00:00 the dressing room we both now expect keep it clean break straight away when told or if you
00:04 watch your heads in close good luck to you both touch gloves good luck lads.
00:08 As he was on the night in this arena when Karl Kroos beat George Groves it was intense at the
00:17 weigh-in yesterday Scarfe doing all he could to get under Esserman's skin he was as calm and
00:22 collected as always there was friction between the two camps as well and the supporters who
00:27 were in there with them it's a fight that goes much deeper than these two in there tonight Esserman
00:31 says Scarfe's annoyed him the challenger's convinced he's got the champion rattled and now Steve
00:36 we will find out and we will find out it's a whole case of whether everybody in the Scarfe
00:42 business could get under Esserman's skin because a calm and relaxed and controlled Echo Esserman
00:48 he wins this Esserman loses his cool it's a harder fight.
00:55 It's the first Nottingham Derby title fight since Karl Kroos you are mentioned for Damon Haig 19
01:01 years ago Esserman who's unbeaten in 19 fights very good technician hard to pin down a very good boxer
01:08 Harry Scarfe looking to unload here in the first round there is a feeling that
01:11 Esserman might just want to change his tactics tonight a little bit maybe take the fight to
01:16 Scarfe and maybe try and prove a point in there. Well I think Esserman's been a guy I use him as
01:20 my classic under the radar guy this is his sixth British title fight his fifth defense pledge very
01:26 few people know him he should be better known perhaps he maybe needs to just be involved in
01:31 something like a thriller. Scarfe's the bigger man at six feet one he's lost twice despite his first
01:37 12 rounder tonight challenging for his first British title and he is tall and rangy for a
01:42 welterweight isn't he at six one he's a very different build to Esserman the champion.
01:47 Yeah both of those defeats are upper weight and lightweight against big light middleweights Troy
01:52 Williamson who has a really really big light middleweight and fouler. Scarfe certainly made
01:59 the point here of trying to start fast that's a really good long right hand though by Esserman
02:03 that got through and just snapped the head of the challenger back he's known as the engine
02:08 echo Esserman because he fights at this pace for 12 rounds he's got a wonderful stamina about him
02:16 and it's going to be interesting if this fight does go deep whether Scarfe can go with him
02:20 good body work from Esserman here in the first round. Because Esserman will be there landing
02:24 those body shots landing switching to head but people tend to think that Esserman's not a puncher
02:29 not a banger he's hard enough you keep getting hit by a man like him a solid man. His camp were
02:34 telling me about an hour or so ago that he's much more calm tonight backstage than he was when he
02:39 fought Chris Congo which was a majority decision victory for him a tough night at the office for
02:46 him but he's closing in on a world title fight if he does come through tonight that he might just
02:51 put himself into that conversation but before all of that he's going to get through a very determined
02:56 man in horrible Harry Scarfe. And he is determined Scarfe and he's doing the right thing and making
03:02 it ugly as possible making it as ugly as possible there's a lot of rounds to make it ugly.
03:06 20 seconds to go in the first round this one scheduled for 12 Esserman working to the body
03:15 and then doubling up to the head as well. First time we've seen Scarfe just having his
03:21 hands held high peeking out behind the guard
03:23 swinging wildly with the left hand right at the end of this first round and there's the bell.
03:31 [Applause]
03:38 [Music]
03:48 [Applause]
03:58 Welcome back to Manchester there's Zack Parker another Darby connection Sam's
04:15 Harry Scarfe from Darby and the city of Zack Parker fights out of as well tight first round
04:22 Steve how did you see it? I thought I just gave that the echo is an argument for giving it to
04:27 Scarfe I don't do 10 10 rounds I've got to decide and go one way or the other. They come for the
04:33 second round then the size difference between them is quite stark I mean he's known as a bit of a
04:38 spoiler. There's the Scarfe whether he can do that tonight we'll wait and see Esserman this good
04:43 technician after the box behind the jab and there he is working there.
04:48 Esserman landing a solid shot in there the right hook and he tried to follow it up with a hook
05:01 come up the cut as well straight off the back of it. He's a lot more aggressive than normal Echo
05:06 Esserman. I'm not saying they've got inside his head but he's a lot more aggressive than normal
05:12 privately he's been telling people that he'd really like the stoppage tonight that's the way
05:16 that he's come out here more aggressive as Steve says in the early stages of fights than we're used
05:22 to seeing plenty of verbal in the build-up as you'd expect with the local rivalry between the fighters
05:27 and the trainers they've sparred before of course the stories of those spars
05:31 are conflicting Scarfe's been saying that Esserman's avoided him Esserman says he intends to be more
05:36 physical tonight and there is this tremendous amount of intercity pride on the line not just
05:42 in the ring but in the arena as well when you mix in the Forest fans the Derby fans the
05:47 Stoke fans with Nathan Heaney later it's quite a mix in here. Certainly a night of celebration for the East Midlands
05:54 I'm pulling Stoke into that one slightly geographically challenged but hey I'm doing it.
06:05 Esserman landing the better punches here in the second round the better work coming from
06:09 the champion Scarfe at the moment finding it difficult to pin him down.
06:11 Good one shot from Esserman that fell on the chin it was a good shot it's been thought of furious
06:19 pace this match and this is you know this is Echo this is the engines territory fast fight first bell
06:24 to last bell looks really confident Esserman as well does lean his body language he's up on his
06:28 toes he's bouncing around picking his shots he's settled in really quickly here he's settled in
06:34 really quickly because he's got something to prove here as you say these two cities are separated by
06:37 just a small stretch of road there's an awful lot of pride at stake in this ring.
06:41 Separated by the A52 which is now called Brian Clockway. Scarfe looking to let his punches go
06:50 for the first time in this second round and his supporters in the arena just lifted by that.
06:55 Esserman digging for the body.
07:00 Right hook from Esserman.
07:09 I think the big difference between the two of them to this point Steve is that Esserman is
07:18 much more elusive in the from Scarfe he's a lot easier to hit it would appear he's a lot more
07:23 mobile in this fight than normal Esserman he's fighting a really fluid entertaining fighter.
07:30 In the same spot where you always get it listen think about your defense yeah after you do your
07:46 work defense yeah because you're not going to throw that shirt away yeah don't score points
07:51 and they can get one back yeah good land still keep targeting his body bring that uppercut into play
07:56 now yeah yeah I feel it beautiful keywords of that jab
08:04 looking to uh bring the uppercut into play that seemed to be the message
08:13 that was coming from Clifton Mitchell during the talk against Scarfe's corner
08:18 Clifton Turner Linderson the shots they're silly shots but he's marked up it's quite a
08:23 grueling fight look at the state of his neck there looks like he's been grabbed looks like
08:26 he's been a quick aerobic wrestler for five minutes on the mat this is a hard grueling fight it's
08:31 going to get harder and more grueling Esserman can be patient in there he's gone the distance
08:37 in his last three fights he knows the 12 rounds are comfortable for him Scarfe's been 10 rounds
08:42 four times but never the 12 and he's taken a couple of meaty shots there on the chin to start
08:48 the round couple of body shots were good as well Esserman happy to let his hands go with
08:52 Scarfe on the ropes Scarfe smiling we're having Scarfe was caught and hurt once or twice now
08:56 with a fast start this from Echo Esserman the defending British Commonwealth and IVF European
09:08 welterweight champion he's been nice and aggressive from the opening bell coming
09:14 forward throwing punches and looking to try and get Scarfe out of there and it is personal and
09:19 it's got that feel to it and that's what's going to make it a good fight that's what's
09:22 going to make it a more entertaining fight than it maybe would have been
09:24 neither of them are renowned knockout artists seven stoppages in 19 fights for Esserman just
09:39 the three in the 12 wins for Harry Scarfe Esserman four years older at 34
09:45 when Scarfe's leading with the jab he's leaving it just a bit too far and it's allowing Echo to
10:06 try and set up a counter every success that Scarfe has is being cheered on by his supporters
10:12 inside Manchester Arena just over a minute to go in the third
10:18 Howard Foster stepping in between them
10:29 so quite a significant reach advantage Harry Scarfe just based on the physical
10:43 advantages that he has but the jab's not been a factor really to this point he's got the advantage
10:48 he's been surrendering them by throwing shots too low and getting allowing himself to get too close
10:52 that's what he is even though he's tall he's tall for a lightweight or he's tall for a welter
10:56 he doesn't use that length and that distance and that height to his advantage
10:59 both of them looking to win the exchange on the inside
11:25 Scarfe having to put his way off the ropes there
11:27 and there's the bell to end the third
11:31 soon as you come up you can whip that hook off yeah you can whip them hooks up
11:44 have a look for it suck it up come on suck it up suck it up
11:47 suck it up
11:48 so listen whip them hooks round as soon as as soon as they as soon as they're there you can just
11:58 whip them round it's there his hands are down you will catch him yeah that's a shot boom you caught
12:03 him already everyone you know what I'm saying to you he knows he's in a fight now I mean understand
12:09 stay cool easy keep your legs out nice and steady keep them on keep faking him off
12:14 what's good all right
12:15 killing out the instructions to Larry Scarfe
12:23 people wanted him to let his punches go that was the main message between rounds when he's there
12:30 so that he wants Scarfe to let his hands go not wait too long well and that's probably best because
12:35 if he doesn't if he doesn't throw something when someone's close this one's going to keep
12:38 whacking away to the body and bringing over the left hook he's got he's got to work when Scarfe's
12:43 in front of him that's the man with the experience his last five fights have been for the British
12:48 and Commonwealth titles he's already won a Lonsdale belt outright last time we saw him
12:54 he beat Chris Congo by the majority decision in January and he needed a strong finish in that one
13:01 to make sure Griffin Mitchell was saying in the build-up that Scarfe's been sparring four minute
13:07 rounds with different sparring partners in preparation for tonight no surprise really
13:12 because stamina at some stage tonight against Vesely will have to be a factor absolutely do
13:17 you know when you're fighting this I mean you know what he's going to do he's going to stand
13:20 in front of you he's not going to make too many mistakes he's got a good chin and he's going to
13:23 keep on hitting and working away it's that simple
13:33 Scarfe this time working behind the champ and having a bit of success in doing it
13:37 creating a bit of space for his hands gone haven't seen him do that very much at all
13:41 to this stage we're into the four
13:44 Scarfe's last loss was against Troy Williamson on short notice at York Hall back in 2020 a fight
13:56 some people thought that he'd won he's beaten Jack Flatley lost on points to Anthony Fowler
14:02 trying to win some belts in there tonight against Echo Esamen I wonder whether he might just
14:07 change the tactics a little bit now he's had that success behind the champ and try and keep it long
14:12 well it might not be down to him it might be down to if Echo allows him to create that bit of space
14:17 Echo's game is to get close and let his hands go which is what he's doing here
14:21 Esamen's bringing the better of the two on the inside to this stage
14:30 but in the first two rounds Echo was reading the jab as well and letting his right hand go
14:37 at the top of it he's obviously doesn't want to create that space once they get close
14:41 and work from close range up and down
14:43 two men who haven't been too far away from each other since the opening bell
14:52 40 seconds to go in the four Esamen from Nottingham Scarfe from Derby
14:58 city rivals with belts on the line here in Manchester
15:04 it's a very hard fight there just a very grueling and physical fight
15:18 feels like a fight that Scarfe's going into as well
15:25 I think Scarfe's nicked this round and I think he nicked the third round
15:29 well there's the bell a fight that's boiling up nicely here after this we'll see Solomon
15:36 Dakers defend his English heavyweight title against Michael Webster and he's speaking to Becky Ives
15:42 so
16:09 he's up next tonight Steve Solomon Dakers I'm a big fan of Solomon Dakers I saw him at nine
16:14 minute war with Daniel Dubois back in about 2016 it was so brutal and watching through my fingers
16:20 he narrowly lost you all know about Dubois we don't know about Solomon Dakers he might just be
16:25 the biggest secret in heavyweight in British heavyweight boxing that Steve's card to this stage
16:32 all tied first two rounds for Esamen rounds three and four to Harry Scarfe 38 points apiece after
16:39 four rounds unofficial of course the judges for this one Steve Gray Victor Loughlin
16:44 and Kevin Parker fifth round scheduled for 12 between Echo Esamen
16:47 and Harry Scarfe for the British Commonwealth and IBF European titles here in Manchester
16:54 it'll be interesting in this round to see how Esamen responds after two relatively strong rounds
17:00 from the challenger Steve absolutely I mean the first two rounds wasn't a lot in here but I thought
17:03 those last two rounds are fairly clear fairly clear for Scarfe and what's more it seems that Scarfe
17:09 knew what he was doing was enjoying it started to find more and more success with the long punches
17:18 and so he should and so he should flex but he's high advantage and what is your vantage
17:23 and that's a push hopeful landing potentially as well for Harry Scarfe
17:28 Howard Foster tells him to get back to his feet nothing more than that
17:51 wasn't a bit of ticking off let's have a listen here
17:52 you're both as bad as each other for wrestling wrestlers stop wrestling now
18:08 Scarfe trying to catch him cold coming in there Esamen good work again from the challenger Scarfe
18:15 when he boxes at range like this and lets the punches go with that bit of distance between
18:19 them it's awkward for Esamen and it's when he's loose and it's not he's not just letting him go
18:23 at distance he's letting him go nice and loose that's what's causing Echo the problems it's
18:28 the movement that's doing him as much as the distance from the length it's a close fight
18:33 to this point moving towards the halfway stage of the fifth round Esamen looking to get Scarfe
18:39 on the ropes and he gets close this is where he does his best work he's a mix up his work
18:46 it's a head and body when he gets in close range like that Esamen
18:49 when he gets ugly like that seems to favor the champion or the champion he's got an elbow he's
18:55 got a shoulder he's got two fists and he's all of them as a great elbow went in there from Scarfe
19:00 absolutely that was like the WWE when that was that was a beauty was it on the blind side of
19:07 Howard Foster oh I doubt everyone else saw it yeah it was right above our commentary position
19:11 that's why we were there Steve Bunch was leaning backwards at one point final minute of the fifth
19:18 no love lost in there between two men determined to come out on top in this one tonight they've
19:22 got City Pride on the line as well and they're fighting like an a city pride and be a clash of
19:29 stars and there's no clash of stars but it's gelling which is really good thank you for a good fight
19:42 Esamen landed with a couple of jabs then when he gets in close like this Scarfe's keen to try and
19:50 tie him up Esamen wants to wrestle throw punches on the inside throw Scarfe around and he lands a
19:59 couple in there they went back to the body fighting Scarfe's corner this final few seconds
20:04 of the fifth round Esamen looking to finish the round strongly and he's doing the right thing
20:08 echo he's pushing him back with a jab rather than walking and being picked up hard round that hard round
20:23 [Music]
20:38 bye-bye cough later chest congestion hello 12 hours of relief 12 hours not coughing hashtag
20:45 still not coughing mucin xdm gives you 12 hours of relief from chest congestion and any type of
20:49 cough day or night mucin xd where it's turning into a good one between echo esamen and harry
20:57 scarf that's where it got all untidy and scarf ended up on the canvas
21:00 i think this is the forearm that you were speaking about i think we saw leonel messi
21:08 throw one of those in the wing that we did that was a beautiful shot because what it does scarves
21:11 he pushes he pushes echoes head back with his head then brings the left the left elbow in the play
21:18 sixth round of 12
21:19 esamen the champion of the purple black trunks the harry scarf of darby
21:26 scarfy by steve bunce's card lost the first couple of rounds but he's come on strong in the last three
21:35 esamen looking to apply the pressure he's the pressure fighter in there he wants it nice and
21:43 close he wants it nice and tight he wants to be stood right in front of the challenger and if he
21:48 can throw the jab a couple of jabs they're like distraction jabs a word on favorites and it pushes
21:53 harry staff back how he can't do anything and then he gets close and he lets his hands go from close
21:57 he's more compact isn't he esamen it's easier to get the punches away when they're in close those
22:01 big long levers of scarf gives a bit of room to work in and that's why clifton was saying to him
22:06 just take a step back and throw shots over the top when it's closed you can't compete with with him
22:11 close echoes too compact scarf landing the uppercut as esamen came in
22:17 for all the bravado in the build-up i certainly think it took scarf a couple of rounds to get a
22:29 bit of self-belief into him i do too but i think also in those first couple of rounds echo was a
22:34 bit of a buzzsaw and clifton for all of his bravado in the corner he would have said listen
22:38 don't go too crazy in the first two rounds just breathe into this slowly halfway through the sixth
22:47 wild swing from scarf easily spotted by esamen esamen lands a good short sharp left hook in
23:00 there just fake to throw the right then through that short sharp left that scarf didn't see
23:04 coming and he made him a start mistake scarf he switched it to orthodox left his feet in
23:08 the position so therefore he was closer and that's right connected
23:11 scarf popping out the chat he's the man with the reach advantage the taller man in there
23:17 let your scarf feelings a little bit or is he just he just slowed it down intentionally to
23:24 crab a breather i think that's a good good right hand from scarf that might be your answer
23:29 i think it's going to be in his mind that he's got to pace himself against there's a look because he
23:33 knows about his engine i mean that's not a cliche based on the nickname that he's going to fight at
23:37 this pace in round 12 just missed with that whipping uppercut there scarf as esamen came in
23:47 but the intention was there and it's the right intention it's the perfect shot was echo as echo
23:51 lunges forward leading with his chin
23:53 so
24:01 final 10 seconds in another competitive round round six scarf with a long right hand
24:09 esamen nowhere to escape but he's back to the rope scarf again going long there's the bell
24:14 and a good strong finish to the round again from harry scarf i'm not sure if those last two right
24:19 hands didn't hurt or stand there
24:23 wait he's wide open the right hand you're pissing about with it man throw the thing man
24:28 understand come on double jab we're working on this come on you want to win this fight
24:34 because at the minute it looks like you let me slip at the minute understand
24:38 come on come on listen listen listen to what i'm trying to say to you yeah listen we've got to go
24:45 with this now we're gonna step it up again come on come on halfway halfway all right what i'm
24:50 saying to you is let's not leave it so so we need let's have a look at the action towards the end
24:55 of the round those two long punches the scarf was able to land the first was a right then that left
24:59 that just grazed esamen's chin 10 seconds
25:02 he's doing well scarf to close that gap down the close that ground and he's basically stopping
25:11 that's the way that steve bunce has it scarf leading by two points that's unofficial of course
25:17 at this stage clifton mitchell between rounds is urging his man to throw the right hand double jab
25:23 throw the right hand and he was quite aggressive in the message he was getting across he said look
25:28 we're going to put our foot down at this point go for it you know we've worked with him as soon
25:32 we've worked on this now let your hands go let them go you know what you've got to do and it is
25:36 he put if he pushes echo back with the left and two rights echo is trapped he can't work
25:41 it's a fascinating fight another one on this stack card in manchester
25:48 this evening see solomon dacus against michael wedger after this still got liam davis in the
25:55 ring nick ball against isaac dogbate and it's all finished off tonight by denzel bentley fighting
26:01 against dayton heaney but this is another good one round 7 and 12 for the british commonwealth
26:06 and ivf european titles between echo essamon and harry scarf i think at this stage the owner
26:18 series on esamon to just play his way back in a little bit land a few more punches maybe raise
26:24 his tempo a bit more you know maybe echo needs to do what he did in a couple of earlier rounds
26:27 jab his way in jab his way in take a sec and then let his hands go at the moment he's letting his
26:31 hands go and he's allowing himself to be picked off by harry scarf he's allowing the distance to
26:36 be there for scarf to work in and he can't give scarf that distance all the way through the fight
26:41 we've been talking about how scarf has to keep him at that distance and now we need to talk about
26:46 echo has to close the distance scarf looking confident in there he's up on his toes the
26:53 distance is suiting him there's the right uppercut that went arrowing through the guard of esamon
26:58 looks a good round this for scarf who kicks off the champion again scarf starting to fancy and
27:04 fletch that right hand that left hook those are shots that a very confident boxer throws
27:09 what a guy who's against it and under pressure minutes ago in the seventh good round to this point
27:14 for the challenger from derby harry scarf
27:16 needs to get close he needs to get inside those long levers of scarf he's got to find a way to
27:35 close the distance which he was able to do in rounds one round two to that point those scarves
27:40 just widen the distance and he's working behind that jab and letting those whippy punches go
27:45 scarf's mobility as well that's causing echo some problems is when he's going back he's taking that
27:50 walk he's got his hands down he's moving left to right echo's not sure where to concentrate
27:55 his attack scarf fighting a very smart fight it's going to be a stamina test though because
28:00 they're throwing plenty of punches between them in there
28:12 well there's the bell another good one so later on the card tonight we'll see
28:16 liam davis in action and he's backstage with becky ives
28:22 hey
28:29 so
28:54 got a great smile hasn't he got a lovely way about him liam davis but he's an assassin when
28:58 he gets in the ring you know what he's even more ruthless in the ring than you think he is when you
29:03 watch him up close you see he means every punch he throws that's what he's doing you in the first
29:08 or beating your own points the second the builder he fancies an early night tonight so we'll see
29:12 whether he can deliver that this one looks like it might go long between echo esseman and harry
29:20 scarf into the eighth of 12.
29:26 landing a left hand at the start of the round and then just falling short with that right hook
29:30 echo still fighting like a man who believes he can pull out who believes he can find a punch or
29:37 believes his opponent will crumble there's no panic in his work he's still fighting like a champion
29:43 who knows he's got a few rounds to go estimates ranked number four by the ibs hoping to be
29:50 closing in on a world title challenge but for those dreams to become reality he's got to find
29:54 a way to win this one tonight he joined kirkland lang and del brian as nottingham boxers to win the
29:59 lonsdale belt outright as british welterweight champion but scottish work cuts out here tonight
30:04 against a very determined opponent with a lot of confidence in there in harry scarf confidence
30:10 that seems to grow with every round he gets through and when scarf lets his hands go from
30:14 distance from a low position holding his hands low and lets those fluid punches go echo's got
30:18 no answer to that there's no answer whatsoever
30:28 he's kind of worked by yes but he seems to do his work like that when he's close enough
30:44 but scarf them with the power to get him away and out of range again with a solid shot scarf
30:50 matched him there in close and then forced him back with two other shots that was good work
30:54 from scarf we haven't seen that we haven't seen that yet there was a theory coming in that the
31:01 awkwardness of scarf might be a problem he's known as a bit of a spoiler that's not necessarily
31:07 always a negative thing but the way he does go about it in there is he's posing problems for
31:12 echo esamen but at the moment he's finding it difficult to solve it's the mobility that's
31:17 causing echo all the problems that it's not having a man in front of you whether he's orthodox or
31:22 southpaw it's not having a man in front of you is doing anything normal everything that he's
31:26 doing scarf is coming from left or right and it's backed up by mobility and movement
31:40 so the final 30 seconds of round number eight quite around this one
31:51 maybe one of them can just nick it towards the end
31:55 he hit him there scarf with two different combinations from two different sides of the
32:05 ring with two shots on this side turned around here with the same two shots on the other side
32:10 i saw scarf's having a blinder i saw the look on your face and thought i better let you explain it
32:15 because that was just quite simply echo was stuck waiting to let throw a shot he hit him twice echo
32:20 still waited he turned 180 degrees and hit him with the same two shots that's going some that's
32:26 them again there we go here it comes turned around and take that from that side 180 degrees
32:34 one and a half seconds two right hands that's going some fletch
32:44 win this next round got to win this next round yeah win it well there's the british middleweight
32:51 champion densel bentley arriving for work in manchester tonight up against them i'm from
32:57 stoke-on-trent nathan heaney bentley was so impressive in a challenge for the world title
33:04 a couple of fights ago and he's really looking to put the accelerator pedal down to make the
33:09 most of his career that's going to be some atmosphere tonight when those two make their
33:14 way to the ring so four to go in this one between the champion echo esamen and his challenger tonight
33:25 harry scarf nice little combination right at the start of the round there from esamen that just had
33:30 scarf's head wobbling from side to side ecumen does send a good 30 or 40 seconds i think he's
33:36 just letting it letting it slide after that i could be wrong clifton mitchell in the corner
33:41 is either the biggest honestly is either the biggest conjurer ever okay or he generally
33:46 thinks that his man's losing we've got to win this round he said well hey ho to be fair to
33:53 harry scarf when he tells him that he tends to come out and respond so cliff that's what that's
33:57 what it is yeah maybe there's a bit of kinology to make sure that his man doesn't take his foot
34:02 off the gas pedal because as we've all said if you follow echo esamen's career he fights at a
34:08 relentless pace from start to finish and he'll still be bouncing around and throwing a lot of
34:12 shots in the 11th round and the 12th round and i think clifton's just making sure that his man's
34:17 got a bit of a cushion maybe going into that stage of the fight well i think he has got a push you
34:21 know i really do i mean sure maybe one or two of those rounds are a bit closer but i've got scarf
34:25 a good few rounds up don't forget it's the first time that scarf's been in the 12 rounder
34:32 tonight so there is that element of the unknown in the later stages of this one but he's done
34:38 really well to this point although this has been a better round for us and when he's been closer
34:42 and he's been letting his hands go a lot more than he was so is that echo putting extra pressure on
34:47 or is it scarf having a breather i've got a feeling it's echo putting extra pressure on
34:51 i really have if that is the case then it's another little twist in the plot potentially
34:55 and another little issue for harry scarf to solve as we go into the echo rounds perhaps the echo rounds
35:02 it's better for less than just slipping that jab and then when he does slip it get inside
35:20 that long reach and start to go to work and he's not done a lot of that he's not done a lot he's
35:24 been eating the jab eating the big loose right hand to the big loop left left hand spank from
35:28 the southpaw stance that was good he even parried the jab and then countered just missing with that
35:35 long right hand that came in with a bit of power that just whistled past the chin of scarf from
35:39 estimate they felt that on the outskirts of manchester flex they really did i can tell you
35:48 and a much better round this though from esamen the kind of rounds that we saw very early in the
35:52 fight when he started off at a nice pace nice and sharp nice and accurate before scarf started
35:58 to take over but this has been more like it from esamen in the night
36:02 is this an esamen round steve this is an esamen round
36:16 yes i'm in indeed that's better
36:22 beautiful echo yeah now you show me the champion round 10 coming this is what show you why you've
36:30 got these belts levels yeah smile at them when you and me yeah show you why you got these belts
36:36 yeah enjoy it yeah yeah come here and enjoy the enjoyment about it yeah yeah man training's a hard
36:44 work this is the easy work yeah enjoy this yeah be good stay focused yeah snap it is right snap it
36:53 around take snap it yeah steve you could almost sense a bit of relief in the corner when they sat
36:58 him down and said that's more like him that's what we want to see when he sat down they're
37:03 celebrating there was an interesting line i think from barrington brown and from the outside on
37:07 loves he said smile let him enjoy it nice line that's the way steve's got it and there is a bit
37:15 of work for echo esamen to do based on the way that buncey's scoring the fight to this point
37:20 but they also said this is why you're the champion these are your rounds this tends to be where
37:26 esamen does his best work and this is a real test of any man he's in there with because he's got the
37:31 the stamina to finish strongly in situations like this we saw it against chris congo where
37:36 he'd got to come from behind to get that majority victory and he was able to do it too strong for
37:40 congo in the end and we've seen it before when echoes come on strong and it must be really
37:46 soul destroying for the opponents even if you've got a man three or four rounds up going into
37:51 these last four you know echo is coming this is his four round fight and that's what we're in the
37:57 we're in the first round here but we're in the second round rather of the four round fight yeah
38:02 this really is where scarf's going to find out what he's made of this is going to be a real test
38:06 of scarf stamina that's a great shot though what a right hand from scarf stopped esamen in his
38:12 tracks in fairness to the champion he took it well didn't phase him but it stopped it was a
38:16 great shot but then he completely dominated and threw scarf off him
38:28 that's a lot of the left hook in there up on his toes
38:31 scarf still seems like he's got plenty in him at this stage halfway through the 10th
38:41 it's a better rhythm about esamen though than what's in the previous round we're seeing it
38:48 again here he's back to the boxing back to what he does well finding ways to get inside the long
38:53 reach and then working when he gets in there but still getting caught still getting caught it's
38:56 been a magnificent performance in scarf all the way through the fight i think scarf's fought tonight
39:02 better than i imagined him to fight i thought there might be a lot of ragged rounds he's kept
39:06 his composure he's kept his skill set and echo as you say he's come on in this round the last
39:10 round in this round but scarf still there sticking to it Glenn.
39:13 The first fight we saw tonight that brilliant scrap between Zach Miller and Nathaniel Collins
39:23 was tight on the card it was a majority decision in the previous fight between Emma Cozine and
39:29 Hannah Rankin and this one could be tight as well between Echo Esamen and Harry Scarf just when you
39:35 feel that Esamen might be taking over scarf finds a punch from somewhere Steve. It's a good fight
39:40 this I mean this is a really competitive fight but more than that it's a brilliant series of
39:46 tactics being played out by both fighters from both corners. Esamen up on his toes looking to
39:57 dance around the ring and then pick his time to attack scarf with the left hand Esamen with a
40:02 good right through the guard.
40:05 It's Echo's movement that's caused scarf the problem in the last minute or so of that round.
40:22 We're set Fletch, we're poised.
40:29 You need a better round come on you've got to win these two rounds.
40:33 You don't win these two rounds you don't win this f****** fight I'm telling you that now.
40:35 You understand you're letting him f****** back in his thing you understand. Listen to me
40:39 win this next f****** round listen to me listen to me right there and win this f****** round yeah.
40:45 Come on.
40:46 A rally level coming championship round yeah.
40:49 Two to go that's all you got.
40:53 It's gonna be like a giraffe here you don't know what to do it's gonna be like a giraffe.
40:57 Clifton Mitchell still telling Harry Scarf with a bit of industrial language which we apologize for
41:02 that he thinks he needs to win the last two rounds.
41:05 The Esamen corner is these are the championship rounds this is where you do your work.
41:10 I mean there's concern in both corners Steve's got Harry Scarf two points ahead
41:15 and I can tell you Richie Woodall seeing exactly the same as you.
41:18 It's always good to know the King of Telford and myself won the same prize.
41:24 How about Inframpton is he still awake?
41:28 I can't answer that so this is round 11.
41:34 And Harry Scarf's been sent out to win the last two rounds whether that's just a ploy
41:41 from Clifton Mitchell to make sure that he keeps the work rate high.
41:44 Whether it's to put the fear of God into him at this stage your scorecard would indicate that's
41:49 not the case and your scorecard tells us Esamen needs two big rounds and he's caught there the
41:54 champion by Scarf. And what Scarf can't do though is go too wild. He's in front of
42:01 Mark Ritz through calculated sensible boxing not through going being reckless and wild.
42:06 But he's being told by the corner Steve that he's behind.
42:09 I think that's slightly dangerous because that means that means he could just go too wild get
42:13 caught get picked off. Well he's gone toe to toe here maybe if your scorecard's right he doesn't
42:17 need to. It's unofficial we support that much. Absolutely very unofficial easy.
42:23 Minute gone in round 11. We thought this was going to be a good night for boxing it's turning
42:31 out that way. Esamen got a body shot in there that just made Scarf take a breath.
42:35 And he's got another shot to the body and an echo smile off all the amateur experience all those
42:42 years on the GBC for traveling the world fighting in 30 different countries. If he senses he's
42:47 hurting to the body he's going to stick to the body flex. We would also make the point as well
42:51 that some of the rounds that Steve scored in Scarf's favor were very close and they could
42:56 have been scored the other way by the judges. Three judges for this one Steve Gray, Victor Loughlin
43:01 and Kevin Parker.
43:08 That Scarf hit his best using long reach using a bit of mobility not going straight forward
43:13 and letting his hands go like a reckless lunatic. I think one thing that's worth pointing out at
43:19 this stage there's been no issue whatsoever with Scarf's stamina so maybe those four minute spa
43:24 rounds have come in handy because he's up against a man who always finishes a fight strongly and
43:30 he's still looking like he's qualified in there Harry Scarf. Scarf has been as relentless as we
43:40 expected echo to be and that's been a slight shock but it's also been brilliant to watch.
43:44 Inside the final 30 seconds of the penultimate round two men giving absolutely everything in
43:58 there so much on the line for both of them a career changing night potentially
44:04 for Harry Scarf and a fight that Esselman has to win if he wants to fight for a world title
44:08 anytime soon. Absolutely echo wants to get his name on the list for a big party there
44:13 against the champion. Scarf wants to change his life by becoming the British champion.
44:17 Well there's the belt and he celebrates a little bit as he walks back to the corner
44:28 Harry Scarf I think he knows he can sit down and look Clifton Mitchell in the eye and say I did
44:32 what you asked me to do. He what he asked is whether you get the first two and a half two minutes to echo.
44:36 See I think this is fascinating Steve because you and Richie Wood all have got Harry Scarf ahead
44:57 Clifton Mitchell in Scarf's corner is telling him he's behind that he's got to win the last two
45:01 that's the way that you're seeing it and in the Esselman corner they're telling him he's got the
45:05 lead I mean this is fascinating. You know what's really interesting looking at my scores there
45:11 is I've scored them in lumps it's not been one man wins one man loses one man wins one man
45:16 loses it's been it's been areas when I've shaded it to one fighter. Well it might come down to three
45:21 minutes for the British Commonwealth and IBF European titles between the champion Echo Esselman
45:28 and the challenger Harry Scarf maybe it's close enough that whoever wins this one wins the fight
45:34 we will soon find out Scarf looking to get on the front foot and land shots early he's looking to
45:39 make the brightest stars in the round. Scarf there with two good left jabs on a good right cross
45:45 absolutely he's doing what he was asked to do by his corner Echo he's smiling but no good if you
45:49 get hit with lefts and rights. I can't see how anybody can watch this fight and think that one
46:07 of them is a clear winner even if you've gone a couple of rounds up like I think I have he's not
46:12 a clear winner this has been grueling hard competitive smart clever and brilliant to watch
46:17 from the fourth field. Two minutes to go both of them so tired in there but both of them showing
46:24 tremendous conditioning for Scarf to match the pace of Esselman the way he has tonight in his
46:32 first 12 rounder it's quite a feat it's quite a feat and he's pushing and putting the pressure
46:37 on in this the last round and that's pressure not just his punches he's physically he's physically
46:42 wrestling a lot with Ekelman and that's a hard task. Halfway through the final round
46:51 both of them falling short with jabs Esselman looking to land on the inside
47:01 might just have got an overhand right through onto the chin of Scarf there
47:08 in a round like this one that's relatively untidy the better punches like that might just tick it
47:14 for you. He can win a round with a right hand like Scarf landed there. Absolutely and the
47:19 corner to A9 leapt into the air when he landed that shot inside the final minute which way is
47:27 it going to go? Scarf winning the exchange he landed the last one on the way out then he sneaks
47:33 it up a cut through might just be nicking this last round Harry Scarf. Just nicking the last round Harry
47:38 Scarf with a bit of pressure Ekel showing signs that he's finally finally after so many fights
47:43 he's tiring in the 12th round. Scarf continues to throw Esselman looking for a punch that can turn
47:50 around his way inside the final 30 seconds everything on the line for the two of them
47:55 Scarf looks the stronger man in there with the ministry. Yeah he's had a really good run from
48:02 the start of this round Ekel is suddenly really tired really drained understandable flinch.
48:07 There won't be a stoppage final 10 seconds the Scarf corner celebrating to my right they
48:16 seem to sense that their man's done enough there's the final battle both of them celebrate
48:22 both think they've won it Clifton Mitchell raises his man high into the air and we will go to the
48:29 judges Steve Gray, Victor Loughland and Kevin Parker to tell us who's won this fight 12 good
48:35 rounds for the British, Commonwealth and IVF European title I think Steve you've given it
48:41 to Harry Scarf. I've got Harry Scarf a winner there and I don't want it to be wide I think
48:45 Harry Scarf has won that I don't I don't want it to be I don't mind if it goes by a split decision
48:50 to Ekel I just don't want it to be wide we just had a bad decision bad score in the previous fight
48:57 and I ate two in rounds which was never that that's a hard tight fight. Steve be honest that's
49:02 why you've got it 1-1-5, 1-1-3 for Harry Scarf but was he better than you were expecting? Much
49:07 better much better much better than I expected it was the mobility in those middle four or five
49:12 rounds that threw Ekel Esselman he couldn't quite he couldn't just move forward step forward and
49:17 let his shots go when he did that he was picked up picked up with a variety of loose shots great
49:22 corner work by Clinton Mitchell when he was talking all the way through the fight that's
49:27 that was a good I mean it's a terrific fight. There's a lot of tension in there as you can
49:33 imagine because he's been very tense and fractious in the build-up and now we're waiting for the
49:38 judges scores to be collected Thomas Treiber he's going to tell us who's won it when he gets those
49:43 all-important scorecards but you can imagine what it feels like in there based on how tense it was
49:49 at the weigh-in yesterday some of the things that have been said by both camps that they're still
49:53 having their say with each other in there probably both making it a case for why they've won the fight
49:57 and all we can do is wait. All we can do is wait I've got a feeling knowing both camps like I do
50:06 that they both genuinely believe they've won I think they both genuinely believe they won but
50:12 I also think they both genuinely believe as we heard at 11.12 that it's tight. Steve okay let's find out
50:17 who's won it Thomas Treiber. Ladies and gentlemen after 12 rounds of boxing we go to the judges
50:29 scorecards judge Steve Gray scores it 116 to 113. Judge Victor Laughlin scores it 117 to 112
50:40 and judge Kevin Parker scores it 115 to 113 all in favor of your winner by unanimous decision
50:50 a new British Commonwealth and IBF European World Tourweight Champion
51:01 Horrible Harry Scott. Cue the celebrations and just look at their faces it's the biggest win
51:12 and the biggest night of Harry Scott's career he's British and Commonwealth World Tourweight Champion
51:19 and he's taken the IBF European title back to Derby with him as well echo estimate losers for
51:25 the first time as a professional but this night belongs to the new champion. It does belong to
51:30 the new champion and one of those scores Kevin Parker's identical to mine he deserved he deserved
51:36 the victory he deserved the win if Echo had got it it wouldn't have been a complaint. I said to you
51:42 Fletch not only will we see everything tonight we'll see an underdog win of an unbelievable
51:47 performance he boxed out of his skin. Let's hear the boxing strikes again Harry Scott is the new
