00:02 enjoy some cocktails around the fire and
00:04 hop out of whiskey that was made to have
00:06 around the fire pit and that is whiskey
00:08 debauch and Jamie is the founder Amanda
00:10 Paul and head of cocktails Spencer
00:12 Pendergrass and before we go any further.
00:14 How do you become a head of cocktails?
00:17 You just make a lot of cocktails.
00:19 Drink a lot of cocktails.
00:20 Amanda, this is great to meet you
00:22 because we've had dad up here.
00:24 We've had the marketing team here,
00:26 but haven't had you.
00:27 Yes, I know this is my first time.
00:29 Thank you for having me.
00:31 Actually is the founder of this whiskey,
00:33 and so let's talk a little
00:35 about the backstory very quickly.
00:36 How this all come about?
00:38 I founded whiskey doll Bach
00:39 with my father in 2011 and it
00:41 was actually my mom's idea.
00:43 We really wanted to make whiskey that
00:45 was truly of the Sonoran Desert and
00:47 she had the idea to malt barley over
00:49 a mesquite fire instead of a peat fire.
00:52 Yeah, and the reason why is because
00:54 you guys are furniture builders.
00:56 We yes, and were yeah you were.
00:58 And that's where you had all this
01:00 extra wood that came home and scrap.
01:02 Yeah, my dad would always say those
01:04 are profits going up in smoke,
01:06 so we decided to put those scraps to good use.
01:09 So I love it.
01:10 Well, is a season that people start
01:11 to look for those gifts or even just
01:14 as we said starting to cool off to
01:16 enjoy this around the fire and again,
01:17 I want to make sure the disclaimer
01:19 they don't pay me.
01:20 I am not endorsed or anything by them yet,
01:23 but I love to be because this
01:25 is a great camping whiskey.
01:26 I have to say that even if you're
01:28 home camping or wherever,
01:29 because like you said,
01:31 it's made with mesquite,
01:32 so it's kind of like the fire
01:34 tastes a little bit.
01:35 So let's talk about the different
01:36 ones we have. Yeah, sure.
01:38 So we have our Dorado,
01:39 which is kind of the brainchild
01:41 of the whole project.
01:42 And then so this has a mesquite
01:44 smoke element to it.
01:45 Our classic does not,
01:47 so it's just straight barley,
01:48 kiln dried.
01:49 This is our Sentinel straight rye,
01:51 which is a rye finished in mesquite barrels.
01:53 So there's a little bit of that
01:55 soft mesquite flavor very dangerous.
01:57 Very very simple.
01:58 You take that with you sipping.
01:59 You will. It goes quickly.
02:01 Oh yes it does. Yes it does.
02:03 Then we have our Normandy here,
02:05 which is a classic base finished
02:07 in Calvados barrels and then the
02:09 one that's coming up for the
02:11 holidays here is our ode to Isla,
02:14 which is going to be the most
02:16 heavily smoked out of all of them.
02:18 So what's very interesting that
02:20 you are a young lady and they
02:22 always think whiskey as the man's
02:24 drink and that's one thing I love
02:26 is that you said no, you know what?
02:28 I want to show that this is great
02:30 for everyone to drink and that's
02:32 where Spencer comes in showing
02:33 some easy cocktail that you can
02:35 make at home. So what do we got here?
02:37 So right now we're going to go
02:39 in with some rosemary syrup,
02:41 so this is super easy to make at home.
02:43 It's just equal parts,
02:44 sugar, water and rosemary.
02:45 We're doing an ounce of lemon.
02:48 I like this is it.
02:49 This is just a half ounce of OJ
02:51 just to brighten up and round
02:53 out that citrus note and I
02:54 recommend everybody to get a jigger.
02:56 Don't think that you can eyeball it
02:58 or use your little measuring cup.
02:59 Get a jigger 'cause that's very
03:01 important there, absolutely.
03:02 And so and of course you use the
03:04 bigger ounces of Dorado. There you go.
03:05 Like it strong. I love this.
03:07 There you go.
03:07 And so we're going to throw a
03:09 little bit of ice in there, right?
03:10 Use a big cube so you can kind
03:12 of control the dilution.
03:13 And then if you'd like to do the honors.
03:16 Oh don't. Yeah, that's right.
03:19 Smile while you're shaking.
03:21 Smile. Let me tell you, listen,
03:23 I am the I'm behind control.
03:24 The guy yeah yeah.
03:25 There it is so I love this and this is
03:28 again very easy to do him and that's
03:30 one thing about of course whiskey
03:32 tobacco is that you wanted to have it
03:35 as a people can either drink it on the
03:37 rocks or on the fire or make the cocktails.
03:39 Which is crazy.
03:40 Yes, and that's where this box comes in,
