00:00Okay lads, obey my commands. In the event of a knockdown, the fighter standing will go to the
00:07furniture corner and stay there. Protect yourself at all times, touch gloves.
00:11Bob Williams is the referee and young Owen Cooper, at the age of 23, facing across the
00:23ring, Eko Esoman, now 35. It must seem slightly surreal to Eko Esoman all this.
00:30He was first into the ring, he's on the other side of the card. Suddenly the
00:35opponent, a successful career behind him, but he's got to show that there's
00:41something in front of him now, Esoman. By his own estimation, a really poor
00:46performance against Harry Scarfe and what a price he paid for it. The prized
00:50British and Commonwealth titles sacrificed and now he's got to start all
00:54over again and there's a whole heap of young men just waiting to get stuck into
00:59a fighter like Esoman and at the front of the queue, deservingly Richie, is Owen Cooper.
01:04He has the youth, he has the power, he's got an explosive energy about him and
01:09he's extremely confident that this could be the moment where he establishes
01:14himself. What's your view going into it? Well for Owen Cooper, his last contest
01:18was probably his best win against Ethan James. They were friends and Ethan James
01:22was really fancied for the contest, but he just blew him away, didn't he? Owen Cooper,
01:26it was a tremendous result for him, so he's going into this one on his best
01:30career win and Eko Esoman, as you said, he's faded a little bit, 35 years of age,
01:35very experienced Paul, you know, he had four successful defenses of his
01:39British title, he's known as the engine because of his work rate, so this
01:43promises to be a cracker, it really does, just style-wise.
01:48I don't think fitness has ever been a problem, freshness at this stage in his
01:53career, that may have been the issue for Esoman, but he's a very smart man out of
01:58the ring and I know he's done a lot of thinking about why it went wrong and
02:02I've just had a little eye on him, Richie, for the last 24 hours here in
02:05Birmingham. He has had the mask on, that is to say, totally focused, he's not been
02:11talking to people, he's been waiting for that first belt, it's an early start on a
02:15big night for him also, there's another change, Richie, as you know, as a
02:18championship fighter, the day is different, but the hour could not come
02:21swiftly enough today for Esoman to get back to work and he's looking nice and
02:25sharp here early on and really from Cooper's point of view, things might
02:28happen against a championship fighter, Richie, a little bit more quickly tonight
02:32than previously in his career. Yeah, absolutely, and style-wise Paul, they're
02:36both fairly good at short and mid-range, see Esoman there with a lovely right
02:40hand to the body, but also then you see Cooper does his best work on the inside
02:45and at mid-range also, so two similar styles actually, but it's got to be a
02:50classic case of landing the shots, then moving the head, because you're in
02:53punching range, anything short to mid, you're there to be hit, so you've got to
02:57be clever when you're boxing like that, it's got to be two or three shots maximum,
03:01then a little bit of head movements and then go again, let's see who can adapt to
03:05that sort of style. The engine setting the pace, but we know how self-confident, with good reason
03:12young Mr. Cooper is, and he's holding his horses if you like, holding the center of
03:17the ring where possible, not rushing into any silly traps that Esoman is trying to
03:21set for him as a wily old-timer, but it shapes to be a good one here in our
03:31second live fight on TNT sports.
04:02Oh, is that the double cheeseburger save a meal do from McDonald's, only £4.79?
04:17Owen Cooper nice and composed, not used to life at this rarified level, even in British terms, but of course at his age he's in time to be very ambitious and looking
04:30perhaps longer term if he gets through this against Echo Esoman at a higher level again.
04:38Esoman has worn the badge of honour that is the British title for so long and with such pride.
04:45Born in Botswana, he came to England as a youngster with his father who was studying at Nottingham University, built his career in Nottingham, he's proud of all of that.
04:56I'm not going to say he's the most exciting welterweight even from the city of Nottingham,
04:59if you think about Duaid Khaliq years ago Richie, but what a great servant he has been and he's in no mood to be written out the plot and he started in that fashion I think.
05:08He started this second round really well here, Echo Esoman, switching the attack body to head, head to body, you know he's got that nickname the engine as I said before and he's really shown it here,
05:19he stepped on the gas and he's gone through the gears early on in this round, I think just to establish getting a lead in the round.
05:24I thought he'd probably just nicked the first round to be quite honest in terms of the quality of the punching, but he certainly started the first minute of this round very well indeed.
05:35Owen Cooper has got this into his corner, his corner was saying that they want to see a little bit more head movement, we spoke about that also,
05:42like I say when you're in punching range it's okay hitting the target but you've got to avoid punches as well and that's what his corner wants.
05:55I must say even as a novice I really like the look of this kid, he's got a bit of attitude to go with the obvious skills.
06:04There's been a certain degree of confidence behind Owen Cooper through the first stages of his career, remember it's only his 11th pro fight tonight, 21st of Esoman's career.
06:16That was a super right uppercut there from Esoman on the inside, belting shot and a right hand over the top as well.
06:23Cooper started just to come back into it this second minute of this round though Paul, he's boxing a little bit better but there, that uppercut was a cracking shot from Esoman.
06:35Boxing in his family bloodline of course, Cooper his father was a pro, Steve in the early 2000s.
06:44As Richie's rightly said he is settling for me, Cooper in this second round.
06:50Yes, starting to box a little bit better now, the odd feint with the front foot, he's turning that jab sometimes into a hook as he's coming forward, little screw shot there as he's also coming forward.
07:00It's a little bit of variation now, just finding his range better Owen Cooper.
07:05Esoman trying to find it downstairs with that little snappy right hook underneath, Cooper saw it coming.
07:14Three scoring judges tonight including Britain's Michael Alexander but two from Germany in Frank Maas and Sven Griefer and it shapes to be a compelling contest, two rounds, two wins.
07:27Frank Maas and Sven Griefer and it shapes to be a compelling contest, two rounds in.
07:38Good stuff here, let's hand you over straight away now to Danny Jamieson backstage.
07:44Ezra the belt you're fighting for tonight was your phone screensaver for so long, how does it feel now that it could be only moments away?
07:51Incredible man, it will be moments away and then I can replace that screensaver for the real belt, the real deal with me holding it as well.
07:58You talked about tonight being an opportunity to earn your stripes, how big an opportunity is this for you?
08:03It's humongous man, this is life changing to me, this is my world title fight, this is what I see it as.
08:07I've put everything into it, I can't do any more and now I get to enjoy it man, like you said you came in here today, the vibes are good in here, the vibes are great because we're on to greatness.
08:17Ezra, wish you the best of luck.
08:18Thank you, I appreciate it.
08:48It's been a little bit of a struggle, it's been a little bit of a struggle, it's been a little bit of a struggle, it's been a little bit of a struggle, it's been a little bit of a struggle, it's been a little bit of a struggle, it's been a little bit of a struggle, it's been a little bit of a struggle, it's been a little bit of a struggle, it's been a little bit of a struggle, it's been a little bit of a struggle, it's been a little bit of a struggle, it's been a little bit of a struggle, it's been a little bit of a struggle, it's been a little bit of a struggle, it's been a little bit of a struggle, it's been a little bit of a struggle, it's been a little bit of a struggle, it's been a little bit of a struggle, it's been a little bit of a struggle, it's been a little bit of a struggle, it's been a little bit of a struggle, it
09:18it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle
09:48it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle
10:18it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle
10:48it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle, it's been a struggle
11:18it's quite short isn't he at five eight cooper
11:23again the early impressions that i had of him is that he was happy in his own skin as a boxer
11:28that's to say he knew the style he was trying to really uh perfect a little no look as a man
11:36which kind of tells us that the pressures come on a little bit more really
11:39good work from cooper in that third round
11:41we are professional tornado wranglers put your harness on i'm doing it i don't know a tornado
11:47for god's sake they're combining
11:56do you ever see anything like this i like this hold on hold on
12:03twisters back there ben all right i feel it check it out
12:08back there ben all right i feel it chase it do not try this at home in cinemas now
12:25okay
12:28come on
12:32that little uh it's around sequence started with malcolm melvin
12:36complimenting his man on how well he did in that third round and owen cooper is beginning
12:40to settle into the job at this elevated level for him then against echo s o man
12:45the former british long reigning british champion
12:50and indeed commonwealth title holder as well for good measure and along the way richie
12:55he couldn't quite take the step into proper world class he certainly earned a high ranking
13:00so there's a a great deal in the knowledge back that cooper is delving into here
13:07yeah and it's turning into a cracking contest as we expected for some good work there from smn
13:12but cooper come back and like i say i think when smn ups the pace then it gives owen cooper more
13:20problems to try and sort out and now quality work from both boxes in this mid-range
13:39trying to underline to cooper that boxing at this level is a little bit different
13:44oh yeah and he's keep you doing well here estimate i think that cooper there just made
13:49that mistake of just staying on those ropes a little bit too long there paul
13:52inviting the pressure and smn really took the contest to him
13:59only seven stoppage wins for smn but that doesn't mean he cannot punch properly and he has been
14:06punching properly but again cooper the younger man the unbeaten man the one full of self-confidence
14:14now getting back in his rhythm reclaiming the center of the ring he took one or two big shots
14:21but he wears them well yeah and cooper again getting into the rhythm isn't he as he's coming
14:27forward he had little faint with the front foot he's bobbing and weaving waiting for smn to throw
14:32a shot so he can counter on the front foot so it's good boxing from cooper again he's starting
14:39to box his type of fight paul coming forward moving that head
14:47i think the corner like a shot back to the body but esamen took most of the
14:51sting out of it but there's certainly been a change in the plot in the second half of this round
14:59and with the left again cooper has a great right hand off the other side
15:03with esamen still thinking about the first shot
15:09good and through the middle this time yeah short little left uppercut wasn't it
15:18followed up with the right hand and again side to side bobbing and weaving there's that faint
15:23with the front foot i love that ball that's a nice bit of skill there from own cooper terrific
15:29fight isn't it and what i love most about cooper richie the first shot as the idea was right there
15:34the first shot is always thrown with bad intentions
15:41remember me
16:04okay
16:18that's about early in that round richie cooper late in it but how are the uh
16:22judges going to decide it i wonder yeah we shall see good work this was from esamen early on in
16:27the round but cooper certainly finished the last minute and a half he was in control i've got it
16:32even now paul i think cooper just edged back into it last couple of rounds
16:44cooper has been watching the big names in this welterweight division for the last couple of
16:49years perhaps asking when my time comes and really tried to show i belong because esamen
16:56standing in british terms demoted by the defeat to harry scarf
17:03but there doesn't seem to me to be a lot between some of these guys in the top 10
17:07trooper looks right at home in that level of company
17:13might be the start of something big tonight on a bigger audience
17:16live on tnt sports on a big show like this i know it's not his first taste of it
17:20but certainly in terms of the test it's by far his biggest test
17:24as esamen tries to pin him on the ranks as he did a couple of rounds ago this time it's in the
17:29esamen corner doesn't look to be any panic from cooper i must say terrific right up a good there
17:35from esamen on the inside and again he's gambling here esamen because he's putting a lot of work a
17:40lot of energy he's spending a lot of energy here paul trying to literally catch cooper with a big
17:46shot it's all esamen at the moment this was similar to the previous round remember and then
17:52cooper came back that last minute and a half but nevertheless esamen really going for it
17:57and gambling a little bit here because he's putting a lot into it
18:03gotta know mitchell is still a long way to go even though this is 10 rounds and he's well
18:07used to doing 12 of course these are hard rounds yeah that's also a factor isn't it
18:12and cooper again emerges with credit he never got any panic there no signal of distress
18:18back to the center of the ring and he goes back about his own business
18:24quite a belief right hand over the top this time we've got so many shots hasn't he
18:28a lot of variety yeah lovely one two there from cooper boxing at range and that's what i think
18:33esamen has got to do occasionally paul use that jab and try and stifle that attack from cooper
18:38as he comes forward but that's a big shot here comes cooper not many times in his career that
18:46esamen has looked likely to be knocked down or out but not sure how well he took that
18:54sequence the fusillade there from erin cooper
18:59so similar pattern to the last round paul isn't it esamen strong early on in the last minute and
19:04half or so and cooper starting to come on strong again and catching esamen with the eye catching
19:10and after the right hand this time they're all heavy shots as well and again just a sense that
19:16esamen's foot slipped the legs just began to do a little bit of a dance
19:30but as fit as he is he has recovered from that that little question mark has passed
19:34that there might be others to follow
19:50how you feeling good listen enjoy this yes enjoy this but don't don't
19:56good work there lovely straight one two from cooper that was excellent towards the end of
20:01the round right hand over the top so these are the eye-catching shots from cooper esamen remember
20:06did a lot of good work early on in the round but towards the end cooper catching the judges eyes
20:11with some cracking punches like those
20:20isn't he malcolm melvin anything mid-range his trademark was i never give a man an easy night
20:26cooper's got that in him as well another thing i like about him richie yeah i remember malcolm
20:31melvin uh malcolm melvin when he boxed for birmingham city amateur boxing club years ago as
20:35an amateur yeah indeed under franco sullivan he was an absolutely fantastic trainer and he still is
20:45bob williams calls a halt
20:50sharp a little bit of water in the esamen corner
20:55and on we go from the center of the ring esamen has been winning the first minutes
21:02in some of these rounds
21:07heads toward the halfway point we're at it now actually then cooper will take a great deal of
21:12self-confidence from the fact that he's not being panicked he's not being rushed into his work
21:16particularly he's taken everything that esamen has thrown at him and he's lived with the pace
21:22that esamen has tried to set it's a fight that's swinging this way than that isn't it you see esamen
21:28occasionally on that front foot going forward and then as the round goes on keeping it seems to
21:34follow the same pattern of getting into a rhythm and then really pushing on and probably catches
21:38the judges eyes towards the end of the round that may be nicking the rounds ball but there's not a
21:43lot in it there really isn't i think i've got it three rounds to two now for owen cooper but that
21:49could be the other way as well so it's a close fight this richie he seems to me cooper to be a
21:55very tricky customer even if he's still relatively useful remember only his 11th pro fight tonight
22:05you can have 35 pro fights but you don't fight too many kids like him do you style-wise no you
22:10don't and you know he's got a good work rate and i like his general movement owing to the side to
22:17side he's thinking about his defense he's thinking about um avoiding shots as well as scoring and
22:23that's what boxing's all about no not just landing shots but obviously defending and
22:29getting out of the way of punches and that's what he does very well owing kuta there's an example of
22:33that there
22:54it's a great response by cooper but it's only one big left
23:04so determined to show all the youngsters that he's still a force
23:09what a sustained attack that is poor from echo wrestling we're just singing the praises of
23:15owen cooper but look at esamene really going for it and he's pinned cooper on those ropes
23:20another right hand from import and cooper's hurt this time cooper is in big trouble he's gone
23:27the left did the damage the sensational salvo just past the midway point from echo smn
23:33cooper bounces onto his feet with all the exuberance and hope of use but now he's in
23:40a proper fight for the first time and esamene might have his measure absolutely incredible
23:46stuff what a turnaround there and what on the bell pull from echo esamene
23:52the referee bob williams who looked very closely at cooper as he walked back to the corner
23:58and trust me it was a slow walk and he looked uncertain on his feet all the way back it's time
24:06for a rethink an incredible turnaround we were talking about how well owen cooper was doing and
24:15then all of a sudden echo esamene pinned him on the ropes and cooper held his feet and got gets
24:21cool with the left up there and esamene just kept it going then he pins him in the corner here
24:26catching with another left hook and he just kept the pressure on paul sustained pressure
24:31and eventually goes down what a round for echo esamene and he needed it
24:37yes yes come on
24:42must apologize of course for the language anybody offended by that beyond our control
24:48cooper's got to find a way to re-establish some control here because esamene senses victory
24:55coming out for the seventh round yeah esamene has just got to step on the gas and keep it going
25:00cooper's got a jab and he's got to move and just create a bit of space and the gap between himself
25:05and esamene but this is what esamene has got to do for keep on them ropes here he goes again
25:12bob williams is poised williams watched him very closely at the end of the preceding round
25:18cooper's got to show that he's still throwing
25:25he's suddenly looking a bit reluctant but how much has esamene
25:29put into the last three minutes of action or so does he too need a breather can he possibly
25:35continue the pace the pistol like shots from all angles raining down on owen cooper cooper now
25:43really knows what it means 10 or 12 rounds to be in a big fight absolutely and esamene smells
25:48victory doesn't he knows he's got to keep this pace up if he's going to get this win and get a
25:54stoppage win here so esamene has put a lot into it just trying to regroup now but he's got to
25:59get on that front foot again and the slower the pace that will suit cooper he can recover
26:04so esamene again he's got to gamble and go for it here
26:13that mask of concentration that i mentioned surrounding echo esamene's features throughout
26:18the last 48 hours of the build-up to this fight here in birmingham the countenance has been
26:23unchanged throughout this fight he's not even breathing heavily and it was always said about
26:29him that he's at new levels in his gym for fitness we're still seeing that tonight
26:36and in the corner they said to him just take your time they sense that cooper is there for the taking
26:42it's another big right hand from esamene cooper's got to move paul he keeps making this mistake of
26:48holding the feet on the ropes that invites the pressure and that's what esamene wants
26:53so esamene is he's finding a way he's just his own style then he's imposing on
27:01cooper and it's working
27:04cooper tested like never before in his young career unbeaten confidence in his ability and
27:11there is lots of ability as we've seen in the first half of this fight but this is now a different
27:16affair this asks a different question this asks about the young man are you really willing to do
27:21what it takes sometimes to go to championship level i think it's been a good round for esamene
27:31again though paul to be quite honest you know he's got through it keeper most definitely
27:36that could give him a bit of encouragement and confidence that's not a bad right hand there for
27:40him but overall another good round i think for echo esamene but how much he's left what a good
27:45shot again for metham in there thrilling stuff
27:54there's a nick over the right eye of esamene
28:00jimmy gill another real well-respected old timers from nottingham is that work on the cut
28:08good work again from esamene keeping cooper on the ropes for me it's the wrong thing to do he's
28:13just holding those feet and coming square and esamene's taking advantage of that just left and
28:19right big hooks going in left up there that went in that was a good shot and cooper eventually got
28:26through it lost the round for me stop doing the job step one two he definitely comes he needs
28:32he needs you to step you to stop and he's going to throw he can't throw unless he steps
28:36quite telling isn't it in that cooper corner they have been through the rigor over the last
28:44two rounds but it's business as usual ritchie here we go again yeah uncle melvin what he's
28:49talking about there he wants him just to adjust his feet and keep the gap he can see that esamene
28:54is closing that gap and really putting it on at short range to keep it so from he knows that
29:00cooper's got to hit he's got to move and just maintain a gap between him and esamene
29:06very tight in the early stages back and forth in all of the rounds but
29:11mid rounds esamene has found a higher gear and tremendous accuracy
29:18perhaps now it is required of cooper that he responds with something
29:25he's used to dominating in fights remember and having control of it ritchie this one
29:29is completely up in the air really with what eight nine and ten to go three rounds
29:35and he's been asked questions he's never encountered before it's a fairly close fight
29:41isn't it no question esamene the experience of esamene as well he has paid dividends here paul
29:51knows how to pace himself we thought he looked a little bit tired from that round three
29:55got a second wind and then he's really come on strong and found another gear most certainly
30:06perhaps just trying to find his rhythm again that was so effective at times in the first
30:10part of the fight another thought just crosses my mind here ritchie if only esamene had delivered
30:15performances like this a bit more often when he was the british champion there was a tendency
30:20to just coast over the line to victory
30:37you can hear the cooper corner saying about keep on the jab
30:43gap between him and esamene esamene knows he's got to go forward got to close that gap down
30:49and that's when he has his most successes when he pins cooper onto the ropes
30:53but cooper richie in this lap is keeping that distance so much better isn't he much better
30:59the pace has slowed a little bit so they're both probably feeling the pace but that's probably
31:03suited cooper just to use that job and keep his range a little bit better here owing cooper
31:09it's an excellent recovery this by cooper considering that he looked in deep
31:13deep trouble what uh four or five minutes ago
31:20it was a great right hand and it whizzed by the bridge of the nose it didn't quite connect with
31:25esamene but esamene didn't see it and that's a great encouragement to cooper that he could yet
31:31find the equalizer some good work there from cooper as esamene approaches and very cleverly
31:38just gets off the rope because esamene wanted him to hold his feet
31:42so he could reply with the better shots on the inside there
31:52what a great start to the night and in among all the big names
31:56among the men tonight how about this this lady could easily be the top of the bill for me
32:01on many an occasion what a career she has had chantelle cameron but it's all a brand new start
32:06tonight for chantelle cameron on tnt sports new promoter new trainer a whole new beginning or so
32:13she hopes to prove to us tonight for all she's achieved so far and the unforgettable meetings
32:18with katie taylor eyes only on the future starting here tonight
32:22so
32:31it's all there to be won and lost how do you weigh it all up at this point richie it's really
32:38close a lot of these rounds are close ball aren't they the most the biggest rounder for estimates
32:43obviously that ten eight round that he had but let's have a look i've got it yeah point for echo
32:47estimate there's nothing in it and that could be the other way around also it's really close for
32:52three scoring judges at ringside tonight
33:09you can't afford to make those type of mistakes you see he's done that again he got caught with
33:13a couple of big shots he's gone off the road pretty quickly because when you're on the road
33:17for your feet come square your target comes square and you become an easy target to hit
33:22and that's why he's made the mistake too many times and he started this round but
33:27very smartly got back to the center of the ring where he does his best boxing
33:31oh
33:46to throw it two's not ones
33:52that's something they're just trying to time that right hand over the top
33:55as he's thrown the jab that's why he's probably got to throw the double jab
33:59which is much more difficult to actually defend against a single jab you can put the defender can
34:06come back with that right hand over the top and that's what esserman is trying to bring him onto
34:12and in the esserman corner they're saying you're the 12 round fighter remember that
34:16the one with all the experience tested in the fire on many an occasion he's shown his quality
34:23the quality is still there absolutely but as we said at the start a cure of young men who think
34:28we can start knocking off guys like esserman they've been around a bit too long and the sub
34:33blocks to this fight is esserman having none of it good right hand from esserman
34:37yes showing his quality here now echo esserman on the outside the odd single shot getting through
34:45but that's what i like from cooper as he's coming forward bobbing and weaving
34:49looking for the very reactive and looking for the openings and the opportunities to land those hooks
34:54on the inside or the right hand over the shot over the top that's what he's looking for going for
35:12esserman saw it coming maybe got out of the way of some of the force and it's just as well
35:17because it would be over but cooper senses that it could be over now for him
35:22esserman's feet will not move what a turnaround in this fight what a punch that was for moment
35:29cooper we were just talking about how he's walking forward bobbing and weaving looking
35:33for big shots and he whipped one over the top for pinch of a punch
35:40they're rushing in from the bars and the walkways around
35:44the arena here to see they can hear the crowd going absolutely crazy inside what a round of boxing
35:52okay
36:08what a punch that was for let's have a look at it here just whips it over the top how did echo
36:14esserman get up from that ball that is an absolute cracking shot cooper probably won't throw a better
36:19right hand than that in his whole career bang on the button and echo esserman got up fair play to
36:25him what a round of boxing
36:43bob williams brings them together at the start of this 10 round this would have graced the
36:48british title let alone the english title which was mooted for this it's only and i say only in
36:54inverted commas for cooper's much prized european welterweight belt the wbo version and of course
37:02its values are ranking this and now esserman responds and it's cooper is back to enter the
37:07corner and cooper is down and it is over esserman finds more at the start of the 10th round a salvo
37:14which aaron cooper could not answer it's a great victory for echo esserman in the corner where he's
37:22so very nearly seen finished himself only what 90 seconds ago unbelievable paul what a response
37:32from echo esserman we just spoke about and cooper's producing that right hand what a left
37:38hook that was from echo esserman again he won't throw a better shot than that he's turned this
37:43contest literally on his head i thought he was just behind going into the final round it was
37:48anyone's fight and echo esserman has come up with the goods he's produced a knockout with was a
37:54sensational punch what a left hook that was the celebrations are mooted over in the far corner
38:01owen cooper is being attended to they understand that of course the esserman camp owen cooper
38:10came out for that 10th round believing that it was to be his moment fortunes can change in an instant
38:19in boxing incredible stuff paul it really was wasn't it and owen cooper the way he got up
38:28from his stool and coming out for that last round he looked really really confident he's bobbing
38:33and weaving he was going to go for himself and echo esserman has just jumped on him and there's
38:38the applause now that's brilliant paul everyone's up on their feet clapping owen cooper because what
38:43a fight this has been absolutely everything richie let's have a look there's that left up
38:50and then he pins him in the corner and a couple of big big shots that went in but it was that
38:54left up that did all the damage left the right hand left hook on the inside there is there
39:00and that sorry that's in the corner and uh that's when he put the the two and three shots together
39:05to finish it off two fighters producing top line performances and well done to the referee also bob
39:10williams in there as quickly as he could be and i'm delighted to say that cooper is standing he's
39:18been helped onto the stool now and he's going to sit down and he's still receiving the oxygen
39:22the doctor attending to him of course but at this precise time there is no sense of urgency and while
39:30celebrates it might be the time to let the corner know richie that matt posey at our statsman has
39:37found out that cooper was ahead on all three cards well yeah three points so it's a knockout victory
39:44or nothing for sml i had it closer than that i had him ahead but i thought it was a lot closer
39:49and a lot of those rounds were hard to score because esserman did well in the early part of
39:52the round rounds and then cooper came back in the latter part of the rounds to impress those judges
39:58but they had cooper three up i was a little bit surprised at that but nevertheless esserman had
40:03to pull it out the bag and he's done that that was superb it's electric in here already tonight and
40:12this man from nottingham ezra taylor will certainly be buoyed he may have heard already that esamen has
40:18pulled it out tonight we are told as retainer at light heavyweight is facing a real lively
40:25customer from barcelona in carlos alberto lamella the cuban and that's coming next year on tnt sports
40:32he's acting cool now we'll see what happens when they get in here in a few minutes time to thomas
40:43ladies and gentlemen here is the official time 23 seconds of round number 10 your winner by
40:52way of technical knockout and new wbo european welterweight champion echo the engine
41:11with typical boxer understatement owen cooper just went to esamen and said good fight
