00:00 I'm Steve and I'm one of the co-owners of Crema Coffee.
00:03 Can you tell me a little bit about the idea behind the business?
00:06 Yeah, so we're situated in a co-working home-based space called Collective.
00:10 Collective is a landlord which champions independent businesses in hair, beauty and therapy industries.
00:17 So a lot of the operators here, hairdressers, massages, nail girls, they all operate their business from here.
00:23 They just pay a simple rental fee and then they kind of cross-promote each other
00:28 and then champion each other under one roof really.
00:31 And where the coffee shop is seen is the reception at the front of the building really.
00:36 So tell me about how the collaboration with your business partner, Nikki, is.
00:42 Yeah, it's going really well. This is our second site we've opened at Collective.
00:47 It's really positive. The first site has currently got 21 different hair, beauty operators with a coffee shop.
00:54 What we try and do is try and promote the businesses out back as much as possible
01:00 because it's in our interest to have as many people going through the door.
01:03 And it's got that community vibe and hopefully we're building one in Brighton at the moment.
01:08 Crema will go into that one as well.
01:10 And then we have aspirations to carry on going to many different sites.
01:15 So tell me what the reaction's been like.
01:17 Yeah, it's been really positive so far. It's really encouraging.
01:21 People have embraced that something positive has gone into the old noise bank building
01:25 and that there's something new on London Road North End, something to look forward to.
01:31 And it's not quite early gentrification but some people have mentioned that.
01:35 So yeah, so far so good.
01:37 So tell me what your ambitions are for Crema in the future.
01:41 Yeah, so we want to keep the partnership going with the Collective.
01:45 So as they open up, we'd like to partner with them.
01:48 We'd also like to open up more cafe-operated style operations called Crema Cafe.
01:54 This is Crema Coffee so this is more speciality coffee place.
01:56 So we'd like to open up things that offer actually a cook kitchen
02:00 and then see where we can go from there really.
