A woman came out as bisexual to her husband of nine years but remains happily married to the father of her two children whilst also dating a woman.
Melanie Morton, 31, revealed she was struggling with her sexuality and broached the idea of an open marriage last year with husband A.J., 35, who she wed in January 2013.
A.J. was supportive of his wife's desire to explore her sexuality - and encouraged her to go on dates with other women, even helping her to sign up to dating app Hinge.
Melanie met Jackie Olson, 26, a sales and marketing assistant, in June 2021 through the app and the pair hit it off with Jackie becoming Melanie's girlfriend - before meeting A.J. and their two children, aged eight and six.
While online entrepreneur A.J. is also free to date outside of their marriage, Melanie believes he is more ‘wired for monogamy’.

00:00 I've always just thought monogamy itself was weird.
00:04 I just don't think you can be with one person forever.
00:07 - My name's AJ, and I'm Melanie's husband
00:15 and Jackie's friend.
00:16 - My name is Jackie, and I'm Melanie's girlfriend.
00:19 - I'm Melanie, and I'm AJ's wife and Jackie's girlfriend.
00:27 - AJ and I met about almost a decade ago
00:31 as we were personal trainers.
00:33 We started dating, and a few weeks after we started dating,
00:37 I found out I was pregnant.
00:38 We had this whirlwind of a relationship.
00:42 We are living in California.
00:44 We have two kids.
00:45 That's how we met.
00:47 I've always just thought monogamy itself was weird.
00:56 I just don't think you can be with one person forever.
00:59 I just started to look into open marriages,
01:03 and that took me down this whole polyamory route,
01:06 and it just sounded like me.
01:09 I opened up that conversation with AJ.
01:13 He already knew at that time I was into women.
01:16 I talked about boundaries,
01:18 and we talked a lot before anything actually happened.
01:22 I dated other people.
01:23 He dated other people,
01:25 and that's what we do now.
01:26 We opened up our relationship,
01:28 and that's when I met Jackie.
01:30 We met on the app called Hinge.
01:32 Yeah, we just instantly connected,
01:34 and now we're just a little modern family.
01:37 Dating a woman and being in a type of relationship
01:47 like this is a big change.
01:49 I know how much AJ meant to Mel.
01:53 When we finally did meet, we really got along.
01:56 I was shaking the entire time.
01:59 I was really nervous, too,
02:00 'cause I was about to meet this really mysterious person
02:03 that my wife had been seeing.
02:04 I was just trying to be very cordial.
02:06 Jackie was very respectful,
02:08 and we've really built our friendship
02:10 based on being able to bond over Melanie
02:12 and just that mutual respect for each other
02:14 that neither of us are here to replace each other.
02:17 I never get jealous of AJ, maybe other women.

02:24 All of our friends actually were really, really supportive.
02:30 My mom and my dad straight up have said,
02:34 "We totally understand that you're bisexual."
02:36 They don't understand the polyamorous part.
02:38 Our children don't know about the dynamic just yet.
02:42 We do plan on telling our children
02:46 just about this whole dynamic
02:48 at the end of their school year.
02:50 So I'm really excited to tell them
02:52 and it just be all out in the open.

02:57 TikTok has been interesting.
03:03 It's allowed me to see that I'm definitely not alone.
03:07 You get the religious people who say that,
03:10 "I'm sinning and we're all gonna go to hell."
03:12 People have straight up been like,
03:13 "This isn't normal, go to therapy."
03:16 So I'm like, that's like telling someone who's gay
03:18 to go to therapy to not be gay anymore.
03:20 Like that doesn't make sense to me.
03:22 A lot of people think that AJ is like forcing me to do this
03:25 and like it was my idea to begin with.
03:28 - Doing this has made like a sense of newness
03:33 for me and Melanie and it makes us a whole lot stronger.
03:36 - Not only do I have Melanie,
03:38 I have this whole community now.
03:40 AJ is one of my best friends.
03:42 - It's just more love and it's really nice.
