00:00 Coming up this week, it is the Kierlin Fine Art and Wine Festival.
00:03 And here with me is Jamal Singh to tell us all about it.
00:06 How are you doing this morning? I'm doing great. How are you?
00:08 This is a really great fine art and wine festival.
00:12 It's been going on now.
00:14 We're really excited for the second annual Kierlin Fine Art and Wine Festival.
00:17 OK, because I know they've had a little different things out before,
00:19 but this one is is definitely one of the best.
00:21 Yeah, this is going to be awesome.
00:23 So let's talk about how this works, because it's art from all over coming in.
00:27 Right, right.
00:28 And with me, I have Crystal and Brooke. Crystal will be talking about art.
00:31 And Brooke is representing the wineries.
00:33 The event is this weekend, Friday and Saturday, October 28th and 29th.
00:37 The festival hours are from 10 to 5.
00:39 And we have over 100 artists, 15 Arizona wineries and live music all day long.
00:46 Oh, my gosh, this is awesome.
00:47 And again, it's going to have some good weather, too.
00:49 So nice walking around weather.
00:51 So the best part about it, too, is that there's no baseball games going on.
00:54 So you can come and watch and enjoy yourself.
00:57 There it is.
00:58 Let's talk, Crystal, about the art, because this is beautiful.
01:01 And this is your mother's work.
01:03 My mother's work. I represent her.
01:05 I've been representing her since I was 15.
01:08 She's Native American from the Hopi tribe, and she has no face on the pieces
01:12 because they represent one people, not just one person.
01:15 And she has been doing art shows for over 12.
01:18 I'm sorry.
01:19 She has been doing over 12 art shows all over the country and all over the nation.
01:24 And what I love about art shows is actually being able to meet the people
01:29 and have the opportunity to learn about your piece that you buy at the art show
01:32 and learn how it was made and why it was made.
01:34 And it gives you more of a connection to the piece.
01:36 Yeah, I love this.
01:37 So and this looks amazing.
01:38 That looks like it's almost like wood, but this is done in bronze.
01:41 She's really well known for her coloring, which is the patina.
01:44 And what it is is actually different combinations of heat and chemicals
01:47 on the bronze.
01:48 So we do a lot of layering to make it look like a stone or wood,
01:52 but it is all bronze. It's all metal.
01:54 This is very beautiful to see.
01:55 And so you'll have the pieces out there for people to purchase.
01:57 There will be tons of different art.
01:59 There's going to be everything from paintings, photography, jewelry,
02:03 mixed media, textiles.
02:04 It's one of the best shows to come to.
02:06 What's the largest piece she's ever done? How tall is this?
02:09 We have a six foot one in the Santa Fe Indian Arts and Culture Museum.
02:13 So, yeah, so I love it.
02:16 This is going to be great.
02:17 And now we're going to switch gears to wine.
02:19 And Brooke, this is great because you get to sip and enjoy art.
02:22 And of course, the more wine you drink, the more you buy, which is really nice.
02:27 This is awesome. You're a local winery located where?
02:30 Our cellar is down in Sonoita, Arizona, but we source grapes
02:35 from two vineyards in Sonoita and one out in Wilcox.
02:39 Yeah. And I noticed that Arizona is getting more and more of like the wine
02:42 places come a little more better than California.
02:44 I don't want to bring that up.
02:45 So let's talk about some of the wines you have here.
02:46 Yeah, we make an orange style Malvasia.
02:50 We do a rosé.
02:51 We do several reds as well as a dessert style port.
02:54 We're celebrating the end of harvest.
02:56 I just got home last night.
02:58 So this is a time for us to come and share our wines that we've been working on
03:02 for the last year to two years with the public and celebrate a fruitful,
03:07 beautiful crush season.
03:09 Yeah. And that's what's great about this is that you're going to be able
03:10 to get up close and talk with the people of the wineries and everything to see.
03:13 And then also learn how about to come visit them.
03:15 Can people do to do you do tours with? Yes.
03:17 So Wilcox Wine Country, there's roughly 14 wineries down in that region.
03:21 It's where the majority of the grapes that go to the different vineyards
03:25 and cellars in our state are sourced from.
03:27 And it's a beautiful part of Arizona.
03:30 Very pretty. Nice.
03:32 How many grapes do you think you picked this year?
03:33 Do you want to? We did roughly 26 tons.
03:36 26 tons. Yes. Wow.
03:38 That's a lot of grapes. Yeah.
03:40 So I had this friend named Lucy and she would stomp the grapes.
03:43 It was kind of funny. Her and her friend.
03:45 It was crazy. It was like, oh, look at them.
03:47 And like then they got into like a whole grape fight.
03:49 It was awesome and everything like that.
03:50 And then she started eating chocolate from, OK, another story like that.
03:53 We do all that.
03:55 This is awesome.
03:56 Jamel, this is great that again, this is this weekend.
03:58 Remind people about tickets and getting information on getting there.
04:01 The event is free, free admission to everyone.
04:05 If you want to take in the wine tastings, you can purchase tickets.
04:09 You could go on Caroline on our website, on the center's website
04:12 to purchase the tickets in advance.
04:14 Or if you decide at the door to purchase your tickets there, you can do it, too.
04:18 But yeah, it's going to be a wonderful weekend.
04:20 And the times again very quickly.
04:22 Yes. The festival is from ten to five both days.
04:25 I love it. There you go.
04:26 So I know we'll see our very own Polish director, Michael Petri, out there
04:29 walking around, sipping wine and buying art.
04:30 So very nice. Yes. Thank you, ladies, for coming in.
04:33 And of course, if you miss that, we got information on AZTV.com.
04:38 So, all right, stick around.
04:39 We got more of the mix coming up right after this.
