00:00 Warren Buffett is one of the richest men in the world and arguably the most successful
00:06 investor of all time.
00:07 And this past week he released his updated portfolio showing that he dumped over 52
00:13 million shares of one stock.
00:15 We're going to cover that today.
00:17 My name is Gav Blacksburg, aka Wolf Financial.
00:19 I'm here with Evan from Stock Market News.
00:22 If you enjoy these type of videos, go ahead and like the video and make sure that you're
00:25 subscribed to the channel that you're watching on because we're going to keep coming out
00:28 with content like this.
00:29 Let's get right into it with a look at Warren Buffett's updated portfolio.
00:33 Evan, I'll turn it over to you.
00:35 Awesome.
00:36 Yeah, I appreciate that.
00:37 If you enjoy the video, make sure to like and subscribe and getting right into it.
00:42 So important columns to be looking at here, that first column, the name of the stock that
00:47 tells you what stock they're holding, and then column number five over there that shows
00:51 you the number of shares that they are holding.
00:53 And if there's like five of the same stock, which you can see with pretty much most of
00:56 them on Warren Buffett's portfolio, you kind of add them all together and that shows you
01:00 the complete holdings.
01:01 So if you want to scroll down that quickly, again, this is as of the end of December 31st,
01:06 end of Q4.
01:08 This is just their long positions.
01:10 And it's not always a complete picture of what they're doing and what they hold, but
01:15 this does give you a really good insight into everything that these companies are doing.
01:20 Perfect.
01:22 You want to scroll over to the Savvy Trader picture.
01:24 We do have it really kind of summed up in one place so you can see all of the stocks
01:30 and what percentage that is in that portfolio.
01:31 And you can really see right at the top, Buffett is very invested into Apple.
01:37 It's 41.8% of their common stock portfolio, which is a little bit surprising, not something
01:42 you would expect Buffett to have, but he has had this for a while and this has kind of
01:46 become known.
01:47 They actually added to their Apple position last quarter.
01:50 It was one of three stocks that they increased their holdings in last quarter.
01:54 They now own about 5.8% ownership in the company.
01:59 And if you own Apple and you get a dividend, I promise you Buffett gets a much, much larger
02:04 dividend.
02:05 Q4, based on the shares that they owned as of the end, they got a $210.6 million dividend
02:12 check.
02:13 I don't know what I would do with that type of dividend check, but Buffett seems to have
02:17 that underway.
02:18 And then the other major move that was hinted at at the start of this video was their move
02:24 in Taiwan Semiconductor.
02:26 So Taiwan Semiconductor, you can see it's right at the bottom, now the 31st largest
02:30 holding.
02:31 And Wolf, if you could quickly switch over to that other photo that we have from their
02:35 last holdings.
02:36 And you can see right there at the bottom, it says Taiwan Semiconductor on the bottom
02:40 left.
02:41 It was their 10th largest holding as of the end of last quarter.
02:45 So quite the drop there.
02:47 They owned 60.6 million shares as of the end of Q3.
02:51 And as of the end of Q4, they owned 8.3 million shares, meaning they dumped about 52.3 million
02:57 shares during the quarter.
02:59 And that's not really kind of what Buffett's style is at all.
03:04 So we'll see.
03:05 We don't even know fully if it was him.
03:07 But the large stake, which purchased at prices between around $69 to $92, and they sold down
03:15 the stake in the company at prices between $60 to $83.
03:20 And the stock is currently trading at $98.
03:23 So not the best move for Buffett with Taiwan Semiconductor, considering how it's moved.
03:29 But definitely have to look at that one in the future.
03:32 Wolf, were there any moves that he made that stood out to you that I didn't mention?
03:36 Yeah, it's interesting how he continues to add to Apple and enlarge that position.
03:40 Obviously, the company and the portfolio is doing pretty well, increased its value by
03:44 $3 billion as reported in that 13F from the last quarter.
03:49 So thought that was pretty interesting.
03:50 It's also unique to me that, you know, Bank of America, CVX are up here.
03:54 Those are positions that we continue to keep an eye on.
03:56 We know that he's continued to increase his positions in oil and energy over the past
04:01 year or so.
04:02 Maybe less surprising to see CVX get up this high.
04:04 Wolf, he actually sold some of his Chevron last quarter.
04:08 Look at that.
04:10 So he was increasing some of those positions throughout the year.
04:12 I think the big one that people continue to talk about was Auxie.
04:16 But as you can see, that's down at number seven, far behind some of these other positions
04:22 which are majorly weighting up that portfolio.
04:24 So I'd say that's what stands out to me.
04:26 I think it looks like Auxie is coming in.
04:28 It was at six.
04:29 They've continued.
04:30 I don't believe they sold any of that position.
04:32 As far as I know, it's continued to accumulate some pieces.
04:35 So curious to see where that ends up.
04:36 It looks like it's currently sitting at seven.
04:39 All right.
04:40 Do we want to hop over to some of these other 13Fs?
04:44 Yeah, just quickly before we do go over, he did lower his stake in Chevron a little bit
04:50 during the quarter.
04:51 He lowered his stake in Activision a little bit during the quarter, Kroger, Bank of New
04:56 York, Melanin, BK, and a few others in there.
05:00 But there is also a lot more 13Fs filed, a lot more fund managers showing off what they
05:06 are doing.
05:07 And a couple things stood out to me.
05:10 First, going over to Michael Burry's portfolio.
05:13 He's become very, very popular online.
05:16 And I saw a funny joke from Greg Gavin talking about, "I don't get why people don't like
05:19 Burry."
05:20 He's guessed 50 of the last two recessions, which goes along with it.
05:25 And it's funny.
05:26 If you want to switch over to the tweet right now to the right, Burry's portfolio, and you
05:31 can see what he owns.
05:32 He owns a little bit of Alibaba.
05:33 He owns a little bit of JD as well, MGM.
05:36 He actually cut his holding in GeoGroup in half.
05:40 And some other stuff.
05:41 He is an active trader, so this might not be fully accurate for right now.
05:45 But this is what he held as of December 31st.
05:48 If you want to quickly scroll over to that picture that I replied below it.
05:53 Yeah, this is what his holdings looked like last quarter.
05:58 So you can pause the video, rewind, go in and compare that.
06:01 But that is how Burry's portfolio has changed, adding Alibaba, JD, and some others.
06:07 And I also thought it was really interesting.
06:09 George Soros, in his 13F, there was a lot in it if you go to the right, Wolf.
06:14 He actually owned some ARKK calls.
06:17 You can see it, Control F in there.
06:20 He owned 500 ARKK calls as of December 31st.
06:24 Now obviously, you know how ARKK did at the start of the year.
06:28 It was up like 28%, 30%.
06:30 January was the best month ever for Cathie Wood.
06:33 So George Soros definitely made a good trade there.
06:37 And then Wolf, I don't know if there's any other moves that you saw that were intriguing
06:41 to you.
06:42 Yeah, George Soros put on that short position on SI that we saw.
06:46 He'd taken out a bunch of put options.
06:48 And so retail has been attempting to squeeze him out of that.
06:51 So that's another one which I'm keeping my eye on.
06:53 But not too much else for Soros.
06:55 You want to scroll over to the next one and talk a little bit about what you thought of
07:01 Steve Cohen's move?
07:02 Yeah, is this one Steve Cohen's?
07:05 Yep.
07:06 Yeah, we can hop into there.
07:08 I haven't tracked Steve Cohen too closely.
07:10 So what you want to look at there, Control F for GameStop.
07:14 That was the big move that was kind of being highlighted in there for Steve Cohen.
07:19 And Point72 became a little bit of a popular trade there.
07:23 But they disclosed owning some GameStop shares.
07:26 So that got all the meme stocks going, AMC and all the other ones.
07:30 They don't go by TechReap's type in-game.
07:33 Got it.
07:34 I might have the wrong 13F up.
07:38 I think this looks like a...
07:41 No worries at all.
07:43 But yeah.
07:44 Yeah.
07:45 So it's just interesting.
07:47 But I'll say kind of circling back to some of these is, you know, it's fascinating that
07:52 we get to see a little bit of an insight into people who have produced really great investments
07:57 over time.
07:58 And we get to track them quarter to quarter.
07:59 Like you mentioned, it's not necessarily updated to this week.
08:03 However, typically, most of them are holding things for longer than a quarter.
08:08 So it's a pretty helpful structure for us to look at.
08:13 Anything else we wanted to touch on in this video?
08:15 Yeah, you know, that is very dependent on the person.
08:18 Someone like a Michael Burry, he moves very quickly.
08:20 And some of these more active traders, they do move very quickly.
08:23 So, you know, some of these people are long term investors.
08:26 Some of them are traders.
08:27 But it's very hard to know exactly what's happening here.
08:30 But this gives you a decent little insight there.
08:33 If you enjoyed the video, make sure you like and subscribe if this is something you want
08:36 to see more of.
08:37 Let us know in the comments below or DMs or anything like that.
08:40 And we look forward to talking next time.
08:42 Perfect.
08:43 Looking forward to talking with everybody on the next one.
