00:05 This is the plight of 28-year-old B. Mookniswari and her five children who live in extreme poverty.

00:12 There are days that she and her children, aged 4 to 9, have to starve.

00:17 Working as a cleaner, Mookniswari earns a meagre 200 ringgit a month,

00:22 barely enough to buy basic necessities.

00:25 Her husband has been in and out of prison and is now serving time for theft,

00:30 leaving Mookniswari to raise their children on her own.

00:33 To make matters worse, the home in which they live in resembles more of a shanty.

00:51 The house is full of holes and has a leaky roof.
