00:00 With the winning team from Belgium it took them 34 hours 4 minutes and 41 seconds to
00:07 travel more than 3000 kilometers all the way from Darwin to right here in the heart of
00:12 Adelaide.
00:13 It is the second time that the Belgium team have won in a row, last winning in 2019.
00:19 Two Dutch teams came in in second and third position while an American team came in at
00:24 fourth place.
00:25 There are two categories in the Solar World Challenge, one is the Challenger class that
00:30 is a purely solar car.
00:33 The Cruiser class has both a solar and electric element to it.
00:39 We are expecting to see cars trickle in right throughout today and into tomorrow as well.
00:45 Cars do have to finish by Saturday evening to be able to consider themselves finishes
00:52 in this class.
00:53 There were 37 cars that were due to start the race, about 7 of those cars haven't passed
00:59 scrutiny so they weren't actually able to start the race.
01:02 So heartbreaking especially for those who have come all the way from overseas.
01:07 We are expecting to see a Japanese team to be the first car finished today.
01:13 Expecting that team to cross the line any time from about 9.30 central time onwards.
01:21 The conditions though, the teams have been thrown plenty of challenges.
01:25 It does get up to about 50 degrees inside the cockpit of these cars so excruciating
01:30 heat while driving.
01:32 Drivers do have cooler packs on them.
01:35 There have been also bushfires that they've had to navigate through.
01:41 But all in all it has been a very successful year.
01:44 The Belgians are licking their lips and still celebrating this morning.
01:48 While the Aussies, we are a chance of winning the Cruiser class today.
