
25:28 in the preparation for this fight,
25:29 during Bo Mack's absence.
25:31 - He's such a good dude, man.
25:32 Bo Mack is such a good dude, I'm glad he's home.
25:36 - Absolutely.
25:36 - Ooh, short right hand from Kimona.
25:45 - See, but he's just letting him get in there.
25:46 He's just letting him cross that line.
25:48 Letting him get into him.
25:49 Not using his jab.
25:51 Kimona is doing a good job, and just coming right behind.
25:56 Just trying to stay busy.
25:58 Keeping that high guard up,
26:01 and now you see Davis finally getting on that jab.
26:03 - All right, let him go, let him go.
26:04 Come on, let him go.
26:05 - Good uppercut.
26:09 - Come on, let him go.
26:13 - And when we talk to these fighters
26:19 in those fighter meetings,
26:20 it's about getting the strategy.
26:22 It's about getting what they're working on for the fight,
26:24 and Davis is gonna go back and look at this fight
26:27 and understand that he did not do
26:30 all those things that he worked on.
26:32 - Well, right now, it just seems like
26:34 he's getting a little fatigued, I would say.
26:37 Doesn't look as sharp as he did in the first round.
26:39 I always tell my father, he always tells me all the time,
26:42 "Son, you wanna start, you wanna finish how you start.
26:46 You wanna pose strong.
26:48 You wanna be still sharp on the back end of the fight."
26:52 - Ooh, that stick.
26:53 - See, I like that.
26:54 Where's all that, you know,
26:57 Davis is, listen to me,
26:58 Davis is the type of fighter, he can get lazy in a room.
27:01 He can get lazy and get a little bit complacent,
27:03 but when he wants to turn it on
27:05 and look sharp and be sharp, he can.
27:07 'Cause that sequence right there just let me so.
27:10 - And he's hurt now, and Carmona's gonna hold on,
27:13 and Davis, can he finish?
27:15 He is in trouble here in round number seven.
27:19 - Look at Carmona game, look at Carmona.
27:22 He's game, he's trying to get in the head of Davis.
27:25 He's saying, "Come on, let's go.
27:27 I'm still here."
27:29 - And he's been real physical, ref housing tactics, yeah.
27:32 - Ooh, nice uppercut from Carmona with that left.
27:38 - Come on, let's go.
27:39 - This is not where Davis wants to be.
27:44 And this is exactly where Carmona wants to fight.
27:47 Nice body work from Davis.
27:49 - The question that I have is,
27:51 if you're there, what are you there for?
27:53 What are you there for?
27:56 - Let him go, let him go, don't touch him, don't touch him.
27:57 - There's that wrestling.
27:59 Ooh, nice, he jumped over that.
28:07 - Ooh, he hurt him with that shot.
28:08 - Carmona comes back with her right.
28:10 - He hurt him.
28:11 - That may win him the round,
28:16 'cause he had Davis in bad shape there,
28:19 and he's talking to him.
28:25 - I've seen Davis get dropped before in his pro debut.
28:29 (speaking in foreign language)
28:33 - Ladies and gentlemen, here inside the ring
28:37 and at the center, we go to the eighth and final round.
28:42 - He gonna try to come this round.
28:49 - All right, let's be smart.
28:50 - Touchdown to the center ring, keep it clean, bro.
28:52 - Let's be smart, all right?
28:53 - This is win the round.
28:55 - He only got a brawl with his mother.
28:57 - Look at that shot, Tim.
28:58 - Yeah, here's the last shot, dropping his hands,
29:00 being responsible with his defense.
29:01 Bow, got caught right on the chin.
29:03 Never saw it coming.
29:04 Good follow up right there from Carmona.
29:08 Carmona's dipping low, dipping low,
29:10 bringing those eyes down and came pop right up
29:13 with that right hook.
29:15 - See what happens when you don't look at yourself
29:17 on the big screen.
29:18 - Yeah, and you let your hands go,
29:20 and you catch a man when he's trying to disengage,
29:23 and when he does disengage,
29:24 he's not getting his hands back to his face.
29:27 He's not protecting himself, getting again relaxed.
29:30 - And that had been an excellent round for Kelvin Davis,
29:34 who comes out strong once again with that left cross.
29:37 - Kelvin, man, he mad.
29:38 That's the response, that's exactly what you want.
29:41 That type of response, some get back.
29:43 - Makes a miss, doesn't make him pay
29:47 because Carmona got leaned in
29:51 and just smothered Davis.
29:54 - Look, I know a lot of trainers,
29:58 they go out there and they say,
29:59 "Oh, you know what?
29:59 "It happened, take your time, go back,
30:01 "you know, just relax and take the match."
30:05 My trainer never said that to me.
30:06 - Joel, he never said anything.
30:10 Oh, right cross from Carmona,
30:13 right on the chin of Davis.
30:16 - That's a short right hook, actually.
30:17 He's doing damage here in the last two rounds.
30:20 - Well, he found a key right there, that backhand.
30:23 The backhand of Davis is low.
30:26 Davis right now trying to buy some time,
30:29 right now trying to clear his head.
30:30 Doesn't look all the way hurt.
30:32 His eyes are wide open right now.
30:34 He's good.
30:35 But it's still dangerous for him.
30:39 - Better get to work here because,
30:43 interesting enough, could have been stolen by Carmona
30:45 by that big shot that hurt him,
30:47 and then it's a good start for Carmona here in round eight.
30:50 Now he's cut on the outside part of the right eye.
30:53 So two cuts for Carmona.
30:55 - I always wanted to get back, finish my story.
31:00 So if somebody hit me with a hard shot,
31:02 I always try to get it back immediately.
31:05 You know, because confidence,
31:06 they gain confidence from that.
31:07 So I want to get that confidence right back.
31:09 - Come on, let him go, let him go.
31:10 - You score on me, I'm gonna score right back on you.
31:13 - All you gotta do is watch the Provodnikov fight.
31:18 - It's all psyched up, that's for real.
31:19 - Exactly, psychologically, that's what it's about.
31:21 But Davis right now, not out of the weeds just yet.
31:25 Carmona right now, yes, both guys are fatigued,
31:27 but Carmona's looking for that right hook again.
31:29 Trust me, he's looking for it.
31:31 Let's see if Davis makes a correction and hold that phone.
31:35 - Ooh, nice uppercut from Carmona.
31:38 - And why is Carmona landing?
31:45 Why is he landing?
31:47 Because Davis is not fighting at the right range.
31:50 - That's been the issue for the last few rounds.
31:55 And that's, you know, you gotta,
31:56 that's a credit to Carmona,
31:58 who has not allowed Davis to control with that jab anymore.
32:01 Now they're exchanging punches.
32:03 Carmona gets off and then Davis with a get back.
32:05 - But then you're gonna see the low right now from Davis.
32:09 - Come on, let him go, let him go.
32:12 Stop, come on, come on, come on.
32:14 - See the low?
32:15 Davis needs more sprint work, more sprint work.
32:19 You need to be able to recover a little bit faster.
32:22 - There we go. - Big shots.
32:23 (bell rings)
32:25 - Was it enough to get back 10th?
32:28 - That was a really good fight, man.
32:30 That was a really good,
32:30 Carmona came on a couple of rounds at the end,
32:32 but Davis controlled the action, controlled this fight.
32:35 - Well, let's take a look at some of that action, Tim.
32:38 It was all Davis early on,
32:40 but then the tide started to turn.
32:42 - Yeah, Davis all, I mean, early on, of course,
32:44 he's a bigger, taller opponent, more skillful,
32:47 you know, use this reach out at range.
32:48 I mean, he was laser, laser sharp.
32:50 Beautiful, beautiful uppercut set up right there.
32:53 Off the jab, you don't see that often, man.
32:55 Sneaky uppercuts, but when you're fighting a shorter man,
32:58 the uppercut is a great weapon for the taller fighter,
33:01 and as he knows, but then later in the fight
33:04 or the latter half of the fight, what do we see?
33:06 Davis chose to fight in the inside.
33:08 I'm not sure if he was looking to impose his will on Carmona.
33:13 I'm not sure if he got tired or he felt fatigued
33:16 and he wanted to take it to the inside.
33:18 Maybe his trainers told him to do that.
33:19 I'm not sure, but he gave Carmona opportunities
33:23 to land with those shorter arms on the inside
33:26 and to sneak him some clean shots on him that hurt him.
33:29 - I mean, it's going to be an interesting scorecard
33:32 because there was moments where Calvin Davis
33:35 looked really good when he was fighting from the outside,
33:38 then Carmona was able to get inside
33:40 and use his physicality to really change
33:44 the tide in this fight.
33:46 - Yeah, I mean, I honestly thought that
33:49 Davis controlled this action for the most part.
33:52 Carmona had a few good rounds towards the back end,
33:55 but I think the first half, no doubt about it,
33:59 for a little bit more than the first half,
34:00 I thought Davis clearly was winning the fight.
34:03 - All right, well, you know who has the answer
34:05 to who won this fight? - He gonna tell us.
34:06 - All right, let's go to Mark Shinnook.
34:08 (bell dings)
34:09 Ladies and gentlemen, after eight rounds
34:12 here inside the Fort Bend Epicenter,
34:15 we go to the judges' scorecards for the official decision.
34:18 Ellis Johnson scores the bout 80 to 72.
34:24 David Sutherland, 79-73.
34:28 Robert Hoyle, 77-75.
34:32 All in favor of your winner by unanimous decision,
34:37 Calvin "Night Knife" Davis!
34:41 (laughing)
34:42 - It might go a little bit more.
34:44 I like Robert Hoyle's scorecard, 77-75.
34:47 80-72, you gotta give Carmona some credit,
34:51 at least two rounds.
34:52 - Yeah, I mean, it depends on what angle
34:55 you're looking at the fight.
34:56 If the fight was fought in the center of the ring,
34:59 which side it was on more.
35:00 I mean, the judges see different things.
