00:00 Good morning Sheffield, this is Alistair from eSheffieldstar. I'm just coming to you with a little weather update.
00:04 It's so bad that I have to keep my phone in my jacket just so I can read the notes I've given you.
00:08 This is a weather update for Friday, October 20th. As you can see it's an incredibly wet and windy day here in the Steel City.
00:14 It's also amazing that this is Storm Babba, it has been lashing the UK today.
00:17 There's an amber weather warning for flooding and heavy rain pretty much in Sheffield and all of South Yorkshire today.
00:22 Indeed some parts of Scotland have received a red weather warning, reporting a really heavy flooding to come.
00:27 We've also got reports of pretty severe flooding in Woodhouse on roads, certainly a lot of roads out there have been disrupted.
00:34 We've also had a flood warning for River Don, Porterbrook and large parts of River Rother as well.
00:41 It's so cold out here.
00:43 So here's the forecast for Sheffield anyway at least.
00:45 The Met Office is saying that the rain is expected to last all day today, it's not going to stop at all.
00:50 It probably won't stop until around 9am tomorrow morning in fact, that'll be the Saturday.
00:54 They do say the worst of the rain should have passed by around the 2pm area.
00:58 The heaviest is going to fall this morning, also the winds as well.
01:03 The winds should let off by around 2pm as well.
01:06 This morning it's going to peak at around 33mph.
01:09 After the 2 o'clock mark it should fall off gradually to 20mph by this afternoon, maybe this evening I should say.
01:15 Things are looking cloudy tomorrow on Saturday.
01:17 As I say the rain should pass by around 9am.
01:20 That's when the rain is forecasted to stop at all.
01:23 It's going to be raining all day today, all night and well into tomorrow morning as well.
01:26 But it should be over with by 9am tomorrow and then it should remain dry for the rest of the day, indeed for the rest of the weekend.
01:32 So if we get through this one incredibly wet and windy Friday today, that should be the end of it for the most part.
01:37 As I say though, there are some weather warnings, there are some flood alerts now in place for much of the River Don, Forsterbrook and the River Rother in Sheffield.
01:45 So please do take precautions, please do be careful out there.
01:48 The Sheffield Council is releasing guidance on what to do in any areas where you get flooded.
01:53 Please stay safe today and hopefully this will be the end of it for the weekend.
