00:23 and a historic double strike in Hollywood have left the show in a state of limbo.

00:35 It does not appear that leading man Kevin, who plays family patriarch John Dutton,

00:40 will be returning for the second half of the fifth season.

00:42 Costner, who was battling over child support with his ex-wife Christine Bongartner,

00:47 said in court documents connected to the case that he had concluded his work on the show last year,

00:53 His legal team added Costner is not involved in any future episodes.

00:57 It comes following months of reported behind-the-scenes drama

01:00 and negotiations between Kevin, showrunner Taylor Sheridan, and Paramount,

01:03 with the actor allegedly hoping to reduce his Yellowstone work schedule

01:07 to direct the first installment of his four-part Western film series Horizon.

01:12 It had been reported earlier this year by Entertainment Tonight

01:14 that season 5 would be Kevin's last with Yellowstone.

01:20 he revealed he decided to depart the show following a long, hard-fought negotiation

01:24 about turning season 5 into two parts,

01:27 He also claimed he had wanted to appear in the sixth season,

01:30 yet was unable to help them anymore.

01:33 They offered me less money than previous seasons.
