00:00 My name is Claire Peden, I'm here from Unite the Union, Unite for Workers Economy campaign
00:11 as part of the Support UK Steel. We're here today in Sheffield with members of the community,
00:18 steel workers and activists to campaign to support and save the UK steel industry. Only
00:25 recently it's been announced that there could be up to 20,000 job losses in the UK alone.
00:30 This would be absolutely catastrophic for our steel communities. We want politicians
00:37 to listen, to act and to hear our demands. That is for future investment, to transition
00:44 into green steel with no job losses and for change to rules so all UK infrastructure projects
00:50 uses UK steel. This is particularly important just now in the run up to a general election
00:56 where politicians are looking for our votes and I think that this is, today this is a
01:03 message to them that they must act on behalf of ordinary people and they must speak out
01:09 and protect our steel industry for the future. Or you won't vote for them. Or we won't vote
01:15 for them.
