00:10 - Hey guys and welcome back to another vlog.
00:37 My tea is boiling in the background
00:39 so my apologies for the noise.
00:41 I'll step outside for Peach 'cause she wants to play.
00:43 It's Tuesday right now
00:44 and it's around like the middle of November.
00:46 We're kind of leading up to Thanksgiving here.
00:49 So things are actually kind of settling down before finals.
00:51 Today we have a practice tooth ID exam.
00:55 And I don't know if this is the same at all dental schools,
00:57 but at least online,
00:58 we have this tooth ID exam in our dental anatomy class
01:01 where basically they put out a bunch of teeth
01:03 and you have to tell them which tooth number it is.
01:04 Every tooth has like a specific number.
01:06 There's actually multiple numbering systems,
01:08 but like most people just use one.
01:10 So that was, we have like a practice version of that today.
01:13 We're also waxing our number 30s and number threes.
01:17 So we have molars to wax,
01:20 which are the hardest teeth to wax.
01:22 Not all schools wax either.
01:24 I know Peach just wanted to play.
01:26 Not all schools wax.
01:28 It's just really to like learn the dental anatomy.
01:30 It's not something that you actually need to do
01:32 like in dentistry,
01:33 but it's honestly just kind of fun.
01:35 And like, it's a nice break from just like
01:37 all of the actual classes throughout the day.
01:39 So that's what I'm doing this morning.
01:41 And then we have head and neck anatomy.
01:44 And then after that,
01:45 we have these presentations
01:47 in my patient communications class.
01:49 I hate presenting.
01:50 We can't have a PowerPoint or anything.
01:52 So not looking forward to it.
01:55 I may or may not go today even
01:56 because the whole class like can't go in one day.
01:59 So I just wanted to show you guys
02:00 like kind of how I've been studying for this.
02:02 There's this app called BoneBox Dental.
02:05 It's like the pro version is free on the iPad.
02:08 And basically it'll just like show you a tooth.
02:11 This looks like a mandibular second molar.
02:16 Okay, I think it's 29.
02:17 Incorrect.
02:19 Third molar.
02:20 Oh, we don't need to know third molars.
02:22 This really shows how smart I am guys.
02:23 Just kidding.
02:24 Okay, what's this?
02:25 This is a canine.
02:26 Looks like a mandibular canine.
02:28 And that would be 27.
02:32 Correct.
02:33 Ha ha.
02:34 Yes.
02:34 So you have to know like the tooth,
02:37 which if it's maxillary mandibular, like arch,
02:40 and then like right or left.
02:42 So it's a lot to know,
02:43 but honestly like it's not as bad as I thought it would be.
02:45 It's kind of hard to determine right from left sometimes.
02:48 But I just wanted to show you.
02:49 And then I also have this little like type of don't guy.
02:52 I got it on Amazon.
02:53 It's not, it's not great.
02:55 The anatomy is really just okay,
02:56 but you can take the teeth out.
02:57 So I like practice tooth ID with this too.
03:01 So my tea is ready.
03:03 It's time for me to go.
03:05 (upbeat music)
03:08 Okay.
03:22 So I got my tea, got my greens and reds.
03:26 These just helped me with bloating throughout the day.
03:28 I feel like I've noticed taking them in the morning
03:31 that I just like,
03:32 I really just don't get bloated throughout the day.
03:33 There's so many digestive enzymes and like,
03:36 kind of like, I don't know, superfoods.
03:37 I hate that word, but you know,
03:39 those foods that just like have a bunch of like nutrients.
03:41 I still do eat green foods throughout the day.
03:44 It just kind of helps.
03:45 And yeah, I am off to class.
03:48 (upbeat music)
03:50 (upbeat music)
03:53 (upbeat music)
03:55 (upbeat music)
03:58 (upbeat music)
04:01 (upbeat music)
04:03 (upbeat music)
04:08 (upbeat music)
04:14 (upbeat music)
04:19 (upbeat music)
04:25 (upbeat music)
04:28 (upbeat music)
04:37 So I just got to the gym.
04:45 I didn't like vlog that much, like in my afternoon classes
04:48 because I had head and neck anatomy
04:50 and then we did presentations
04:51 for my patient communication class.
04:53 And I presented today.
04:55 I hate presenting.
04:56 It's not something I like to do.
04:57 Don't like public speaking.
04:59 I forget how to breathe.
05:00 So actually everyone was nervous, but I got it done.
05:03 So now I don't have to do it like next week
05:05 or the week after, which is super nice.
05:07 So yeah, I'm about to go to the gym
05:09 or I'm like already at the gym
05:10 and I'm going to do full body workout.
05:12 I usually do one full body workout during the week.
05:14 And then on the weekends I do a little something else.
05:17 And then I'm going to head home.
05:19 (upbeat music)
05:21 (upbeat music)
05:24 So just got back home and I am like starving
05:31 'cause I haven't eaten since like 11.45
05:34 and it's like 5.50.
05:35 I had like a little snack, but like I'm crazy.
05:37 So I'm just gonna whip up a quick little protein shake
05:40 just before I make my dinner.
05:41 'Cause I know my dinner will probably take
05:43 a little bit of time.
05:44 So.
05:47 So I just knocked over all of my vitamins.
05:52 Anyways, I'll clean those up in a second.
05:55 But wow, how disappointing.
05:58 Peach, I'm coming.
06:00 I'm hungry.
06:01 She doesn't get it.
06:03 I like to have mine with almond milk when I'm home
06:05 just 'cause like, it's just better with almond milk.
06:07 Like I've had it, I've had protein shakes with water before,
06:11 but I'm sorry, I don't care what brand it is.
06:12 Always better with almond milk.
06:14 Then I'm having the Formula One chocolate milkshake flavor.
06:19 It's really a basic flavor, but honestly,
06:21 I just really like it.
06:22 I've been on a chocolate kick lately.
06:24 I just do one scoop.
06:25 Let's see how many grams of protein.
06:27 20 grams of protein and this is First Form's
06:29 like more fast absorbing protein.
06:31 So it's better for post-workout.
06:33 I'm not trying to like have a total meal replacement
06:36 right now, like I just wanna have something
06:37 that's gonna like get some protein right in
06:39 after my workout and just like keep me full
06:42 for like 45 minutes while I cook dinner.
06:45 So that's what I'm having.
06:47 It just tastes like chocolate milk.
06:50 It's really good, so that's that.
06:52 (upbeat music)
06:54 So just thought I would recap my day a little bit.
07:08 So I finished waxing my number 30 and got that signed off.
07:12 We just kinda like have to get them signed off
07:14 like pass/fail.
07:15 Number 30 is this guy.
07:17 It's like your mandibular first molar.
07:19 And then I started working on number three,
07:22 which is your maxillary first molar, which is much harder.
07:25 And we have a practical on that the day after
07:28 or the week after Thanksgiving.
07:29 So gonna have to figure out how to do that one
07:32 since at some point, but at this point,
07:34 pretty good at waxing.
07:36 I don't know, I've always liked doing little things
07:38 like that, that's part of the reason
07:40 I am becoming a dentist.
07:42 I've always liked doing my nails,
07:43 very small, like fine or detailed oriented things.
07:47 And I mean, that's literally what waxing is.
07:49 And then we had a little practice tooth ID thing.
07:52 And like, there were so many questions.
07:54 There were like 40 different teeth.
07:55 Actually, they weren't all different.
07:57 There was like six or seven mandibular first premolars.
08:01 And I was like, girl, I cannot look at any more of these.
08:04 I like, I put so many of them as like the right side,
08:07 I think, or the left, I forget which one.
08:10 Some of those are wrong.
08:11 It was nice to have that practice round though,
08:12 just to like kind of know how it works
08:14 because we basically have 40 seconds at each station.
08:16 I'm pretty sure it was supposed to be 45 seconds,
08:19 but we have 40 seconds.
08:21 Basically, they'll just have a tooth out like this
08:22 and be like, which one is it?
08:24 And you have to number it, side it, all that.
08:27 I think we talked about that this morning.
08:28 Yeah, so this is kind of an unusual week
08:30 'cause if you've seen my previous vlogs,
08:32 I'm like studying all the time, like constantly stressed.
08:35 But this week, we are next exam,
08:38 is on next Tuesday, tooth ID.
08:40 So I'm kind of chilling this week.
08:42 I'm gonna start like looking into stuff for finals
08:45 because during finals, I have eight exams in one week.
08:48 And that's just one week of finals, we have three weeks.
08:50 So literally, I'm gonna die.
08:53 So yeah, I'm gonna shower, eat some dinner,
08:55 and then just get some stuff done
08:57 through the rest of the night.
08:58 And if I have time, I'll probably start reviewing
09:00 maybe like head and neck anatomy
09:02 'cause that's a tough class.
09:04 (upbeat music)
09:06 (upbeat music)
09:09 (upbeat music)
09:12 (upbeat music)
09:14 (upbeat music)
09:17 (upbeat music)
09:19 (upbeat music)
09:21 So I have the microwave going in the background,
09:24 but I just, yes, these are my loops.
09:26 I will get to that in a second.
09:27 I just got off a call with my loops person.
09:31 I don't really know exactly what to call her,
09:34 but she's basically like the person who comes
09:37 and helps like take care of my loops if they have issues.
09:39 And I just got these.
09:41 If you are also a dental student,
09:42 these are 4.0 magnification.
09:44 We were recommended to get at least a 3.5
09:49 or then to get basically the highest magnification
09:51 we can handle.
09:52 And with the 4.0, I can still see a full dental arch.
09:56 So if I look in someone's mouth,
09:57 I can still see their full row of teeth.
10:00 But I just liked it 'cause it was like very magnified.
10:03 So mine are from the brand called Q Optics.
10:06 This is not sponsored in any way.
10:08 That would be great because these were expensive.
10:10 Mine didn't fit perfectly.
10:11 Like when I look out of them,
10:13 I'm kind of seeing double vision.
10:14 I do like a really narrow face.
10:16 So I think that's probably a problem.
10:18 But luckily I just called her
10:20 and she had me like go through a few steps.
10:22 And the only issue is that the frames are a little wide.
10:24 So I just have to like,
10:25 when I squeeze them together, I can see perfectly.
10:28 So I was really glad 'cause I was like,
10:29 man, can I not see out of these?
10:31 But it's totally fine.
10:33 She's gonna come in like next week or something
10:36 and we're gonna get them fixed.
10:37 So that's awesome.
10:38 But yeah, basically all dentists these days do have loops.
10:42 I know dentists who don't work with loops,
10:44 but it just like, it helps a lot with not only eye strain,
10:49 but like just like working distance.
10:51 So you're not like hunched over
10:52 because when I wax currently,
10:54 you see in my little like vlog portions,
10:57 I'm kind of like hunched over
10:58 and looking really closely at it.
11:00 But with loops, it basically like brings your line of sight
11:03 right to the mouth or like the tooth you're waxing
11:06 or something.
11:07 So it's a lot easier to see.
11:10 But yeah, just dental things.
11:11 (upbeat music)
11:14,
11:37 So it's about 9.30.
11:40 I don't have my watch on.
11:41 So basically I just kind of like got some emails
11:44 and stuff done and then just edited a few workouts
11:49 for my Instagram page.
11:51 Follow that.
11:52 I do post workouts like twice a week.
11:55 Yeah, I just kind of did that
11:56 while watching some YouTube videos
11:58 just because I didn't really feel like doing much.
12:01 And by the time I was done with like all the things
12:03 I needed to do for the night,
12:05 I only had like an hour left of like solid steady time.
12:09 And sometimes an hour just isn't enough.
12:11 Like sometimes I like to be settled for at least two hours.
12:14 So these are excuses,
12:16 but I just wasn't ready to start doing that yet.
12:19 Tomorrow I start a little bit later than usual.
12:21 Usually I start at eight, but I start at nine.
12:23 So I might get up early.
12:25 Like I usually don't
12:26 because you got to value those sleep in days, right?
12:29 But yeah, I mean, this was a pretty chill day,
12:32 but I think I'm going to start buckling down
12:33 and starting for finals starting tomorrow
12:36 because I just have so many finals
12:38 but I need to start reviewing some content now.
12:42 So that's going to be it for the vlog.
12:44 Thank you guys so much for watching
12:45 and please give this video a thumbs up
12:47 if you like the dental school vlogs.
12:49 I know a lot of you guys do.
12:50 And if you're not subscribed yet,
12:52 please do because I'm going to keep doing these vlogs.
12:53 So no reason to go anywhere.
12:55 Thank you guys so much.
12:56 And I'll see you next time.
