00:00 7 more convicts who served as witnesses in the drug charges against former Senator Laila
00:06 de Lima recant their testimonies.
00:08 De Lima filed a manifestation before the Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court Branch 206 on Tuesday,
00:14 November 21, saying she has received a letter from the convict witnesses expressing their
00:18 intent to recant.
00:20 In the letter, the convicts say their participation as witnesses against de Lima was "initiated
00:26 by undue compulsion and influences."
00:28 Unlike the star witness Rafael Ragos who had earlier recanted, the convicts do not name
00:33 the people who allegedly forced them to testify against de Lima.
00:37 The convicts say they faced "unimaginable threats to their lives" which led to their
00:41 forced participation as witnesses.
00:44 The convicts also request the court to order their transfer to another facility for their
00:47 safety and security.
00:49 The former senator was in jail for almost seven years before being granted bail on November
00:54 13.
