00:00 Some overseas Filipino workers who lost their jobs in Saudi Arabia started receiving back pay when there was a crisis in the sky.

00:08 The problem is that the banks in the Philippines are not accepting checks from the Saudi banks.

00:14 We have the first news from Sandra Aguinaldo.

00:20 A year ago, after the Philippines announced that they will be able to pay the delayed salary of 10,000 Filipinos after they lost their jobs in Saudi Arabia due to the oil crisis,

00:32 some Filipino claimants started receiving checks, like Pamela Nunez, a widow of a Filipino claimant.

00:40 It's a big help for us when we were able to pay that.

00:43 It's also hard for widows who have no one to rely on, like June Ma'am. It's really hard. I hope we can get everything.

00:51 The problem is that the banks in Saudi Arabia and in Saudi Riyal, the checks are not being accepted by the banks in the Philippines.

00:59 The Department of Migrant Workers promised to help.

01:03 We had a meeting this morning with the Overseas Filipinos Bank and they will help us through this process.

01:08 There will be an appropriate announcement in one or two days about the manner in which we will help.

01:16 But others are not receiving their back wages.

01:20 Arcel Vigayan, a widow of a former employee of Saudi OJ, is hoping to receive.

01:26 She said her husband died of illness in the Philippines in 2020 while waiting for his back pay.

01:33 As much as possible, I would like to ask for a master list from Saudi Arabia.

01:39 If ever, for example, our other colleagues are not included in that list of those who will be paid, at least until early, the DMW will find a way.
