00:00 When Texas A&M hired Jimbo Fisher to replace Kevin Sumlin in 2017, he was supposed to represent
00:06 the turning point and the future of the program.
00:09 No more mediocrity, no more failure.
00:11 It was championships and lots of them or nothing.
00:15 With big responsibilities come big rewards.
00:18 Fisher was signed to a massive extension through 2031 that would pay him $9.6 million per year.
00:25 But that decision on Fisher turned out to be a huge mistake as the Aggies have decided
00:30 to part ways with Fisher.
00:32 With this decision, A&M now owes Fisher the largest buyout for a college football head
00:37 coach in the history of the sport with $76 million.
00:42 Prior to Sunday's announcement, Auburn held the record for buyout money as they paid Gus
00:47 Malzahn $21 million to leave.
00:50 Unfortunately, the money owed won't stop there as the true total the program will have to
00:54 pay will come in the neighborhood of $150 million.
01:00 The amount being paid shows just how badly the decision makers at A&M wanted to move
01:04 on from Fisher and it's not hard to see why.
01:08 In his tenure, Fisher went 45-25 and 27-21 in conference play.
01:15 And Fisher was unable to get the Aggies to more than nine wins during his six seasons
01:20 there.
01:21 While many are relieved to be done with Fisher and his antics, it is hard to explain just
01:25 how much of a coaching disaster this whole thing has been, possibly one of the biggest
01:30 in college football history.
01:32 From all Aggies, I'm Alexandra Cox.
