00:00 The Philippines has filed another diplomatic protest against China over Beijing's latest
00:05 actions during a resupply mission in Ayunginshol.
00:08 In a recent statement, the National Task Force for the West Philippine Sea says the encounter
00:12 between Manila and Beijing took place at 7.30 a.m. on Friday.
00:17 The task force adds the Chinese Coast Guard and militia vessels harassed, blocked, and
00:20 conducted dangerous maneuvers against Philippine vessels.
00:24 The CCG also used water cannon against a Philippine commissioned boat in an attempt to alter its
00:28 course.
00:29 The Philippine government has relayed its condemnation to the Chinese Foreign Ministry
00:32 and maritime communications mechanism between the two countries.
00:36 Security analyst Ray Powell also monitored the resupply mission as it unfolded, citing
00:41 heavy presence from the Chinese side.
00:43 "It looks like about five Coast Guard and about 20 militia ships in the area by the
00:50 time the resupply was underway.
00:53 This indicates that both sides are in for a long struggle.
00:57 The Philippines has certainly committed itself to the idea that it's going to assert its
01:02 rights.
01:03 China has not yet indicated that it's ready to back away.
01:09 So I think that both sides are sort of indicating that they're in it for the long haul."
01:15 In a separate statement, the Chinese Coast Guard says the Philippines trespassed into
01:19 their territory.
01:20 Chinese Ambassador Wang Ziliang attended the 10th Manila Forum in Taguig on Friday.
01:25 And in his speech, the ambassador did not address the recent resupply issue, but he
01:29 cited the need for cooperation among countries amid global challenges.
01:32 "A new period of turbulence and transformation.
01:38 Global development is facing enormous challenges.
01:43 It is a daunting task for all countries to stabilize the economies."
01:49 The Philippine government also urges China to stop making actions that are casting doubts
01:54 on their sincerity to engage in peaceful negotiations.
01:57 The Philippines has so far filed 125 diplomatic protests under the Marcos administration.
