00:00 Trip Carter is from Lockheed Martin Space.
00:03 What's today about?
00:04 - Today is all about energizing kids to go into space.
00:10 And what I mean by that is not necessarily
00:14 leaving our planet, but working in the space industry,
00:17 working for perhaps the UK government in a space capacity
00:21 and understanding that you don't really have
00:25 to be a rocket scientist to do rocket science.
00:29 - And how important is it to catch the next generation?
00:33 - It's super important.
00:34 There are so many things that we are not only wanting to do,
00:37 we're committed to doing.
00:38 We're committed to going back to the moon.
00:40 We're committed to going to Mars.
00:42 And in order to achieve those things
00:45 and have sustainable presence on both of those bodies,
00:49 we need the best minds in science and engineering.
00:54 - Marcel, William and Zachary
00:55 are from St. Leonard's School in Durham.
00:58 Marcel, what were you hoping to get out of today?
01:01 - It was, I've been hoping to get a sense
01:04 of what sort of jobs there are in the space industry
01:06 and just get a taste of all the things
01:10 that we can do in space.
01:13 And it's really been interesting
01:15 and it's definitely provided me so far
01:19 with all that information that I need
01:22 to know what sort of jobs there are in the space industry.
01:27 - And William, what did you think of the day?
01:29 - Really, really interesting, yeah.
01:32 My eyes have been opened to a whole new sort of world
01:34 and a world of opportunities from guest speakers
01:37 who have come in and told us about
01:39 their own personal experiences and their careers.
01:42 It's been really, really interesting
01:44 and it's definitely pushed me towards
01:46 most definitely going into a aerospace engineering career
01:50 'cause it just looks really, really good.
01:52 - Brilliant, thank you.
01:53 And Zachary, what about you?
01:54 Changed your mind on things or?
01:55 - It's just cemented my sort of choices.
01:57 It's just gonna be such a thriving industry
02:00 and sort of you can hear that, you know,
02:01 there's so many options, it's accessible to everyone,
02:04 whoever you wanna be, whatever you wanna do,
02:05 there is a place for you in the space industry.
