00:00 [BLANK_AUDIO]
00:10 >> I wonder what you guys liked about what you did tonight and
00:13 what you think you could have done better.
00:15 >> Yeah, I think our defense was a lot better tonight.
00:19 I think we're more connected on the defensive side of the ball.
00:23 Really showed some potential there.
00:25 And also on offense, I think center half, we started sharing the ball a lot more and
00:29 the shots started coming easier to us.
00:31 [BLANK_AUDIO]
00:38 >> Trey, when you hit your first shot, how much more confidence does that give you?
00:42 And it seemed like it did tonight for you offensively, at least early on.
00:46 >> Definitely, yeah, but I try to not base my game off making shots and
00:50 not making shots.
00:50 But when it went in, it definitely gave me a boost of energy, for sure.
00:53 Try to carry that on for the rest of the game.
00:54 [BLANK_AUDIO]
00:59 >> A question for both of you.
01:00 Could you guys take us through what practice has been like since the loss,
01:05 Friday to Chattanooga, and just how did the coaches and
01:09 you guys get right up heading into this game?
01:11 >> Yeah, after the game and the next day, we had some serious talks with the coaches,
01:17 with the whole team, everyone in the staff.
01:20 And the last practices have been really competitive, and
01:23 we were really getting after it.
01:25 We started hoping a lot more,
01:26 which I think really just started helping continue to build that chemistry.
01:30 >> Definitely, and just to build off that, I feel like as a unit,
01:34 we're playing more how we play in practice.
01:36 I don't know if it was just the first couple games, just nerves or something, but
01:40 we're playing together how we play in practice, sharing the ball, playing fast,
01:43 and we mimic that today.
01:44 [BLANK_AUDIO]
01:46 >> For both of you, did you see this as an encouraging sign going to New York, and
01:50 how do you feel about lining up against Texas, and then Indiana, or UConn?
01:55 >> Yeah, absolutely, we definitely needed a good win going into New York.
01:58 And like coach has been telling us, we play together, we play hard on defense.
02:04 We talk, and we just play together on both sides of the floor, and
02:07 we can compete with anybody.
02:08 [BLANK_AUDIO]
02:12 >> He said it all, really, it all starts in practice, just harping on it.
02:16 And I feel like today, like I said earlier,
02:17 I feel like we're executing more how we play in practice, more together, and
02:20 more focused.
02:22 Carrying that into New York is what we need.
02:23 >> Just to follow up on the second to last answer you gave over here in the corner,
02:30 somewhere, you said serious conversations recently.
02:35 Can you kind of unpack that a little bit, and
02:38 what was kind of revealed maybe by some of those conversations?
02:43 >> Yeah, really just everyone looking at themselves in the mirror,
02:45 looking at the things they need to improve on.
02:47 Not trying to point fingers at anybody, but really looking at what you need to work on,
02:53 what you need to improve on from a player standpoint, from a coaching standpoint.
02:58 And we just really need to talk about it all starts in practice and shoot around.
03:01 We have great practices and great shoot arounds,
03:03 then it just builds up that energy and that confidence going into the game.
03:07 [BLANK_AUDIO]
03:13 >> There's always a difference between, a KB says to this team,
03:17 I shoot really well in practice, but I'm gonna start the game tonight,
03:20 that wasn't the case.
03:22 What's it like for you all when you do have those moments,
03:24 you're making a lot of shots in practice, but then you start the game tonight,
03:28 it seemed like you couldn't get a shot to fall from deep.
03:30 And does that build up to a point where you just feel like you need to get a basket?
03:37 >> Yeah, we just stay confident, and we know we work really hard.
03:43 We all know we can really shoot the ball.
03:44 So we know at some point, we're really gonna start clicking from people.
03:48 So we're not worried about that, we're gonna keep shooting and
03:51 they're gonna start falling.
03:52 [BLANK_AUDIO]
03:54 >> Yeah, you got a double-double trade, was that a conscious effort on your part to
03:58 try and be more of a rebounder tonight?
04:00 >> Not really, it's not more conscious of me trying to go get a double-double,
04:04 it's just more of like we gotta win.
04:06 In some moments my shot wasn't falling, so we needed rebounds to keep our pace going.
04:11 So I just tried to do whatever we need to win, and tonight it had to be rebounds too.
04:14 [BLANK_AUDIO]
04:18 >> You guys have mentioned that you can play against anybody,
04:20 you can play your game against anybody.
04:21 You guys are going up against Texas next.
04:24 So going up against that kind of competition, what are the expectations like,
04:28 and ultimately, how do you prepare for something like that?
04:31 >> Yeah, we know we gotta bring it.
04:32 They're obviously a really great team.
04:34 They have a lot of great players, and I got to play against them last year.
04:39 So I know a little bit of how they play and what they can do.
04:43 So I know just coming into New York, we really gotta be locked in,
04:48 mainly on the defensive end.
04:49 That's how we're gonna win.
04:50 Offense won't win us anything.
04:51 We gotta really get on them on defense.
04:54 >> Anything else for these two?
04:56 Okay, thank you.
04:59 >> Thank you.
