00:00Damian, there is mixed bag news here.
00:03Good news and bad news for the holiday forecast.
00:05That's right.
00:05For Saturday and Sunday, there will
00:06be some travel disruptions because of the showers,
00:08because of the thunderstorms.
00:09So if you're either going to be in the airways or the roadways,
00:12expect some delays, especially on Sunday.
00:15This time of year, we normally like to see less than 300 US
00:18flight cancellations.
00:19On Sundays, it does look like we'll
00:21be above that here for us because of those thunderstorm
00:24chances, primarily across the Northeast.
00:26So yes, flight delays are definitely possible,
00:28especially on Sunday.
00:29But look at all this rainfall we're
00:30expected to see as we head into the weekend.
00:32There's also going to be some widespread wet roads out there.
00:35So that's going to slow down any drive
00:36times you might have to get to your destination for Labor Day.
00:39This is a very big holiday as far as getting out
00:42and about on the road.
00:43So that's what we're going to be watching out for that.
00:45So over the weekend, this dip in the jet stream
00:47is going to bring some comfortably warm air
00:49across the Northern Plains and the Midwest.
00:51That ridge of high pressure is actually
00:52going to bring some very hot weather
00:54across the Pacific Northwest, but across the South,
00:57across the Southeast, and across the East Coast.
01:00We are going to see some widespread showers
01:02and thunderstorms there as we head
01:03throughout your Saturday and Sunday.
01:05But once again, I've been talking
01:06about this a little bit.
01:07There is a light at the end of the tunnel
01:09because as we head into Labor Day,
01:10we're going to see beautiful weather
01:12across the Northern Plains, the Great Lakes, the Northeast.
01:15But yes, there will still be some shower and thunderstorm
01:17chances across the South and the Southeast.
01:19So if you have any Labor Day plans,
01:21heads up for any rainfall or thunderstorms that
01:24might have to cause you to bring and take
01:27those outdoor plans inside here for Labor Day.
01:29But across the Northeast, your three-day Labor Day forecast,
01:33New York, Boston, for Saturday, Sunday,
01:35we'll see some moderate conditions,
01:37more rainfall on Sunday than Saturday.
01:39But once again, the light at the end of the tunnel,
01:41look at the conditions on Monday.
01:42Sunny skies, highs in the 70s,
01:44a beautiful way to start Labor Day, right?
01:47And then for the four days, the four cities, I should say,
01:50Philly, Boston, Detroit, Baltimore,
01:52really, really nice weather here
01:53for your Labor Day holiday.
01:55And then across the Northern Plains and the Great Lakes,
01:58Chicago, St. Louis, Kansas City, Cincinnati,
02:01great weather as well, mix of 70s and 80s.
02:03And then across the South Central,
02:05we will see 80s for Dallas, Oklahoma City,
02:08San Antonio, and Memphis.
02:09So overall, some great weather.
02:10So as far as the weekend goes, Saturday, Sunday,
02:13not the best, but at least we're gonna make up for it
02:15as we head into Monday.
02:16So let's go ahead and take you right now
02:17to Raleigh, North Carolina,
02:18where we've been dealing with gusty thunderstorms here
02:21on this Friday.
02:22And it's time for the big three,
02:23where we check out the other big weather stories
02:25we're tracking here as we head into the weekend.
02:27Yeah, Raleigh's been dealing
02:28with some flash flooding earlier today.
02:30The warning has been canceled now, or it expired,
02:33but there were reports of some damage tied to flooding
02:36back around 2 p.m. or so.
