00:10 Okay, really good week of practice, beautiful out there, guys were crisp.
00:19 Good finish to that Friday practice and then got some work to do tomorrow with
00:23 our meetings and our walkthrough and then we'll get on the airplane.
00:27 We're very excited about the challenge of going on the road and
00:30 playing a very good football team.
00:32 I think they're well coached.
00:34 I think they have players really at every level.
00:36 So we're excited about that challenge.
00:38 So we gotta go play our brand of football on the road if you wanna go get a win.
00:42 But with that, I'll take any questions.
00:43 >> How realistic is it for Jerome to play Sunday?
00:46 >> Questionable, I mean, practice team is limited, so we'll see.
00:51 >> [INAUDIBLE]
00:54 >> I saw a limited player.
00:57 Yeah, I mean, with all these guys that are working through injuries,
00:59 we'll make determinations.
01:02 We'll watch this tape, make determinations on how they look in 48 hours and
01:06 then see where it lands.
01:08 >> Would it be good to see Jed back out there too?
01:10 >> Yeah, I think a bunch of guys that get some injuries throughout the course of
01:16 practice and then you gotta fight through it, but good to have him back out there.
01:19 >> And if James had to go, how do you feel about James and
01:24 what you've seen from him in practice so far?
01:26 >> Yeah, I mean, James took every rep when Jed went down in practice,
01:30 also took every scout team rep.
01:32 He's a player that's dependable.
01:34 He's done a nice job when called upon.
01:36 >> [INAUDIBLE]
01:46 >> I don't know if it's possible.
01:51 I'm trying to think what you could do.
01:53 Yeah, I mean, every team, that first meeting with the coaches,
01:56 they talk about miles and don't let him wreck the game.
01:59 And it's the same stuff we do with elite rushers.
02:03 So he'll have their attention.
02:04 They may slide to him.
02:05 They may put tight ends, tight ends plural over there.
02:08 They can put the back over there.
02:10 But he gets their attention.
02:13 >> What does Frank Clark bring to the table for the Seahawks?
02:15 >> Yeah, really good rusher.
02:16 We've gone against him before,
02:18 but I don't know how much he can affect the pass game with his rush.
02:24 Physical football player, great effort.
02:26 So he's a good football player.
02:27 >> Kevin, with a guy like Amari, on Sunday, he didn't get targeted until late.
02:32 How do you kind of balance as a play caller, trying to get him some targets,
02:36 but also being patient, I guess, and letting it kind of come through?
02:39 >> It's always part of it.
02:40 I mean, you can't, it's hard to tell.
02:42 You try, obviously, to get your best players the ball.
02:45 And then it's hard to tell sometimes where the reeds are gonna take
02:48 the quarterback and what their plan is gonna be at times to try to
02:53 roll a safety over the top or double team him in man coverage or whatever it is.
02:56 So you go in with a plan and
02:58 knowing that ultimately the ball goes where the ball goes based on the coverage.
03:01 >> Have you seen a decent amount of progress in PJ over these weeks?
03:06 I don't think he was so much better than he did even two weeks ago.
03:09 >> Yeah, I think he's, like any player, Mary Kate,
03:11 getting comfortable in the scheme with his teammates, all those things.
03:16 I mean, it's not easy for any player, particularly a quarterback,
03:21 to play catch up and understand different nuances to your scheme,
03:24 certainly nuances to your teammates.
03:27 So he's worked real hard at that.
03:28 >> [INAUDIBLE]
03:40 >> I think with all of your players,
03:41 you're constantly working on relationships and understanding your guys.
03:45 And I spend a lot of time with the quarterbacks in the quarterback room and
03:50 extra meeting time with those guys.
03:52 And you always wanna understand, number one, what they're about off the field, but
03:56 also what they're comfortable with when it comes to football.
03:59 >> Bubba calls him Phil, where it's his name.
04:01 >> I've heard, yeah.
04:02 I know him as PJ.
04:03 >> [LAUGH] >> You mentioned Pete a couple times,
04:06 talking about Pete Carroll.
04:07 What stands out about his team?
04:10 >> Play with great energy, very physical, very sound.
04:14 They pride themselves on being about the ball and
04:18 getting football on defense and taking the ball away.
04:21 But you're in for a battle.
04:24 And he does a great job, has done a great job, really everywhere he's been.
04:28 >> Coach, with all the Sean news and everything like that,
04:33 it seems like it's more of a doom and gloom attitude in Cleveland right now.
04:36 But you guys are still four and two, still in the prior two,
04:38 everything in front of you.
04:40 What's been the difference of winning some of those close games this year as
04:44 opposed to going back last year when you guys kind of fell short in that?
04:48 >> Yeah, I think in the course of an NFL season,
04:50 you're gonna be in a bunch of close games.
04:52 That's how the league is set up.
04:54 It's really tight.
04:55 There's good teams from one through 32.
04:58 I know this week is a great challenge, two teams with four wins.
05:02 So when you get into those games with lead changes and they're tight,
05:06 it's gonna come down to a few plays.
05:08 And I think that's been certainly the case in our history.
05:11 And you look around the league, it's gonna be a few plays here or there.
05:15 You hope you make them.
05:16 >> Jamal Adams, there's a clear delineation between when he was out and
05:21 when he's back.
05:22 Just what does he mean for that defense?
05:25 What do you watch him on film?
05:26 >> A very, very physical football player has always been that way,
05:29 always plays with that style.
05:30 He's downhill, great around the ball, good in the pass game.
05:35 But you definitely see his energy and his physicality on tape.
05:38 >> Go back to Amari, I mean, besides obviously,
05:41 stuff we talked about with him, he seems pretty good at drawing contact this year,
05:45 especially when you guys needed it, getting those DPI calls.
05:49 How much of a skill is that almost for receivers?
05:52 >> Yeah, I don't know that it's necessarily a skill.
05:55 I think Amari has a unique skill set in being so big and
05:59 physical at the top of routes.
06:02 And I think, excuse me,
06:04 defensive backs can be grabby when you have somebody that size.
06:08 That's one of the things I first, not knowing Amari and then first getting to
06:12 know Amari and getting to see Amari on the football field is,
06:15 you really do feel him coming off the ball.
06:17 You feel his size, his forward lean.
06:20 So he's a bigger wide receiver.
06:22 So I think that plays into it where there is physicality at the top of routes and
06:26 sometimes you can't help but grab and hold him.
06:30 >> Has tracked that stuff internally and
06:32 like with that play if he draws a flag plus, you guys can grade that as a positive.
06:38 >> That's a good question.
06:39 We do have a grading system.
06:42 But yeah, I mean, that's part of it.
06:44 Listen, you're gonna run routes.
06:45 There's times where he gets grabbed and they don't get called.
06:47 I mean, that's part of it as well.
06:49 That was earlier in the game felt like he was grabbed and wasn't called.
06:52 So you just as a receiver coach O'Shea does a great job with his receivers to make
06:57 sure they continue to play through it.
06:59 You can't just give up once you're grabbed, you have to fight through it.
07:02 That will typically get you the flag as opposed to giving up on the play.
07:06 >> Seahawks getting sacks from 11 different guys.
07:10 What challenges does that present that they're coming from anyway?
07:13 >> Yeah, it's a good point, Mary Kay, because they can pressure with their
07:16 secondary, they can pressure with the linebackers.
07:18 Obviously, with the front four and they roll their guys.
07:21 So they have good rushers on the right, on the left, up the middle.
07:25 They really have a balanced rush attack.
07:27 So we're aware cuz it's all over the tape.
07:31 I mean, they're really aggressive rushers.
07:34 >> Metcalf, his physicality, just what does that add to the, add to their off?
07:41 >> Yeah, rare size, athleticism, speed, you name it.
07:45 But just a really big physical wide receiver has made plays down the field
07:51 with the ball in his hands, you name it.
07:53 So he's a great, great challenge for our guys.
07:55 >> Good.
07:57 >> Okay, thanks guys.
