00:00 If you haven't already purchased your Thanksgiving flights, experts say now is the time to book them.
00:07 Do yourself a favor and don't wait too too much longer because if you do, the likelihood that the price is going to go up, it's a lot more likely.
00:16 If you're traveling domestically, try to book your flight at least 21 days in advance.
00:21 Many airlines have advanced purchase requirement rules that state you must buy your ticket before then to get the best fare.
00:28 Oftentimes it could jump by 50, 100, 200 dollars.
00:33 If you search for flights past that date, there are ways to avoid breaking the bank.
00:37 So if you can, try to consider searching two one-ways versus just a round trip because maybe it's cheaper to fly out on American but back on Delta.
00:47 If you are comfortable selecting nearby airports, you will be able to find airports which perhaps have less demand and may open up cheaper prices.
00:56 According to the TSA, the Tuesday and Wednesday prior to Thanksgiving and the Sunday after the holiday are typically the busiest days to travel.
01:05 Airfare is usually a lot more expensive.
01:07 You can sometimes unlock some crazy deals if you travel on dates when nobody else will be traveling.
01:12 So New Year's Eve, New Year's Day is a great example. Thanksgiving Day.
01:17 Even after you've made your bookings, continue monitoring prices. You never know what may open up.
01:23 Keep that price alert on. Definitely do so because if that flight that you've booked on drops, call your airline, have that ticket changed and just get a credit to use in the future.
01:33 Something that's worth considering is accommodation with cancellation policies.
01:37 So that if you can see a deal on a hotel which you might be able to unlock a cheaper price, that means the overall trip will come out cheaper.
