Transcript
00:00 Hi, I'm Laura Reid, the Deputy Features Editor at the Yorkshire Post.
00:04 Excuse me, because I'm full of cold this week, but I've come on to talk you through some of the features that we've run online and in print over the past week.
00:14 So there's lots to go back in terms of long reads for the weekend.
00:18 And we've also got our Yorkshire Post magazine coming out on Saturday as well as part of our week edition with more features there too.
00:26 So this week we heard how Leeds charity, the Homeless Street Angels, has released a Christmas single to try to raise funds and to spread a message of hope and empathy.
00:37 We also spoke to Steve Nallan, who provided many voices for Spitted Image Puppets, about the book that he's now co-written on time travel, a subject which fascinated him as a child in Leeds.
00:48 We explored how the Yorkshire Fix Our Food scheme is working to improve human health and the health of the planet as well.
00:55 And Julian Lloyd Webber spoke to us as he returns to Yorkshire to share Baxchillo sweets and inspire the next generation of talent.
01:05 We heard how thousands of children in the region have enjoyed their first holidays thanks to the Principal Trust, and we found out how the charity has made a magical difference to those.
01:15 We spoke to author Alice Vinton, who's been inspired by Happy Valley. She's a former Metropolitan Police officer and she's written about the real life stories of Yorkshire police women.
01:27 We spoke to Nick Holmes, lead singer of Paradise Lost, which is a gothic and death metal band from Halifax.
01:34 They're celebrating their 30th anniversary of the album Icon with a gig in Bradford.
01:39 And finally, we heard from Leeds based children's book writer and illustrator Kate Pankhurst, whose book Fantastically Great Women Who Changed the World is now a musical and it's coming to Leeds Grand in February.
01:53 Also, just to point out that we have our weekly Yorkshire Lifestyle newsletter, which gets sent to your inbox once a week to keep you up to date with all the latest features from the team.
02:05 That includes our magazine content, stories about health, environment, human interests pieces, arts, culture, fashion, property, food and drink and lots more.
02:18 So do consider signing up to that if you'd like to keep up to date there.
02:22 Thanks very much. Bye.
