00:07 This is Ford's new 2011 Edge.
00:10 It's a major update, major refresh of the crossover sport utility that debuted a few years ago.
00:16 If you think about what Ford did with the 2010 Fusion,
00:19 it's doing something similar with this crossover.
00:21 We're looking at the Edge Sport.
00:23 It comes with 22-inch wheels.
00:25 The standard Edge will be available with 18- and 20-inch wheels.
00:29 More importantly, we have three new engines in this model.
00:32 The 3.5-liter engine, 268 horsepower,
00:36 and in the Sport, the 3.7-liter V6 from the Mustang, making 305 horsepower.
00:42 Even more importantly, Ford will introduce its 2-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine in this model.
00:49 This shows a lot of confidence in that EcoBoost philosophy
00:52 in that you get great fuel economy, great power out of a smaller, more fuel-efficient engine.
00:57 Ford is hoping for somewhere around 30 mpg on the highway, although it's not saying so officially.
01:03 The interior is pretty slick.
01:04 It's been heavily updated with much better materials,
01:07 a new touch-sensitive volume control, for example.
01:11 Just really nice, slick features, and especially highlighting the new MyFordTouch sync system.
01:17 Now, the Ford Edge has never been a favorite of Motor Trends or myself.
01:21 The original model was a bit too heavy for its size,
01:25 and dynamically not a very fun crossover to drive.
01:28 I'm hoping that with the type of improvements they're showing here,
01:32 that if they've done with the Edge what Ford did with the Ford Fusion,
01:36 we're going to have a much improved product.
