A short documentary about the history of the area of Whatipu, now a tourist destination, but was in the past the site of a timber mill receiving logs from as far as Piha, transporting them along the beach using a railway to the Whatipu mill for processing, and then loading onto sailing ships.

Reference has been made to the loss of lives due to the foundering and breaking up of HMS Orpheus on the Manukau bar on 7 February, 1863.
