00:00 What is up Texas A&M Aggies fans?
00:07 Tim here with your Aggies Daily Blitz.
00:11 It is a defeat Saturday, I guess, as the Aggies close out their season against the LSU Tigers
00:19 with a 42-30 loss in a game, really, that was pretty close.
00:26 I was pretty impressed with the performance of the Aggies early on.
00:30 A&M even held a 17-14 halftime lead, but you never really got the impression that that
00:40 was going to hold up.
00:41 You knew at some point Jaden Daniels and the LSU offense was going to click.
00:48 But an impressive performance nonetheless, I think, for the Aggies defense.
00:52 Now in the end, of course, you lost the game.
00:55 You allowed Jaden Daniels 235 yards passing.
00:59 You let him rush for 120 yards ultimately.
01:02 But at the half, he completed 7 of 10 passes for 58 yards and had just one touchdown.
01:10 But all in all, the team's not really playing for anything.
01:16 They're playing for their interim coach, I get it.
01:18 They're obviously going to go out and try.
01:21 But really nothing to play for here as you're probably about to see as of, I don't know,
01:29 maybe even as early as this evening here on a Saturday after the game, some players start
01:36 to hit the transfer portal, which is pretty typical when you lose a coach.
01:40 And sort of along those lines, if you have not heard the news, Aggies wide receiver Evan
01:47 Stewart didn't travel with the team to face the Tigers.
01:50 He remained at home, did not travel, and that is prompting rumors that he is about to hit
01:56 the transfer portal.
01:58 And of course, he was a Longhorns commit before he decommitted three months, I think, after
02:07 Sark took over.
02:10 And the speculation with him for a long time has been that he may transfer.
02:18 But especially now with Jimbo gone, you're going to start seeing guys hit the portal,
02:23 the guys that were Jimbo guys.
02:26 And we should start seeing news of that, you know, Evan Stewart and others, probably as
02:32 early as tonight, definitely Sunday on into Monday, I would think you'll start seeing
02:35 tweets and stuff from guys that will be announcing their intentions to enter the transfer portal
02:43 and change programs as we go forward.
02:46 But back to the game now, you know, and it was a game that Jaden Daniels really was his
02:51 last chance to shine before the Heisman voting.
02:58 And I thought, you know, did he do enough?
03:02 Maybe just enough.
03:04 With again, the 235 yards, four touchdowns through the air, and then 120 yards on 11
03:12 yards, including that 49 yard just absolute nail in the coffin conversion by Daniels there
03:20 in the second half.
03:21 But I was more impressed, I think, with the quarterback on the other side of the field,
03:28 Jalen Henderson, 25 and 35, 294 yards, two touchdowns.
03:32 He did have a killer, killer interception that came just one series after the missed
03:39 field goal by Randy Bond, the 31 yarder that just barely squeaked right, wide right.
03:46 And that those two possessions are really what killed the Aggies.
03:50 I think they lost all momentum after the missed field goal.
03:52 And then the next possession, deep in your own, deep in your own, on your own side of
03:58 the field, you throw an interception that results in now seven points off that turnover
04:05 to the Tigers.
04:06 And they never looked back after that.
04:08 But as terrible as that interception was, Henderson, I thought, had a really, really
04:16 good day.
04:17 We're starting to see what he can do with his feet.
04:22 And I think he is just sometimes one step away from being mentioned maybe down the road
04:30 with some of these elite running quarterbacks.
04:33 Because it just seems like on more than one occasion, he was literally just a step away
04:40 from breaking a tackle to make a long run.
04:44 Now, he had 16 carries for just 10 yards.
04:48 So you're like, what are you talking about, Tim?
04:50 That doesn't sound very impressive.
04:51 And I'm telling you, on probably eight or nine of those carries, he was just like a
04:58 toenail away from breaking a tackle for a long game.
05:03 So it's right there.
05:05 He just needs to maybe be a little bit more aware of where he is on the field and those
05:10 around him.
05:11 And that will come with some experience for sure.
05:13 That will come.
05:14 And I think that will be a huge boost to his game.
05:18 You know, now we're entering-- of course, the bowl game will come first.
05:23 But then the offseason, you're going to start to wonder, all right, who's going to be the
05:28 back next year for the Aggies?
05:30 You know, you've got a new coach coming in.
05:32 Wigman's still there.
05:34 Max Johnson's still there.
05:35 Jalen Henderson's still there.
05:37 I can't imagine that they're going to go into the spring with all three of these guys on
05:43 the roster.
05:44 But we'll see.
05:46 And certainly a nice problem to have too many good quarterbacks to pick from, right?
05:50 So man, I would certainly like to see what Jalen Henderson could do with a couple of
05:54 years starting under his belt.
05:56 Of course, we're still a fan of Wigman and we always love Max Johnson.
06:01 But I can't imagine all three of these guys staying on the field for the Aggies.
06:05 Your leading receiver today, Jaday Walker, Henderson's roommate.
06:11 Four catches, 80 yards.
06:12 Max Wright, two carries, 60 yards, including that awesome, awesome 51-yard touchdown.
06:17 If you didn't get to see that, go check it out.
06:21 It was literally a little dump-off pass to the left sideline and Wright just broke tackle
06:27 after tackle after tackle and carried a dude with him into the end zone.
06:30 I mean, it was an amazing, amazing play.
06:32 Highlight of the day for sure.
06:34 Aniah Smith, eight catches, 59 yards.
06:37 Noah Thomas, four catches, 32 yards on the ground.
06:42 Le'Veon Moss, nine carries, 45 yards.
06:44 Ruben Owen, six carries, 21 yards.
06:47 Daniels had five carries for nine yards.
06:50 And of course, the offensive lineman, Mark Nabu.
06:52 If you didn't see that, got a chance to carry the ball on a one-yard touchdown.
06:58 I hesitate to use the word "run" because it was more of a falling forward, almost like
07:01 a tush-push play that you see the Eagles do.
07:04 But Mark Nabu Jr. getting in on the scoring with one carry for one yard for one touchdown.
07:10 You like to see those big guys up front get rewarded a little bit when they get a chance
07:13 to carry the ball for sure.
07:15 So lots of fun.
07:16 Again, 42-30 loss, not what we wanted to see, but probably about what we expected to see.
07:22 But we'll now move on, wait for an invitation to a bowl game, wait for information about
07:28 a head coach, and we'll go from there.
07:31 So you know, all in all, another disappointing season for the Aggies at seven and five, four
07:36 and four in the SEC.
07:39 That we're moving forward, right?
07:41 That's the whole point.
07:42 That's why Jimbo's gone now.
07:44 We'll keep our ears to the ground as far as rumors and speculation about who may be headed
07:50 to College Station.
07:51 If you got to watch the OSU and Michigan game today, that guy might be headed to College
07:57 Station.
07:58 Ryan Day, among those names mentioned.
08:01 Especially now with the loss.
08:04 So we'll see.
08:05 We'll do it all again probably early next week, boys and girls.
08:07 Until then, we'll see ya.
08:09 (upbeat music)
