Transcript
00:00 G'day, I'm Paul. We tested the Toyota Hilux recently and wasn't really blown away with the way it drove because, you know,
00:06 it hasn't changed a whole lot since it was actually launched. This, on the other hand, is very different.
00:11 It's called the Hilux Rogue. Last time they did a Rogue, it had carpet in the tray. This time around, though,
00:18 they've actually made a stack of mechanical changes to it, namely in the suspension, suspension geometry,
00:23 and then in addition to that, also the track width as well.
00:27 So, keen to see whether this has actually improved this vehicle. Now, this competes with things like the Ford Ranger,
00:32 Isuzu, D-Max, Nissan Navara, you know, you name it, there's a stack of competitors in this segment.
00:38 It's priced at just over $70,000, so it is expensive. It's about $1,000 cheaper than the V6 Ford Ranger Wildtrak,
00:46 but that's sort of roughly where it's placed. Today, we're going to do a detailed review of this car,
00:50 so if you do want to skip ahead to other parts of this review, you can use the time codes on the screen,
00:54 or if you're on YouTube, you can scroll down and use the chapters below, and if you haven't done so already,
00:58 please subscribe to our channel, press the bell icon, that way you'll find out every single time we review an updated ute.
01:04 Let's talk exterior design. So, you've got nine colors to pick from. All but white is going to set you back $675.
01:13 Now, on the design front, we'll get to the sides in just a second, but down the front here,
01:17 you've got that big Toyota grille, chrome highlights up the top there, and a lot of this sort of
01:22 brushed dark look around the edges. Sorry about the car being so dirty,
01:26 the weather is just out of control, so it rains, it's sunny,
01:29 so it's just really hard to keep these clean. Down the front here,
01:33 you have a camera for the 360 camera, big Toyota logo there. Over on the sides here,
01:37 you have full LED headlights with LED daytime running lights and an LED indicator, fog lights down the bottom there.
01:43 Now, let's whip around to the side. So, 18-inch alloy wheels down here.
01:49 What you're going to notice is a few differences here. So, the front and rear track have been increased by about 140 millimeters,
01:55 so this is visibly a wider vehicle on the road, and it kind of feels like the Ford Ranger in terms of the
02:01 supersizing they did between the last generation and the new one, so it is much beefier.
02:05 And as a result of that, the wheels sit kind of outside where the body is on the standard Hilux,
02:11 so that's why they have these big wheel arch guards on the side here that are connected to the front there,
02:15 so they actually serve a purpose to protect that tire from all the debris and stuff that could hit it.
02:21 Beneath here, you actually have changes to the suspension as well.
02:24 So, because the track has increased, the rear axle length has changed.
02:28 They've also extended the suspension arms at the front here and also the front stabilizer bar as well.
02:33 And here, you have bigger brakes, so they're one inch bigger in terms of diameter,
02:37 338 millimeters with a four-piston caliper, so the bigger brakes are there because this is now heavier as well.
02:43 It's almost 200 kilos heavier than the non-rogue model because of all these changes that they've made,
02:48 so bigger brakes is a sensible option, unlike Ford, which didn't really change the brakes on Raptor,
02:52 despite the fact it was supersized in terms of performance, so that's a little bit disappointing on Ford's front.
02:57 Ride height has also increased by 20 millimeters, and as a result of that, you have more ground clearance as well.
03:03 That's now up to 265 millimeters,
03:05 so a lot of changes here to the actual physical setup,
03:08 and I'll run you through the other changes at the back as well in just a second.
03:11 Up the top here, you have this sort of black matte finish on top of that wing mirror,
03:17 indicator built into their camera here on the side with a puddle lamp as well.
03:20 I don't love these side steps. It's, again, one of my sort of grievances with some of the other dual cab utes in this segment.
03:28 They're just sort of plastic, so if you do any off-roading, that's probably going to be destroyed the second you touch a rock at any point, so, yeah.
03:36 These door handles, I like that color as well. It's got that sort of matte graphite finish to it.
03:41 You have privacy glass, and as you work your way down the back, you have this sailplane here with Rogue lettering on the side there.
03:47 Have a look at this as well. You now have rear disc brakes, so they did away with drum brakes. You get rear disc brakes,
03:54 and also, in addition to that, you have changes to the suspension up the back here as well.
03:59 So what they've done is they've moved a lot of this stuff outboard,
04:02 so you can see the damper now sits outboard of the chassis rails there.
04:05 In addition to that, they've lengthened the axle as well because of that track width increase at the rear.
04:10 They've also installed a rear stabilizer bar as well, which they say is going to help it in terms of handling.
04:15 I'm keen to see how that goes because the handling of the SR5 that we tested recently wasn't too crash hot,
04:22 so I'll be keen to see whether this is an improvement on that.
04:25 And it does look like this actually sits a little wider than the front there in terms of that track width as well.
04:29 Wheel arch guards here as well to contain that bigger
04:32 track width too, so,
04:35 keen to give this a shot because these are some fairly significant changes to make to a car that is still within its model cycle.
04:40 You don't typically see anything like that happening, so
04:42 pretty impressed with that. Okay, let's jump around to the back.
04:46 So this is the rear. You've got a Rogue badge just there, Toyota on that side, Hilux here, part LED taillights.
04:54 So this part here is LED and then incandescent globes in here.
04:57 You have a step here for jumping onto, and like I mentioned in the other Hilux,
05:01 no stepping here, and they've put a little label there so you don't go snapping that off anytime soon.
05:05 Now up the top here you have a roller cover.
05:08 You can press a button there and that then moves out of the way. We'll drop our tray. Oh,
05:12 the carpet is still here.
05:14 I mean, this is just the most ridiculous thing in the world. It's like people who install carpet in bathrooms.
05:21 I remember once staying in an Airbnb in the States and I had carpet in the bathroom and I thought that is just so silly.
05:26 This is the exact same as that. So,
05:28 anyway, let me know what you think in the comments section below.
05:31 Do you think carpet in the tray of a ute is a silly idea? Let me know what you think.
05:35 So once the roller cover's out of the way, you have lights there to give you
05:38 illumination of your carpet. And in terms of the dimensions of the tray here, the length is just under 1600 millimeters.
05:45 It's 1645 mil wide and 1109 mil between the wheel arches.
05:50 You have a depth of just under 500 millimeters and a payload of just under 800 kilograms.
05:55 It is disappointing there still isn't a torsion bar here to make this easier to open and close.
06:01 Now with the carpet and all the other stuff they've added to the back of this, it has made this quite heavy to close.
06:06 Maybe if you have manly arms, it's not an issue. But for me, I think it's a little bit heavy,
06:11 in my opinion. Good that the towing capacity hasn't changed. It's not like the Raptor, which is kind of
06:17 strangled in terms of payload and towing capacity. This still has a three and a half ton brake towing capacity, which is good news.
06:23 So let me know what you think down there. Do you think these changes to the Rogue are good?
06:28 It seems like really good value for money when you consider how much they've actually changed compared to a standard Hilux.
06:33 So let me know what you reckon down in the comment section below. So we are inside the Hilux.
06:37 Let's start off with the key. You've got lock,
06:40 unlock, panic, Toyota logo, a little bit of chrome around the edges there and on the back you have Hilux.
06:46 I like this little sort of animation there. Or I don't know if it's an animation, the cartoony type thing of the Hilux.
06:53 I think that looks cool. So it's a proximity sensing key.
06:55 You can leave that in your pocket. Once you're inside the car, you have a push button start up the top here.
06:59 I mentioned in our previous Hilux review, this is all pretty dated now.
07:04 This kind of all feels old school ute with all the hard finished surfaces and all the black and dreariness,
07:10 old school infotainment setup. So look, there is probably a new Hilux coming next year or the year after,
07:16 so it will be well overdue in terms of updating and refreshing this. But functionally it works perfectly fine
07:22 and it means that these surfaces are pretty durable in terms of how long they're going to last. In terms of the touch points,
07:28 this has a soft top to it, but is quite hard beneath.
07:31 Same story on the other side.
07:34 We've tested the main surfaces in this cabin with our geometer so you can see how hard they are compared to other cars in this
07:40 segment by using the link in the description below.
07:42 How about our build quality? So a little bit wonky there in the center when you play with that.
07:47 That looks pretty solid though. And our door test.
07:51 Sounds nice.
07:52 Let's talk infotainment. So eight inch infotainment system with shortcut buttons either side. You have built-in satellite navigation.
07:59 Sort of all pretty straightforward in terms of the way that it works. On the radio front you have AM, FM and DAB digital radio.
08:08 The good news here is that it's all plumbed through a nine speaker JBL branded sound system.
08:12 Now recently we tested the Ford Ranger which has a B&O Bang & Olufsen play sound system,
08:17 and I reckon the JBL sound system is actually better than the Ford one. I think they've integrated it better.
08:22 It's got more bass. It just sounds
08:24 better than the Ford one. So that is a big upshot here. In terms of smartphone mirroring you have Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
08:30 They're both wired. So you have to plug up a cable for those. This is what Apple CarPlay looks like.
08:36 So, a little bit fast enough, a tiny bit laggy as you move through that, but for the most part it's not too bad.
08:42 And this is what Android Auto looks like.
08:46 So yeah, full screen integration again and then
08:48 fast enough, slightly laggy, but not the end of the world. Then ahead of the driver here
08:54 we have a small digital display and then analog gauges on either side of it.
08:59 So nothing sort of too revolutionary here and it all just kind of does the job. Now moving on to safety tech.
09:04 You've got autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, an auto-dimming rear vision mirror.
09:10 You have blind spot monitoring built into the wing mirror.
09:13 You have a lane departure warning, rear cross traffic alert, radar cruise control and front and rear parking sensors with a 360 camera.
09:20 I'll show you what the camera looks like.
09:22 Yeah, look the quality of that really isn't very good.
09:25 I can kind of just make out what it says on our suitcase there, but for the most part it isn't very good.
09:31 The guidelines move with the wheel, but I did mention this in our last Hilux review.
09:34 The center point line there for the camera is actually slightly offset because the camera isn't centered.
09:40 So it's going to make putting a trailer on and stuff just a little bit tricky, but you know,
09:44 I guess it is what it is. So yeah,
09:46 hopefully the next generation of this is significantly better. Then in addition to all of that if you exit reverse,
09:51 you've got a view button down here near the driver's knee that gives you the front view, I think.
09:56 And then also side views as well. So they're pretty
09:59 not very good as you can tell. So your practicality, we will start off with connectivity.
10:04 You've got two 12-volt outlets. They are 120 watt each. You have a USB-A port just here.
10:10 No wireless phone charging, but you do have an actual 220-volt outlet here.
10:15 It's only 100 watt though, so not really overly useful. Phone can kind of sit anywhere really.
10:21 There's a few little hiding spots just there.
10:23 In terms of storing other things, coffee cups.
10:26 So if you have a small coffee cup, it fits into here,
10:29 but it kind of moves around a little bit because you don't have any teeth.
10:31 But you do have these cup holders in front of the air vents, so coffee fits into there nicely without any dramas.
10:37 In terms of your bottles though, they fit in, but again because of no teeth that'll move around.
10:41 Bottle fits inside the door. We'll try our big one as well.
10:45 Yay, that fits too. Win-win. In terms of other storage, what do we got? So over here in the centre,
10:52 reasonably sized.
10:54 You have a lower glove box down here full of manuals and other bits and pieces,
10:59 and then you have an upper glove box up here that also has an air conditioning vent as well. And finally,
11:04 a sunnies holder up the top. It's also where you're going to find your SOS button for the connected services.
11:10 You can push and hold that.
11:11 You do need to be put in touch with someone that can help you out. And on your comfort front, you have dual zone
11:16 automatic climate control, seat heating for the front row, driver's seat is electrically adjustable,
11:20 so you can go forwards, backwards, backrest can go forwards, backwards. You can lift the front,
11:25 you can lift the back as well. Passenger seat is manually adjustable. What about your seat comfort?
11:30 Well, they are perforated seats, which means they're a little bit cooler for
11:34 summer driving. If they're comfortable enough, they're sort of a little firm at the bottom,
11:38 but they're going to be fine for long distance drives. Steering offers both tilt and reach
11:43 adjustment as well. And on our reach test, all this stuff is easy to reach while you're driving.
11:47 Okay, so second row, before I hop in, I'll show you some of the little tricks
11:51 in here. So this side pops up. It's like a
11:55 60/40
11:56 folding, but the opposite sort of thing.
11:58 So when that pops up, you have access to a little storage nook here. The only problem is you have to have
12:03 both sides up.
12:06 There we go.
12:08 Both sides up to access that and then that storage area as well.
12:13 Sorry, you had to witness that. I will climb in now as well. Let's have a look at the legroom. So,
12:18 legroom is not great. So I've got my seat sort of pretty far back,
12:22 but it is my standard driving position and my knees are kind of wedged into that. I have no toe room at all.
12:27 Headroom is okay.
12:29 Storage. So you've got this little nook here for
12:32 shopping and other bits and bobs. You've got air vents here for the second row, a center armrest as well
12:38 that pops down with two cup holders. No teeth, so that kind of just wobbles around in there.
12:43 And bottle fits inside the door without any dramas.
12:47 You have two ISOFIX points on the outboard seats and two top tether points as well. No USB charging here at all.
12:53 Two map pockets. And what about our window test?
12:57 So it's auto up and down, which is great.
13:00 All the way down as well. Win, win, win.
13:02 So we've just hit the road in the Hilux. Now before I tell you how this actually drives,
13:11 let's talk about what's under the bonnet.
13:13 This is probably going to be pretty familiar to most of you, but I'll run through it
13:16 anyway, just in case you're not across it. 2.8 litre turbocharged, four-cylinder diesel engine. Makes 150 kilowatts of power and
13:23 500 newton meters of torque. So it's really nice and punchy and they're healthy numbers.
13:27 Behind the wheel, what does that feel like, made it to its six-speed auto?
13:31 Yeah, look, it's pretty punchy. It actually has a fair bit of pick up and go. You do notice
13:36 this feels a little slower than the standard Hilux,
13:39 just because of the extra weight that it's carrying. And it's kind of what happened with the Raptor when they released that in the previous
13:45 generation, because it was still the same engine but gained a lot of weight.
13:48 It didn't really feel much quicker in a straight line, and this is pretty much in the same boat. When you lean onto the throttle,
13:53 it does feel a little slower in comparison, but still punchy enough for me anyway.
13:58 I'm sort of quite happy with that level of torque that's on offer, and the gearbox as well is nice and smooth.
14:04 There's no real dramas there at all. Now Toyota claims a combined fuel economy of just under 9 litres per 100 k's.
14:10 We're currently sitting on 10.2 litres per 100.
14:14 Typically with Hilux, that's about where it sits. I don't
14:17 see them much lower than that. So, fine with that figure.
14:20 It's really not the end of the world, and I think it's kind of where it needs to be.
14:23 Now, what's the ride like? So,
14:27 they have totally transformed the ride in comparison to standard Hilux. These suspension changes have made a huge difference in terms of low speed ride.
14:36 It still has a little bit of brittleness to it,
14:38 but it is much smoother, and it feels like that wider track has really just helped settle it.
14:42 You typically had to have a load in the back of a Hilux for it to feel settled, whereas now it feels fine.
14:46 I'm going to damp this up to 130 for our sine waves. The last Hilux we drove here
14:52 actually left the ground at 130 on the sine waves. So, let's see how this one goes with the revised suspension setup.
15:00 Alrighty, so there's 130 there.
15:03 Yeah, look, it feels kind of the same. The body control hasn't really improved, and that's despite the fact they're
15:11 using that suspension setup and stabiliser bars as well. So,
15:15 yeah, look, I think that probably needs a little bit of work,
15:18 especially if they're working on the next generation of Hilux. It needs to be far more planted than this one is,
15:22 especially when you aren't doing manoeuvres like that.
15:24 If you do have weight inside the vehicle, the effects of that oscillation are really going to be amplified.
15:28 Now, let's talk drive mode. So, you have power and eco. Eco dulls the throttle. Power makes everything fun.
15:36 So, I've popped it into power mode.
15:38 Let's see what it's like around our track now with these changes that they've made.
15:42 Okay, so still a fair degree of body roll, but
15:51 what I am noticing there is we're not getting
15:54 it biting
15:56 like it was in the standard Hilux on that rear wheel as you get onto the throttle.
16:00 So, I've got that pinned to the board now as we roll onto this back straight area.
16:05 It's feeling more confident with pace.
16:08 That Hilux that we drove last time, the SR5, kind of felt a little
16:13 unsure of itself, whereas this is actually
16:16 really nicely settled, especially on this
16:20 coarse chip, low friction stuff here. Let's see what it's like on our faster stretch out the back here.
16:25 I'm actually quite surprised by this. This actually feels a lot more dynamic than the standard SR5.
16:35 It doesn't have as much punch as the standard SR5 because of the extra weight, but
16:39 this is the base they're working towards with next generation of this.
16:43 It's actually not bad. All right, we're on the back straight now. I've got that flat to the board.
16:48 It does feel like it's running out of puff there.
16:50 But,
16:53 I've got to say the changes they've made to that chassis are really good and hard on the brakes here.
16:56 The brakes actually feel really confidence inspiring as well. So,
17:00 Toyota has actually done a really good job with fine-tuning this and modifying this chassis to actually be
17:07 sporty, which I never thought I'd say about a Hilux. And that excites me for the next generation because
17:12 if they're going to go and cram a more powerful engine under the bonnet of this, coupled with these
17:16 suspension and chassis changes, it is actually going to be a pretty competent vehicle. So,
17:21 can't wait to have a drive of it, especially the Raptor competitor they're working on.
17:25 So, yeah, the ute segment is going to be holding up pretty soon, I reckon.
17:29 [Engine revs]
17:31 Okay, it is time for 0-100. We don't have an official time,
17:36 so we're going to do a fresh run here up against the V-Box. I've got it in power mode. I'm going to turn
17:42 our stability control off. We'll see how that goes. So, it's still, traction control is still active, but stability control is off.
17:49 So, dial up a few revs here.
17:51 [Engine revs]
17:56 We'll slip off the line there. We're going to go all the way to 120 here just to see what those numbers are like.
18:01 All right, there is 100. I think we're going to run out of road here.
18:06 Okay, I got a 120 figure. Geez, I almost ran out of road.
18:13 God, it is slow. Okay, so 0-100, 10.7 seconds and 80-120 in 7.9 seconds.
18:25 Okay, time for our reverse speed test. I suspect this will just be the same as the last Hilux that we tested, but let's find out.
18:31 46 kilometres an hour we got there in the end.
18:42 Now, what's the noise like? Look, it hasn't really changed a great deal over standard Hilux.
18:50 You will notice tyre noise on these highway terrains as you're driving on course chip roads.
18:54 It's not the end of the world. It's not the quietest unit on the market. It's not the loudest.
18:57 So it's kind of right in the middle there and, you know, fine for what it is. Now, let's talk visibility.
19:02 Look, not a great deal is different here to standard Hilux.
19:05 I can see clearly down the front of the bonnet there.
19:08 Wing mirrors are nice and big with a blind spot monitor built into them. Visibility out the back is
19:12 pretty good. You do see the edges of those headrests, but it's fine for what it is. So it's all pretty straightforward.
19:21 Okay, let's do some light off-roading. I'll run you through the spec changes here.
19:26 So, mentioned earlier ground clearance of 265 mm, which is higher than the standard Hilux.
19:32 You have an approach angle of 31 degrees and a departure angle of 23 degrees.
19:37 So that's the angle of the face you can approach and also the angle of the face you can depart.
19:40 You also have a weighting depth of 700 millimetres.
19:44 Now, just to name a few of your four-wheel drive hardware, you have two-wheel drive high range, four-wheel drive high range, four-wheel drive
19:51 low range. You also have a rear diff lock that only works in four-wheel drive low range.
19:55 You also have hill descent control that only works in four-wheel drive high range or four-wheel drive low range.
20:00 It won't work in two-wheel drive high range and it won't work with rear diff locked in four-wheel drive low range. A little disappointing given the
20:06 Ford Ranger,
20:07 it works in all of those modes including two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive with diff locked regardless of whether it's
20:12 in high range or low range. And it is disappointing as well here that the rear diff lock doesn't work in four-wheel drive high range or
20:19 two-wheel drive high range either. So it would be nice if that actually functioned in those modes.
20:23 So what we are going to do to start with, I'm going to leave this in two-wheel drive high range.
20:27 We're going to attack our offset
20:29 mogul here
20:31 and we'll see how it goes. I'm going to get the driver's side rear wheel off
20:34 the ground so that we can see how well the traction control works.
20:37 So there it is just there. I'll lean into the throttle and we'll see what happens.
20:43 So in the SR5 that we tested this didn't really work at all. So
20:50 my foot is currently flat to the board there and
20:53 nothing is happening. So it's just basically sitting there
20:56 doing nothing at all. So what you can do is you press traction control once and what that does is it actually switches stability control off
21:05 but leaves traction control on. And I didn't make this clear enough in our last video.
21:10 You can see that indicated up the top there where it says auto LSD. It's not actually a limited slip differential. It is just
21:16 a simulating one. So as I lean into that throttle it actually starts doing a much better job of pulsing torque across the rear axle
21:22 and then it actually gets us over this which is
21:26 a much better way to be doing things. So that is excellent. Good job Toyota.
21:31 All right, let's turn this around and we'll pop this into four-wheel drive high range to try the mogul in reverse.
21:38 Okay, so let's pop this into four-wheel drive high range. You do that by switching that over to there.
21:44 I've turned traction control and stability control back on. Yeah, it's typically harder to go back over this in
21:50 four-wheel drive high range going this direction. So let's see how it performs.
21:56 Because we get to the point now where we get two
21:59 tires without any traction and it forces the traction control system to actually do a whole lot of work in
22:04 apportioning torque to where it needs to go. So I'm going to lean into the throttle now.
22:08 I'm biting a little bit there.
22:13 I can feel progress. Look at that. Nice. That actually got over. There you go.
22:17 So the last Hilux we tested here didn't actually get over that. We had to switch off all the driver aids for it to work.
22:22 So yeah, it's good to see they've actually put a little bit more effort into tuning this or perhaps it's
22:27 the difference in track or wheelbase that's actually helping it get over that.
22:30 But that is a much better effort than the first time when we tried that. Okay, it's time for our steep hill.
22:35 It's pretty muddy at the moment and it's been a little chewed up from
22:40 our previous attempts here. So I'm going to pop this into neutral, put this into low range by flicking that switch over.
22:46 A little light comes on saying full low. It switches off stability control.
22:50 Let's see how it goes. So first time around I'm just going to drive up this. Second time around
22:54 I'm going to stop and then accelerate just to see if it'll still get up.
22:58 Keeping in mind this is running on highway terrain tires, so
23:02 I don't know how well it's going to do here.
23:04 Wow, that is walking up without any problems at all.
23:10 That is seriously bloody good. Very impressed with that. Okay, up through our mud bog here.
23:14 All right, and let's line up for our hill descent. What I'm going to do here as well with the hill descent,
23:19 just so we can actually test the hill descent control, I'm going to move this back into full drive high range.
23:24 And then we will engage hill descent control.
23:28 Pop that back into drive. That light is solid. Let's see how we go. Okay, here we go. Going down the hill.
23:35 I can't see anything. I'm going to pop this camera on. Here we go. Still can't see anything.
23:39 Terrible camera. Okay, here we go.
23:41 It's okay.
23:46 It's not too bad. I would have loved to be able to
23:48 perhaps adjust the speed or have a bit more control over that, but that's okay. It kind of does the job okay.
23:53 I'll switch that off now.
23:55 Get through our mud bog here and we'll head back to our hill one more time.
23:59 Okay, we are back in low range. Let's give our hill another crack here. This time I'm actually going to come to a stop
24:07 and then lay into the throttle. So there's our stop just there. We'll get onto the throttle now and start climbing.
24:12 Tiny little slip.
24:15 God, that is so good.
24:18 Yeah, so look it does switch stability control off, but it keeps traction control on climbing that and
24:23 just does a really good job of just getting you up there without any dramas. Didn't even have to lock the rear diff either.
24:29 So, bloody good job. Okay, let's see how we go over the rocks.
24:33 Hilux SR5 was pretty fine through here. So I'll be keen to see whether this feels the same as we roll through here.
24:40 Given that we do have that extra ground clearance now
24:44 and the suspension changes.
24:48 Actually feels really comfy.
24:51 This is so good.
25:01 Sorry about all this noise. There's all this stuff moving around here.
25:03 Yeah, I'm really impressed by this. It is
25:06 just cruising through these rocks without any dramas at all.
25:10 Probably the most comfortable dual cab ute we've tested over those rocks. It actually just feels really nice.
25:16 Okay, it is time for our water crossing now.
25:19 It has been raining a lot here just over the past few weeks and even today.
25:26 This is going to be interesting because it is about 700mm deep and this has a wading depth of
25:31 around 700mm. So let's see how we go.
25:35 Alright, wish me luck here. So drop this into here.
25:43 Oh, and it's so nice and deep.
25:49 Cruising through there without any dramas and let's see what it's like for our climb out of here.
25:56 Yep, no dramas at all.
25:58 Yeah, nice. Okay, look, I'm bloody impressed with the Rogue.
26:02 I was a bit underwhelmed by the SR5, especially with how
26:06 just average the traction control and stuff was. Whereas
26:09 this actually feels really good. So it is dynamically good, but it is also really good here off-road too.
26:16 So you can imagine if you switched out the highway terrains and actually put all terrains on here,
26:20 it probably would go anywhere. It is damn impressive.
26:24 Yeah, it is damn impressive.
26:25 So the Hilux Rogue. Thank goodness, Toyota, you're finally doing something. This is actually
26:38 quite enjoyable to drive. The ride is fixed. Dynamically, it is way better than a standard
26:43 Hilux. Now all it needs is technology and a faster engine and you're going to be closer to,
26:49 you know, I'm not going to say the Raptor, but towards the Raptor. So I am excited for what
26:54 Toyota is working on. They're working on a Raptor competitor and if they can get this sort of stuff
26:59 right, like they've proven here, I actually have high hopes that they'll have something that will
27:02 be equally as fun to drive. So have you bought one of these? Are you looking at buying one of
27:06 these? I would strongly recommend test driving one if you do want a new Hilux because I think it is
27:10 worth spending the money on this over and above the SR5. You are getting a whole lot of bang for
27:15 buck there in terms of the changes they've made. So let me know in the comments section down below.
